If you are looking to spend time in Wrangell St Elias National Park we highly recommend staying at Wrangell Mountains Wilderness Lodge. The Nabesna road is incredibly beautiful and no matter the time of year you simply cannot beat this often overlooked area of the park. The lodge and cabins are very well kept and comfortable and right in the heart of some of the most beautiful scenery Alaska has to offer. Michael and Victoria are incredibly knowledgeable about this area and it’s vast history, you will definitely be glad that you stayed here to enjoy this beautiful place.

Our stay at the Wrangell Mountains Wilderness Lodge was fantastic! We fully enjoyed our four-night vacation at this wonderful, magical lodge. We hope to return some day and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, delicious stay deep in the Alaska wilderness.||Wrangell Mountains Wilderness Lodge provides a five-star experience. The fully-equipped cabin with the eco-friendly wood pellet heater and hot shower kept us warm, cozy and clean. The hiking was superb with jaw-dropping views in every direction. And the exceptional, gourmet food – including the take-away lunches – was a big surprise. Home grown and harvested natural ingredients were featured in every meal and the 100-year old sour dough and the firewood ice cream were just two of the many delicious stand outs. The creativity and quality of their kitchen rivals that of any San Francisco restaurant.||The recreation was superb. We had so much fun hiking into the mountain wilderness on two days with views of Mt. Sanford (16,237 ft.) and many other peaks, and we spent the third day alone, canoeing on a 2-mile lake with swans, eagles and ducks nestled in the foot hills with 360° views of snow-covered peaks in the Wrangell, Mentasta, Alaska and Chugach mountain ranges. ||And topping it all off was the nice connection we made with the wonderful family that runs the WMWL. Michael and Victoria and their two kids were exceptional hosts. They taught us much about Alaska and the subsistence ethic that supports the people that live there, especially those in remote areas like the Nabesna Road region. They shared their knowledge and love for the area with us and had great recommendations for our excursions. ||The Wrangell Mountains Wilderness Lodge provides a complete, unique and wonderful experience on the “quiet” side of the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, a very special place where you will find all the creature comforts in the middle of a gobsmaking wilderness. It doesn’t get any better. We recommend it without reservation.||Ellen and Louis (San Francisco, California)

If we could give Victoria, Mike and their wonderful family 10 stars we would! We really wanted to get off the beaten path on our adventure to Alaska and 28 miles into the remarkable Wrangell-St. Elias National Park sure fit the bill. Little did we know that we would be welcomed like family and treated so kindly. Before writing this review, I did not read the other understandably glowing reviews. My wife and I arranged to enjoy the "meal plan" and we are betting that the reviews are glowing about the food. It was incredible. The cabins are spotless, the lodge super comfortable and the surrounding wilderness - well, exactly what the doctor ordered. Two nearby lakes, wonderful hiking and the most gorgeous fall colors.

Truly an amazing destination! Within the beauty and serenity of the Wrangell St. Elias Mountains is a wonderful family owned and operated lodge that should not be missed. Traveling from Indiana to Anchorage with our family, the stop at the Wrangell Mountains Wilderness Lodge, and the trails along the Nabesna Road, were one the highlights of the trip. We particularly enjoyed the family’s attention to detail and their warm welcome. We stayed in the Alaskan Cabin and it happily fitted our family of 4. The cabin was spotless with all the needed comforts to ensure a relaxing stay. The highlight for us was the spectacular dinner, breakfast, and packed lunch! Exceptional food prepared with pride and love using local ingredients. If you are traveling between Tok and Anchorage, or just looking for a fantastic destination, don’t pass up Wrangell Mountains Wilderness Lodge. Side note, don’t be afraid of the Nabesna Road… it is in great condition clear up to Mile 28 where the lodge is located.

We loved our 3 nights in the Alaskan cabin. Very clean, well stocked. We ate a lot of meals at the lodge which were delicious! The bagged lunches were so great to take on our all day hikes. This northern part of Wrangell is quiet, beautiful , and offered great hikes. It was so nice to come back to a super dinner and a comfortable cabin! One early evening after hiking we walked down to Jack Lake behind the lodge for a cooling swim! Amazing! Michael and Victoria are great hosts! Wish we would’ve stayed longer.

As always the Wrangell Wilderness lodge was the perfect place to rest, relax and recover! The owners Mike and Victoria have put in so much love and work over the years. Their hospitality is second to none, making the lodge feel like a second home. The new yurts have an awesome vibe and we will be down again soon. For any trip, any reason, any season I can’t imagine not loving it there!

Wrangell Mountains Wilderness Lodge is an absolute gem. The location is extraordinary and probably the best point of access to all things Wrangell-St. Elias on the Nebesna Road side of the national park. The team at the lodge go out of their way to accommodate all guests, the food is outstanding, and the knowledge at the lodge and the nearby ranger station re: navigating the trails / points of interest on that side of the park is first class. I would stay here again in a heartbeat; really grateful for the experience at the lodge and in Wrangell-St. Elias.

We stayed in the Raven Cabin, which was clean, tastefully decorated, and had everything we needed (and more than we expected) for lodging this remote. You wouldn't know that you are actually off grid because we had steady electricity from solar panels and generators (which we never heard). The shower was hot and the plumbing worked well. Best of all are the owners and their children, who help with meals, greeting guests, and much more. The food they cooked at the lodge was delicious, and Victoria packed a great "to go" breakfast for us on the day we left. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this to others - it's really worth driving to mile 28 of the Nabesna Road!
