Last minute hotel search near Snowshoe led us to Tygart and we were thoroughly impressed. Room is fully renovated and very clean. Friendly staff and nice crowd with wonderful live music on a Saturday night definitely greeted us with warm welcome. Didn’t get to taste the food but definitely will during our next trip. To sum up: beautiful room with perfect marriage of history and modern; nice people; decent price. Absolutely recommend!

Loved the ambience! Perfect couples getaway ! Friendly staff, clean rooms and all public spaces! Fresh donuts in morning! Great coffee- bought some to take home! Bed was comfortable- rooms looked exactly like the ones pictured on website! Loved the artwork throughout.

I love older buildings. I love the history of cites and towns. I only stayed one night but the hotel was nice,clean,and comfortable. Perfect location,shopping,outdoor activities and food close to the hotel. I really enjoyed the old photos hanging on the walls.

It’s conveniently located less than an hour’s drive from Timberline and several other popular ski resorts, making it an ideal base for winter sports enthusiasts. Situated in the heart of a picturesque small town, guests can easily stroll through charming streets lined with local shops, restaurants, and cafes, providing a perfect balance of outdoor adventure and small-town charm. The town’s welcoming ambiance adds to the overall experience, allowing visitors to unwind and enjoy the scenery. Additionally, the hotel offers a breakfast-included option, which was not only convenient but also of great quality, providing a solid start to each day of our stay.

We were in room 513-- a corner room that could see the mansions on the hill (part of Davis and Elkins college now) in one direction, and the lights of the town in the other. The giant windows served up gorgeous views, but happily also came with blackout curtains and frosted blinds. That way you could customize how much of the outside beauty you took in at once. Our bed was very comfy and there was room for my yoga and my husband's workout routine in the room. The decor was gorgeous and focused on local artisans and the "lost towns" of WV. On our last day I went from floor to floor to see the artwork and read the stories and maps on the walls of the hotel. An innovative potter, Scottie Wiest, has her work featured in the lobby currently. The free cookies in the PM were a nice touch and the breakfast buffet was a nice blend of naughty and nutritious offerings. We would totally stay here again! As posh as it was, I was suprised to see that it is also pet friendly! (And next time we want to try their restaurant too.)

Beautifully restored historic building in a nice area to stay. Walk to shops, restaurants and bars, free parking in the rear lot. Everyone who works there was very nice and knowledgeable about the area. 6th floor rooms had a great view of this pretty town. I will definitely be staying here again when I'm in town. Way better than my experience with another hotel in the area that starts with a W.

My recent stay at the Tygart was exceptional. After a day of travel, car issues, and issues with a car sick pet, finding a hotel last minute seemed impossible. Thankfully, the Tygart had availability (the day before Thanksgiving) and allow pets (the Wyndham and Holiday Inn express do not). The staff was so friendly and inviting and placed my husband and I in a beautiful room for both Wednesday night and Thursday (Thanksgiving) night. The hotel restaurant was running a thanksgiving day special meal so we were able to celebrate even though we were far from home. My husband and I have been toying around with the idea of making this an annual tradition. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back.

I have been staying in Elkins for the last 10 years, in what was the Isaac Jackson Hotel. Since it was sold, I have been looking for a replacement and I thought I had finally found it. The hotel is very nice and clean and the beds are comfortable. On the other hand, it was difficult to get the suitcases into the hotel and none of the ice machines were working but this would not be something that would make me not return to this hotel. What disappointed me was that the free breakfast was not, in fact, a breakfast. There's nothing hot like in their pictures inside a yellow room, there are only pastries, donuts, thinly sliced pieces of fruit, and cold-boiled eggs. Served on top of the counter of the dark bar. When I went to ask the employee, he knew what I was about to ask and told me that they didn't have anything hot, only on special occasions. I don't want to be that person, but that is deceiving because those pictures of the free hot breakfast were what made me decide on that Hotel. Otherwise, I would've stayed at another hotel as I will in the coming years. I've included the pictures of the fictional breakfast.
