Super cute, super quiet and just lovely. The owner was able to get us in that day (because I forgot to call ahead). The rooms are clean and some have there own bathroom, others you have to walk a little bit for, but it's the south and just be happy it's not an outhouse. The breakfast is continental and all organic which is really nice. We were able to help my best friend prepare for her wedding there and the B&B made for a gorgeous backdrop for a gorgeous bride. 🙂

We were looking for a place to stay between hikes and that weekend happened to be the weekend of the Remote Area Medical event in Wise so everything else was completely booked. I lucked upon finding the Sugar Maple Inn and I was so glad I did. Shirley was really friendly and easy to work with. We had the whole house to ourselves and it turned what would have been just another random hotel stay into something that felt special. If we're ever in the area again, we'll make sure to make another visit.

We recently stayed at this hotel for the town's Bush Mill Days celebration. I was like coming home. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The downstairs was spacious, with room for several families to spend time together - to sit in the parlor, or in the dining room. They had free wifi (a rarity in the area) and a well-equipped kitchen available for use by the guests. This would be an ideal location for a small family reunion. This is a nice stop if you are doing the Crooked Road Country Music trail. Nearby, is Hick's Friday Night Jam, where local bluegrass and folk music musicians play every Friday, free of charge to listen. Carter Family Fold is also not too far away. The only downsides were that the bathrooms are shared with other guests, and there isn't a free atm in the town.

My friend and I stayed at the Ole Nickelsville Hotel for 2 nights. We were the only guests and the proprietors were out of town, but their employee Tommie made us welcome and provided us with everything we needed (including what we preferred for the continental breakfast and gettng her husband to give our car a jump in the morning when its battery failed!). It was such a charming and comfortable place to stay - clean as a whistle, quiet at night, nicely decorated, reasonably priced, and a great base for exploring the Crooked Road. We went to the Allen Hicks Jame on Friday night and the Carter Fold on Saturday, and had lunch at Teddy's, the locally famous restaurant a little bit down the road. (We had the room with twin beds and a bathroom down the hall, but some rooms do have an ensuite,)

I usually do not leave reviews, but really appreciate it when others do, so I decided I would write a review on this one. We really enjoyed our stay at this Inn! It was like we stepped back in time and that was fun. It was SUPER clean!! Honestly, probably one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. I usually do not sleep well in hotels, but I slept like a baby there. We would definitely recommend and definitely want to go back when we can stay longer.

Husband and I stayed for the week of race in Bristol. Had entire house to ourselves till Friday. Diana dropped in to check on us and advise us on things to do. Went to Hicks music fest on Friday. It is a must see. GREAT local talent. A friendlier place you will never find. Definitely recommend staying here!|Stayed in Bush Mill room. Yes it had a private bathroom.

My wife visited the area in Aug 2017 to see the Ralph Stanley Museum as other bluegrass related areas. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable and the wrap around porch was awesome for nighttime relaxing! ||||On our next trip to that area, we're likely to stay there again. It's only downside is something they can't fix; because of the mountainous surroundings and slow, serpentine roads, it isn't totally convenient to anywhere else. ||||Having said that, the area is not an area one should choose to enjoy at anything other than a leisurely pace Y'all say howdy to Miss Shirley when you call the Sugar Maple Inn, and ask her to show you the nearby "eternal" underground stream!

My guess is this Inn was once a home a long time ago. Today it’s an Inn with more charm than any little hotel could ever hope for. Located in a forested area, it has everything you need. The kitchen facilities are full, downstairs and common to all, which actually worked out great for us. The beds are very comfortable and the folks who run the inn are great to deal with. ||||We came from Texas and couldn’t believe they have no mosquitoes and no chiggers. It’s located in Nickelsville, VA which is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. ||||So, if you’re looking for a place to go in beautiful hardwood forests, this is a great place to stay!!
