Wonderful cabin experience - even with no power the first night. Staff offered to upgrade me, and made sure I had everything I needed when I opted to stay put. Hadn't stayed there in 50 years, but am planning to go back soon!

This review is for the cabins. We rented a two-bedroom cabin as a two-night stopover on a motorcycle tour of the area. At only $125/night this cabin presented an amazing value. It was super-clean, recently renovated, and more than big enough for four people (though there were only two of us). It has new appliances, windows, bathroom fixtures, and HVAC. It was only a two-minute hike down to the lake. There's a lovely front porch with lots of seating for drinking coffee or cocktails and looking at the lake (although the view is somewhat obstructed). The lodge restaurant is a five-minute drive away. If you have kids, there's lots for them to do, including a wide sandy beach.

We had an amazing 80th birthday party here. We rented a pavilion and cabin. Everything was perfect and pretty self-sufficient once we arrived. All of the assistance we received leading up to the event was exceptional. From the Sales person to the front desk check-in was great.

Absolutely love visiting Tygart Lake for their events and activities. The inflatables on the lake are a favorite amongst our family in the summer.

My fiance and I stayed at the cabin (specifically Cabin 6) which was the Classic Cabin, 1 - Bedroom. We absolutely loved it! The cabin was right on the lake with a beautiful view. It was small and cozy, but very comfortable. The cabin featured a full kitchen with coffee pot and Keurig, full size fridge/freezer, stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, and toaster. There was a beautiful wood-burning fireplace and satellite television above the fireplace. Wood was provided as well as a fire-starter for each night that we were there. The bed had to be one of the comfiest I've ever slept in. It didn't sag in the middle like most places. The bathroom was updated. The shower stall was small, but the water was hot. There was an awesome lighted mirror above the sink in the bathroom. There was a small porch on the front and a larger deck out back that had plenty of seating with beautiful views of the lake. There was also a picnic table, fire pit, and charcoal grill right outside off the deck. Inside the cabin, were large windows that provided fantastic views of the lake. The cabin was very clean.||I loved sitting outside on the deck and watching the water. You could see the stars very clearly at night and the morning had a beautiful fog over the water. It was extremely quiet and peaceful...very relaxing! Being early in the season, there were no water activities open or going on which made for a very peaceful trip. There weren't many visitors at this time so it wasn't crowded or noisy.||We ate at the lodge for lunch the one day and dinner the next. The menu is small, but the food was very delicious. The staff at the lodge and the restaurant were very friendly and helpful...some of the best customer service I've ever experienced! There are beautiful views of the lake at the lodge and a deck out back for outdoor seating or just to take in the views.||I highly recommend bringing food to cook or plan on eating at the lodge. There are a few restaurants in town (mostly chain restaurants i.e. Subway, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Burger King). There is a Walmart nearby to get groceries as well.

Fun for all ages. Recommend being in good physical condition to participate. The inflatables are difficult to get on but everyone but me was able to do it. Had a good time just floating in the water while the rest of the family played on all the toys. Grandparents even played on them with the kids and had a great time. Beach has chairs provided so you do not need your own. We brought our own life jackets but they have plenty to rent if you need one there. Says no coolers but people still brought them. Do not bring any pets. This is not a place for any pets. Beautiful clear water. Clearest water in WV. I could still see my legs. This facility is not for people of lower physical fitness. Not accessible by any means. Bring your own shade!

Has lifeguards littered about always on watch. Felt safe. Know your skill level and know your ability. I am not a good swimmer but still had a good time.

Very difficult to walk. 200 steps to get up and down to the beach from parking lot. No accessible by any means. This is not a place for people who can’t get around easily.

Can buy some things there but we brought all our own food. Has a no cooler policy but they seem to not enforce it.

I first started going here when I came from a distance to attend a fundraiser for local animal shelter I was looking for a place I could stay with my two dogs. And they were very accommodating and pet friendly I was delightfully surprised by the fact that there are some trails -- one just feet away from the lodge.

The restaurant is good (limited evening hours), with good portion sizes. When their I've also seen that they have things like Easter or other holiday brunch set up too. It has nice view, and the service is wonderful.

It's a bit of a jaunt to get to and you want to make sure you ask Google/app for the lodge specifically, as every time I plug in Tygart Lake State Park it has me ending up on the other (west) side of the lake, while the lodge is on the upper East side of the lake.

Lodge rooms are slightly dated, but clean and quiet. Pet owners: there are sliding glass+screen doors on the back side of your room that exit into a *small* patio and grassy area in back. This is nice because it means you can take your pet for a short walk on grass or over to the potty area without having to cross through the parking lot. So if you have a nervy pooch (alas, one of ours is), you don't need to worry about coming and going through peopled areas. πŸ™‚

In addition to the two trails closest to the lodge, you can travel further down along the Eastern lake side to where the nature center is, there's a really nice trail (look for play area, ball court across the road) that goes up the semi steep hillside along the ridge, and then back down over other hillside to come out where the camping and cabins areas area.
My only complaint: too bad the trails are all mostly there-and-back ones. ---But you can do the lake trail northward, use the small spur trail to exit on the road, go across the road to the dogwood trail, follow that up the hillside, the.follow it southward, then back down the hillside to exit back on the road (now past the lodge) to reconnect with lake trail across the road , and then loop back northward on the lakeside trail back to the lodge.

Super friendly staff and attentive service: on one trip, I eft my electric toothbrush behind in the room once, and didn't realize it until back in DE. Had given it up as lost.....but I unexpectedly ended up in WV and the lodge area weeks later, so on a whim stopped in to ask if any cleaning staff happened to find a toothbrush --- and delighted to find they had put it in safe keeping with reception all that time, even though I hadn't called or asked. It's this kind of kind thoughtfulness that makes me come back to WV over and over. πŸ™‚
