Winter Wonderland! It was our first time at Whiplash Retreat. We had an amazing time. The cabin was clean and cozy.
The snowmobile trails were well groomed and had easy access to Spider Lake.
If you love peace and quiet, this is it!
We ice fished on the private lake, and even got to see the northern lights!
We will definitely be back!

A truly magical getaway, surrounded by nature, wildlife and beauty! We instantly decompress when we drive into Whiplash! From start to finish our time there is perfect. Check in is easy, cabins are clean and well maintained, there is so much to do! We enjoy the beautiful hikes, beach side relaxation, kayaking and bonfires. Our time at Whiplash has made so many memories with the ones we love!! Can't wait to go again soon!

This was the perfect get away for my wife and our two kids. We stayed in the lakeside cabin. The open yard with fire pit and deck are setup perfect. The views on this lake are so peaceful. With it being a private lake it's so quiet up here! Being able to take out a mini pontoon to do some fishing was awesome. They also have a few fishing kayaks. Also a big water trampoline! My ten year old girl loved taking the kayak out by herself. I didn't have to worry about wake boats and jetskis ripping around on the lake. We caught plenty of bass and bluegills which is always nice to keep the kids interested. My 5 year old was down every morning bobber fishing for bluegills off the dock. Would recommend this place to any family looking to get away from the busy city and relax and recharge.

Are you looking for a fast paced lake with lots of boating, jet skis, etc.? Then this isn't it. This is the ultimate place to disconnect from the world and get recharged. Get up early, grab a cup of coffee and listen to sound of the woods. Keep your eyes and ears open, this is the north woods. The cabins are far enough apart that you still feel alone. With the exception of the Twin Pines as this is duplex cabin. My family has been coming here for well over 20 years and we have stayed in just about every cabin. Its under new owners for last few years and they have been working tirelessly making several improvements to the cabins.

I’ve been coming to Whiplash since I was little and the excitement when I pull into the long driveway is still the same each year. This place is a little piece of heaven and you never want to leave.
Amy and Scott have done an extraordinary job at making this place feel like a home away from home. They are also fantastic and there if you need.
So if you’re looking for a place to get away, definitely Whiplash is the way to go!

Whiplash Resort is first rate! It has served as the perfect place for our family vacation/reunion for over 20 years. The new owners, Amy and Scott have already made wonderful improvements to the grounds and cabins.
What brought us to Whiplash and beckons us back each year is its beautiful landscape and pristine lake. The clear refreshing water is perfect for swimming (and fishing) while the beach and inflatable trampoline provides endless fun time for both kids and adults. There are plenty of fire pits throughout the resort to enjoy during the evening and the cabins are modern and comfortable.
My family highly recommends Whiplash Lake!

We had the most relaxing weekend anyone could ask for. The scenery is amazing it was so peaceful and quiet. Amy was do accommodating and friendly making sure we had the best time. We will be making this a yearly trip if not more than once. If you are looking for a true up north expirence without the people Whiplash is for you.

Upon entering Whiplash Retreat, the nostalgia for simpler times breathed into my soul. The space disconnected me from the wired universe and submerged me into a piney forest of tranquility. Each path offered discovery of mosses and mushrooms, of saplings and trees, of self and others, and of chipmunks and birdsongs, to replace the noise of responsibilities left at the gate under the wooden letters that spell WHIPLASH. I don’t know the history regarding the naming of this sanctuary, but for me, it was the abrupt, yet welcomed pause, which made my head snap back to look upwards and focus on the beauty of this place. My family reconnected in all the quiet moments sitting on the dock and listening to the loons. We kayaked, read, fished, talked, walked, boated, laughed and sat in the silence and serenity of Whiplash. It’s a place you can feel Mother Nature holding you in Her arms like a parent embracing Her child after a long day. I’m so grateful we had the opportunity to visit.
