Overall a pretty good stay at the hotel but just short of a "5 star" review. ||First with the negatives: breakfast seating on the terrace required a 25 minute wait, despite there being seats open they had to stagger them to not "overwhelm" the staff...understandable but sounds like a staffing issue which causes inconvenience to guests, hostess staff was very nice though, but the wait staff was frankly all over the place (dishes were never cleared and the only time our waiter came by after dropping off our coffee order was to drop off the check). |Another negative was despite there definitely being upgraded rooms available, since it was an award stay we were not given an upgrade despite being Diamond members...however we were offered an upsell to a suite with no view. I'm under the impression this is a management policy as the front desk agent seemed very apologetic about it. |The rooms were very well appointed however the balcony was in disrepair with bird feces and paint peeling on the floor. Also the walls seem paper thin as we heard the water flowing from the pipes either next door or above us which gave a very... cheap feel. You could here conversations in the hallway quite loudly from the room.||Now for the good: resort overall is really beautiful and is very well maintained. The fitness center was fantastic and generally every employee we ran into was very kind and well trained. The shuttle down to the beach club was great and is a really good selling point of the resort (drinks were very expensive though). The breakfast buffet (which only happens certain days) was actually a very good value and had everything you wanted and then some, the guy doing the omelets also did a very good job. As mentioned, the room was very well appointed and turn down service was great with plenty of waters provided. Check-in was also done quite well with lemonade offered as well as bottled water on departure.

The location is wonderful! Very picturesque. Staff is okay. Some are very friendly and pleasant, others are just too rigid. We didn’t try all the food options but the three we did try are just okay (or less than okay) - so you are paying for the ambience and location but don’t expect great food or a meal to remember.

This hotel is in a fantastic location and offers great views (from certain areas). Our "garden view" room was spacious, but unfortunately we had a pathetic view of the golf course parking lot. We also found some random hairs on the robes and a smudge on a hand towel. The pool and Jacuzzi were beautiful and kid friendly, but the poolside bar closed prematurely so we were unable to enjoy cocktails while watching the stunning sunset. Perhaps the best part was the convenient tram to the beach. The private beach is awesome, and having a beach club restaurant with good (overpriced) food/drinks was convenient. And the gym has everything you'll need to get the heart/muscles pumping. Ultimately, although we made the best of our stay, it's hard to recommend a stay here for the price. But if money is not a concern, then definitely avoid "Garden view" rooms and you'll enjoy your decision.

This is one of my favorite vacation destinations in California. The grounds look magnificent with gorgeous views of the beach. The rooms are well maintained and spacious. Their towels and linens are luxurious. Their toiletries, hmm, I'm not really a fan of. The staff are professional, friendly, and helpful. The staff at the desk arranged for my car to be charged, making it ready for a drive the next day. It was very much appreciated. The tram is very convenient for when you have to go down to the restaurant. However, you can walk too, but it would be a long walk, I suppose. The food at the restaurant was not something to rave about. It was pricey, but the quality was just average at best. Considering everything, I would say it was a great experience. 👍 |

Wonderful welcoming staff: Alika, Noah and Lisa were particularly helpful in insuring a comfortable stay. Lance who rode the tram to the Beach Club, was engaging and we appreciated his service. We had a lovely meal at the Beach Club restaurant. Kirsten took care of us at our table and food was delicious.|Theresa- one of the hotel operators- was super professional and helpful in making a modification to our initial reservation. She truly embodied customer service!

This location is great and not in a busy area. Its off the PCH and very close to the harbor and other great activities. The property is very large and a nearby golf course.
The grounds are very well kept and so is the interior. The staff is very friendly and attentive.
The security is very friendly and helpful.
I was there for an event. The food was great and the party was well taken care off. The staff was very quick to collect plates and glasses keeping the area clean.
I walked around and the pool and restaurants looked great.
I love Bourbon steak. A great fancy place to eat.

A fantastic stay at Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach to ring in the new year. A gorgeous property located in Dana Point.||Received a warm welcome from Wilbur upon check-in. Upgraded from a standard room to a fireside resort view king room (proactively prior to arrival - noted on the app). 1pm early check-in accommodated (as well as an extended hilton diamond check out at 12pm). There's a list of daily activities (some complimentary, some for a fee) such as morning yoga, tequila tasting, wine tasting, e-bike tours.||A convenient tram transported you to the exclusive beach club. Lunch was tasty, service attentive, and drinks at the oceanfront firepit offered a fantastic view. $50 F&B credit can be used at any dining outlet.||We met up with family for dinner at Aveo Table and bar which was exceptional. Calamari appetizer was great, braised short ribs and fisherman's stew were phenomenal. Closely review your bill as our bill was combined with another table and we were significantly overcharged, but easily corrected.||The room was spacious, comfortable and the firepit on the patio was a great place to hang out with visiting family.||There are various pools and hot tubs with very attentive service.||Parking $70 overnight, $35 day visit, $10 with restaurant validation. Valet only.||Compared to the Ritz Carlton across PCH on a previous stay, our experience here was far superior (although the Ritz has better views). We were booked for 3 nights at the Ritz on a revenue stay and checked out after the first night. We would have gladly stayed at WA longer.

I cannot emphasize enough how lovely our visit was, even though it was very brief. This was our first time taking our infant out of town overnight, and we were all kinds of anxious and uncertain about how he’d sleep. But from even before our arrival, the hotel team did everything they could to help ease the process.||Upon arrival, we were told we had been upgraded to a lovely room with a fire pit as part of my Diamond perks. When we got to the room we saw a diaper pail and crib already set up. I had asked for the crib but not the diaper pail (didn’t think of it), and it was so incredibly thoughtful of the staff to include it because obviously, we needed one. They even included a little toiletries set for the baby, which was such a nice touch! Also, this is a pleasant surprise, but while I don’t usually like being on the ground floor (all the fire pit rooms appear to be ground floor), it ended up being really convenient to just step over the low wall dividing our patio directly into the garden rather than have to meander through hallways and elevators to get outdoors. And it was SO nice to sit outside by the fire with a book and bottle of wine after the baby fell asleep, I ended up staying out there for several hours.||Valet and check-in were both smooth, and the gentleman at the check-in desk provided a map of the property along with an intro to the beach club, which was very helpful. There’s a tram from the hotel to the beach club that runs often but we opted to walk most of the way since the weather was great and the on-site golf course is one of the nicest public courses in probably all of Southern California. Part of the way there we got picked up by the tram (thank you Ron) and it was no fuss at all to load up our stroller and catch the ride the rest of the way to the beach club.||The beach club is definitely worth a visit. It’s right on the sand, with unbeatable sunset views. The food is expensive of course and not the best I’ve ever had, but pretty good and service was excellent. Attentive but relaxed. Finally, just before we checked out there happened to be a yoga class at the fitness center so I figured, why not. Fitness classes are complimentary for hotel guests and since it’s a fully functioning athletic club that people can join rather than just a hotel gym, there’s a good number of classes everyday.||All in all, we had zero complaints, and properties like this are why I choose Hilton where I can. We are in the Southern California area, and this property is definitely on my short list for a quick escapist weekend getaway.
