6/28/24: Per local intel today, property is currently contracted by the county to house the homeless population, and NOT recommended. They failed for several weeks to return my calls regarding reservations, so I reached out to another local business. Now we know why.

7/1/24 Response to Owner:

I appreciate your response. The only goal of my review was to inform the Google / Yelp communities that you apparently are not currently in the business of offering lodging to tourists. That’s a shame. While I have stayed in Weaverville several times, I called you first for this trip, as your location and proximity to the river was very appealing, and your reviews on both Google and Yelp were quite good and better than most of the properties in Weaverville.

As I have not visited your property, I probably should have tempered my “NOT recommended” notation. That is in-fact “hearsay” based on the comments of a third party and should not be admissible. I apologize.

I have absolutely no problem with your business decision to help your community’s locals instead of random tourists. Having permanent and full-time occupancy certainly sounds like a much easier business model. However, if in fact you do not currently have lodging available for tourists, it would be most helpful if you could notify Google / Yelp that you are “temporarily closed”. I did notice that the website link offered on both services does not work. I guess that might have been a clue. For the record, I will note as sad commentary that very many communities now suffer the Air BnB effect, whereby tourists live in the homes and locals live in the motels. There ought to be a law…

I commenced making reservations for my trip on June 3. As the Weaverville area is the first night of my vacation, I attempted to make those reservations first, and do believe that I called on that day. I know absolutely that I called on June 4, which would have been a follow-up call. It was only on June 28 that I realized I still had no reservations for my first night, that my calls had not been returned, and called again. Upon receiving the same OGM, I reached out to another business to inquire if you were even open, learned of your status, and posted the review to alert other users. So, 30 minutes in your view, but 3 and a half weeks in mine. I cannot explain the “disconnect”.

I am still not clear as to whether you currently have any rooms to offer the public. Whether you do or not, it would be helpful for you to clarify your current situation. Thank you.

If you love classic quiet motor lodges, stop here! Original owner passed away and she left it to her nephew only 3 weeks before my arrival. Met him and his niece and they are great people!!! In 21 days they had done some amazing make over work and were not only eager to share future plans, but asked all guests for advice and opinions! Rooms are going to be very stylish with retro appliances to match the motels origins. Still working on flooring and bathrooms, but the new bed provided an amazing nights sleep. ||You might think $100 per night is a tad steep for the area, but there is method behind that cost; it keeps out the riff raff which offers guests a sense of security. Especially important for small towns which were hit hard this last year making poverty no joking matter. ||So quiet, up in the mountains, and the river being just a jog across the street was a plus! Be sure to visit the Nugget restaurant for great fiid while there and say hello to Susan, who's an amazing host!

I don't know who's actually written those other reviews. This place was so sketchy when we showed up, we left. There was junk everywhere outside, you could tell that multiple tweakers lived there. It literally felt straight out of Deliverance. Do not waste your time.

Nice people, nice room, nice price for the area! I booked based on the one other TA review (at the time) and am glad I did. At check-in, I felt like I was being welcomed by old friends. I then had an excellent night's sleep in a clean, cozy, comfortable, quiet room. I had made a very good choice! If your travels take you to Trinity County, I recommend the Timber Lodge Motel without hesitation.

We stayed on a Friday night. It was a great low price for the location. I was very pleased with how clean our room was, it was spotless. The place was also very pet friendly . We had brand new appliances, bed, towels, and bedding. They told us new owners recently took over and in the middle of a remodel. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

My family has visited the motel since I was a young child. Wonderful owners, beautiful area to explore and a unique atmosphere. This is one of my favorite places, I always look forward to visiting. The perfect get away but still close to town, Weaverville has some great cafes’, restaurants, and great museums. Why rough it when you can stay in a quaint, clean place such as this?

Dan helped us out and was very friendly. The room has exactly what you need - keurig cups, water bottles, bathroom with shower, and microwave. He preheated our room before we arrived due to a snowstorm, and it was a comfortable stay in 30 degree weather outside. Overall a great place as there’s not much out here and the guy was very friendly. Great WiFi internet, too (60 Mbps)! Thanks!

We have stayed several times at The Timber Lodge. An enjoyable quiet getaway, beautiful scenery, very helpful staff, and the best fishing experience; just a short few-minute walk to the Trinity River… Steelhead trout and Salmon were biting on every cast, Wow!!! Woke up to deer just outside my rooms door! Weaverville is a short drive with great food options, movie theatre, and a gym! Will return!
