My husband and I stopped by Toasted for a late brunch. We arrived and stood by the podium with the "wait to be seated" sign by it. Nobody was at the podium so we waited a couple minutes for the host to arrive. A young gentleman greeted us and offered us a table or a booth, we chose a booth. Our server came by and greeted us and took our drink order. We both ordered the bottomless drip coffee and I asked for cream. The coffee was very good, we loved it. I do wish however that they would have flavored creamer available. The server came back and took our food order. I ordered the lobster benny, it came with truffle parmesan potato bites and a roasted tomato. My husband ordered the brisket hash and for an additional fee a side of sourdough bread. My lobster benny was decent but I don't think I'd order it again. There seemed to be an overwhelming lemon taste to the dish but an overall good flavor. The poached eggs were a bit too runny and slimy for my taste. The lobster was barely present in this dish, you could barely tell what was lobster or a diced tomato. I did not even tried the roasted tomato on the plate, as i am not a huge fan of tomatoes. I did however like the potato bites and I would order those again. My husband liked his brisket hash alot and says he would order it again. We both thought the prices were way too high for what you're getting in the dishes. My lobster benedict was about $15 more than the classic benedict they had on the menu and it definitely was not worth the $33 I was charged for it. We had a fiftcard from Christmas to use, otherwise I'm not sure if I would have even tried this place. Also the whole time we were trying to enjoy our food, there was an obnoxiously loud man with his children who kept screaming. The staff didn't even ask him to quiet down or anything. The customer service was mediocre, the server was.not as attentive as we like.

I went in around mid morning and it wasn’t crowded at all. I was able to choose either indoor or covered patio seating. The atmosphere was cozy given the open space in the restaurant. The service was excellent from the time I arrived until the time I left. The hostess and servers were very attentive. The food was great!! The potato balls are AMAZING!! I could have just eaten those and been a happy camper! The prices were fairly reasonable but the quality of the food was wonderful! I’ll definitely be back!

My first time here. There is a stylish vibe the moment you look into the restaurant. It was a warm and sunny day and the windows were opened the day we went.
We choose to sit on the patio. Our server (I wish I could remember his name) was absolutely delightful. He greeted us with a smile that made you feel welcome checking in on us the right amount of time.
He took our drink order quickly. I choose to have iced tea... I would definitely recommend their Tropical Tea. Lots of flavor and it’s unsweetened.
The menu has an array of dishes to choose from. So many of the dishes I wanted to order.
My friend and I finally chose 2 different items and split them. The presentation of the dishes was outstanding but the flavors on my goodness. Our taste buds were happy.
I will definitely go back. I can't wait to try more of the dishes.

An updated review from my last visit:

This was such a 360 from my last visit I'm a little baffled by it.

We came here after pride and it was about a 30min wait. We got a booth and it was smooth sailing in the beginning with our food coming out in timely manners and it all tasted great.

Really helped it was nice and quiet and we could easily chat amongst ourselves with no loud noise to deal with.

Once it came to get our check our waiter had disappeared along with the rest of the waiters except one. The one left was running to all the tables servicing them but we were left with no check up or any updates. 40 minutes passed since we were done and we had asked 2 staff members, the hostess and the only waitress left, for the bill and were told they would get our waitress.

nothing happened and we finally were able to get Alfreds attention who seemed to be a manager or higher up. he apologized profusely and comped our bill in half.

while this was so generous of him it was just so strange that our waitress disappeared with no word, no update that someone was taking our table over, nothing at all.

We were just glad to be able to leave as we had later plans we had to get to and be done with this whole ordeal.

Original review:
No wait at all on a sunday morning for brunch! We were a party of 3 and were immediately seated at around 9am. Cute little place tucked away in one of the strip malls on the side of Fletcher Prkwy.
I've seen the sign but the front of the place isn't facing the street so I've never felt inclined to stop in. We found this on yelp and decided to finally try it and it was great! Cute decor all around and a night concise menu to choose from. Also bottomless mimosas are always a good sign on a brunch location.

I got the plain jane with the sausage and easy eggs. It was all cooked well and the potatoes were cute and yummy. Orange juice was nice and fresh too! Espresso martini was very strong and the mimoa was simple and what you can get anywhere. The wait for food wasn't too long either.

Bathrooms are towards the right of the bar around the corner next to the kitchen.
They got a little busy before we left so getting the check took a little bit, but overall a great spot and I will def have it in mind next time I have brunch.

This review is for the new Toasted restaurant that replaced Sammy's. I went and was not disappointed. Relaxing inside and outside seating. Their brunch menu has good variety. I especially enjoyed the Elvis French toast. I believe this will be the best brunch spot in all La Mesa. Definitely worth a try.
