Stopped by W Cafe in Gunnison for breakfast the day before the 4th of July. Even with the holiday crowd, we were seated quickly since it was just the two of us—definitely appreciated. We ordered the spinach, bacon, and cheese omelette and a breakfast burrito. Both came out hot and fast, and the portion sizes were huge, definitely enough to fill you up (or split if you’re not super hungry). The food was hearty and satisfying, though nothing fancy. A solid spot if you’re looking for a classic diner-style breakfast with generous portions and quick service.

The service was average at best. We waited about ten minutes for a table and then about 5-6 more before anyone acknowledged we were sitting there. I watched as a couple that was seated after us get coffee and drink orders taken. She also didn’t refill coffee at our table despite doing so for others around us. She wasn’t as friendly as most waiters were has this week in Gunnison. Perhaps she was having a rough day?

The food was good. The cinnamon roll was large with icing. The biscuit with gravy and omelettes were good. Standard diner fare.

The atmosphere is just old town diner - nothing special about it. The bathrooms could use a coat of paint. It’s obvious the place is popular either with locals or tourists because it’s been busy every time we’ve walked or driven by it.

I had the steak and eggs with the fruit on the side and it was fantastic. Service was rock solid.

We used to love W Cafe, but $55 for two bacon and egg breakfasts is ridiculous.

When I ordered, the waitress said we could substitute the potatoes with fresh fruit, which I agreed to. When the meal arrived, there was a large plate of fruit. It looked great, but after the bacon and eggs, I was too full to eat much of it.

Imagine my surprise when I saw that “substitution” added $7.00 to our bill. The waitress never mentioned there would be an extra charge for making the change.

W Cafe, you won that battle, but you’ve lost a loyal customer. I hope it was worth it.

We have been eating at The W for 20+ years. The food is always excellent and the surface is normally excellent as well. With that being said, the last few times of being here, we have got the blonde waitress with tattoos on both arms. She has been rude and unprofessional every time that we have been here. We will continue to come back to the W as the restaurant is excellent but the one specific waitress is hurting the business.

We stayed in Gunnison over the weekend for the first time, from Texas. This was the best breakfast I've had in a long long time! Portions are great (I mean look at the giant pancake!), everything was delicious, and everybody was lovely and friendly. I hope we come back through here some day and can eat here again 🙂

Absolutely fantastic breakfast! Was very busy when we arrived but we're seated within 5 minutes. Our server, Charlton, was great. I've never seen someone hustle like that. I swear he did everything at a jog while being very friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. Our party of 4 got french toast made from baguette bread, the W Skillet and eggs with home fries. We also got a cinnamon roll for the table. Everything was delicious and the portions large. The cinnamon roll though was the star of the table! Warm, buttery, just beyond words delicious. We'll be stopping here the next time we come through Gunnison.

My Grandma, Mom, Aunt and so many other family work here. I remember coming here as a kid after riding my bike around town and everyone was always so nice and the micky mouse pancakes where like nun other. Or during Elk season, full restaurant full of orange hats and good stories. I sure do miss the good 'Ol days.
