Had a wonderful 2 night 3 day retreat with my sister. The grounds were beautiful, even in the winter. We were very warm with the wood stove and enjoyed all the books and games that made it feel like home. Thank you!

Could not have asked for a better experience. The host, Eric, was great. He was great at communicating and answering all of our questions before our trip and was helpful upon arrival as well. The cabin was beautiful and the perfect peaceful place to propose to my girlfriend. We were able to explore Olympic National Park during the day have a calm retreat to go back to in the evenings. Looking forward to coming back another time!

I wish there was a way to give the Zen River Retreat (Cabin 2) more than five stars! My husband and I have stayed at a few different cabins / treehouses in Washington over the last year. As soon as we laid eyes on the Zen River Retreat, we knew that this was going to be a special place to stay!

While I love living in Seattle, it is so important to get away from the fast pace and the constant noise of the city. As soon as we arrived, we instantly felt like we were a million miles away from Seattle...even though it took under two hours to get there! The trees framed the entire perimeter of the cabin, making it feel really secluded. Which added to the charm.

Cabin: Cabin 2 (The Buddha Cabin) was perfect for a couples weekend getaway. The cabin was beautifully built, was spotlessly clean and very well stocked. The deck was really big, with an amazing view of a little meadow below and the river below. It is extremely apparent that the owner Erik put a lot of thought into making sure that his guests would have everything they need during their stay. From the popcorn maker, every kitchen utensil you would ever need, and the little surprises that you would never expect... like stuff to make belgian waffles, smores and even cake mix was a welcomed treat after dinner!

Grounds: The tall trees that surround the cabin, gave us all the privacy we needed. Our favorite spot was the private area by the river, that is specifically for Cabin 2! We spent hours hanging out at the river, building a fire and listening to music. Next to the firepit is a picnic table which was a perfect to eat lunch and play a game of Uno or Battleship!

As for the host, you could not find a better one than Erik! After he greeted us at the cabin and gave us the grand tour, he let us know that if we needed anything to give him a call... other than that, we had complete privacy. While we only spent two nights there, it felt like we were there longer.

Everything about the cabin was perfect: The attention to detail from Erik, the location (not too far from Seattle, but not too close), the cabin (it is possible for a cabin to feel spacious and cozy at the same time?), the private and secluded grounds and river that surrounds the cabin all made for a perfect stay.

My husband and I are already trying to plan our next trip to the Zen River Retreat. When you actually take time to "unplug" from your hectic life for a weekend, you quickly realize how important it is to do so. I can promise you... if you are looking for zen.... you found the right place.

Very comfortable cabins in a quiet area of the woods next to a calm and relaxing river. There are 2 cabins and one small events area. Not advertised and is generally spread by word of mouth. They work really hard to make this place comfortable and peaceful so if you're looking for a place to get away and collect your thoughts then this is the place for you. Has a bathroom with shower, full fledge kitched and a queen size bed which is extremely comfortable. You can also grill out on the deck facing the river. There are many places I have been and so far this is one of the top place to go.

We stayed at Zen River retreat this last December and it was absolutely lovely! Eric, the host and owner, was such a cool dude. He was incredibly hospitable and very sensitive to our privacy. The location, the property, the Jacuzzi, and the incredible care of the art and architecture was really wonderful and left us feeling recharged and rejuvenated. I am planning on organizing a retreat for my company there once Eric finished his conference building.

So, I have experienced both cabins 1 (Zen) and 2 (Buddha) on this property, and the Buddha Cabin is deserving of just as much love as the Zen Cabin, its predecessor.

The seclusion and river sounds are key. Some of us start to relax as soon as we leave the city; the rest will start to chill and down-regulate once the ceaseless river becomes the auditory backdrop and the lack of pressure to do anything becomes apparent. You’ll just be.

The amenities are above and beyond numerous comparable properties where I’ve stayed in the region. Appliances (including washer/dryer) are in good order. Romantic fireplace by the river, with a big yard in between cabin and this spot, tempts you to spend the night as much outside as inside. The enclosure of the old growth trees and peaceful woods wrap this all into an atmosphere that naturally encourages you to unplug from the constant communication and sympathetic stress of the smartphone life, despite working WiFi!

For the parents out there, this cabin is better than the Zen Cabin for small toddlers and other unpredictable elements. But there is a strong river nearby, so be sure your kids are ready for water safety. Also, the knobs in the shower run reverse to their hot/cold labeling. No big deal. Just a hot tip for you.

I hope others will enjoy Buddha Cabin as my family, my partner and I have! I cannot wait to go back!

Lovely three days in the Buddha cabin. Erik is a wonderful, helpful host, and the setting is forested and peaceful. Tastefully decorated cabin, fully equipped kitchen, and a comfortable bed. We lacked for nothing while there except more time.
