Sushi should be what Zushi is good at! We came here because of the good ratings. If you don't know sushi very well then this place is probably great for you. My wife and I have eaten sushi around the country and this was a let down. To start, the calamari appetizer had no taste and was very breaded. We tried to order a variety of sushi, but they all tasted about the same, with different sauces on top. Almost all of the sushi options had a lot of imitation crab in the middle. If I ever come here again then I will get a plate of something else.

Having been stationed in Okinawa for 13 years active duty and 2 years as a government civilian and 2 years in mainland Japan I know how Japanese food should taste. The Okinawan soba had no taste in the broth and the noodles were overcooked. In fact they weren't soba noodles. The gyoza was ok. With regards to the sushi/sashimi the cuts were too thick. The Wasabi wasn't spicy. The katsudon meat had no flavor and the dish wasn't properly cooked. In addition they don't sell alcohol which is a must for sashimi. To top it off our soft drinks didn't come with ice so they were lukewarm.

It was okay.
I came here once just to try, and I wasn't very impressed with anything in particular.
The cuts for fish were a bit thick as well(i wont complain ahout quantity though) however, the prices are a bit high for side dishes- you do get a complimentary salad and miso. Miso lacks flavor, though, so it's like drinking slightly flavored water lol.
I personally think there are far better options when it comes to sashimi/sushi in AK to spend your money on, so I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you can't make the trip to Anchorage🫡

This place has always been generous. I had the Korean ramen + spicy tuna roll combo and it was only $18. Very quaint atmosphere, yet the acoustics are nice and don't make it feel overwhelming. Give it a try! Mega roll if you're feeling extra hungry!

2024 update
Sushi is still really good.Still have to request ginger and Wasabi.
Still serving water in horrible steal glasses.
Sadly, service is slowed way, way down. Recent trip on Friday was the worst. Only 3 tables the whole time and it took the gal probably over q0 mins to come back and even get our order. She never once returned to refill our waters. She never came to check on us and we waited over 10 mins to have her head pop out to let her know we'd like to-go boxes-she disappeared! Enough time went by that we actually got up to ask the sushi chefs for boxes...that's when she finally came back out with some. You would think she would've taken that as a sign for the check, right? NOPE! Asked for it and again, she took a her sweet time and waited until we stood up to get it. Never once did she smile or act pleasant during the service. But bow, when she saw cash, she was more that willing to collect the paid bill-before we were even done settling the bill between us.
Lately I've been leaving really generous tips as we've been very fortunate lately, but service still has to be worthy and sweetie, you were lucky we rounded up. You were not meant to be in the service industry.

Had a craving so ordered some take out.....ordered a spicy California roll, spicy crunch roll, a double crab and a halibut roll.
Ready for pick up in 20MINUTES!
20 MINUTES!!
Hell ya!
The halibut and the double were our favorite!
Will definitely order again! Prices were pretty amazing!

What a GREAT place. We showed up after the lunch crowd was gone. Had the place all to ourselves, just us girls!

FOOD: Edamame for an appetizer that we shared. Yum! You must request soy sauce and I recommend their house made if you are watching your sodium intake. It's also delicious with a light Amber color and doesn't overwhelm your palate.
Pork Ramen was fantastic and spot on. Made to order since my friend cannot tolerate spice.
My other friend and I shared a Mega Dragon Roll made with cauliflower rice. I love tobiko and, even though it doesn't come with it, they added it per request...and then went above and beyond by alternating different flavored on each piece including orange, black, green and red. (The green had a hint of wasabi)
I would be remiss if I didn't mention the dainty cranberry nut salads the preceded our dinner. Lovely in house ginger based dressing!
We enjoyed the ambiance so much we decided to treat ourselves to an after dinner Sake Tini. Served in a champagne flute with a lime garnish. Refreshing pineapple taste. We were enjoying ourselves so much I didn't even manage a picture of them.

SERVICE: Superb. She joked with us and explained things we weren't familiar with.
She even gave me a nic name! "Small mouth". Very accommodating.

ATMOSPHERE: Comfortable and not stuffy. Suitable for a business dinner or a casual family lunch.

PRICE: Reasonable! It averaged $30 per person and there may be a couple of things we ordered that I didn't mention. 😉

SUMMARY: Can't wait to go back and they love to cater to "regulars". If they like you, you might even get a discount off your next visit.
We left satiated and were very content all the way around. I have to mention the cleanliness which was exceptional. Overhead there is a thriving, CLEAN, live ivy. The Windows were spotless which is a good indicator as to the cleanliness of the kitchen. Thank You Zushi for not just a meal, but an experience.

This place is Delicious! I use to go here every other week with my mom. The workers are super nice! At the end of every meal you get a fortune cookie so every if your not a fan of the food you can end your meal with a sweet treat! Although it only has 6 tables and a Bar it's still popular! Even if it's out of the way it's worth the trip
