Went there for lunch on a Sunday afternoon with the family. The vibe was great. They were busy, but we were seated right away and a had a comfortable booth. We ordered the brisket, pulled pork and portobello sandwiches with coleslaw and mac and cheese sides.

The smoking on the brisket and pulled pork was excellent and the portobello sandwich was really good too. The mac and cheese had just the right amount of kick to it but not too much. The coleslaw recipe was really good--not an afterthought like so many restaurants.

Highly recommended for an afternoon lunch. The three meals cost $80 including tip.

One of the best Texas style BBQ in Vancouver, if not the best. We got a platter to try all the meats but really enjoyed the sliced brisket the most. We also got the huck press and it was good but you might want to to try Negroni if that’s more of your thing. I do recommend the macaroni and cheese, it was legitimately one of the best versions I’ve ever had.

We also got a thing of BBQ sauce to go home with, they’ll probably jar some up on request for you if you want.

The vibe and service was great as well.

I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday lunch at Smokin’ Oak BBQ in downtown Vancouver, and it was an amazing experience! I ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of potato salad and beans, and everything was packed with flavor. The brisket was perfectly tender and smoky, the potato salad was creamy and well-balanced, but the real standout for me was the beans—just the right amount of spice to give them a kick without overpowering the dish. I did try a bite of another’s cornbread I’d say that could use some more work as it is dry to my liking. The atmosphere was great, and the service was friendly and efficient. If you’re a BBQ lover, this place is a must-try!

We tried "The Smoke Stack" and "Brisket Birria Tacos" with sides of Coleslaw, "Jalapeno Pinto Beans" and "Mac & Cheese".

The Smoke Stack contains samples of brisket, spare ribs, pulled pork and sausage. The brisket as well as the pulled pork did not have much flavor. The sausage was fairly dry. The short rib was tender and had a decent taste. The brisket birria tacos tasted like they had cinnamon on them which made the taste different than I was expecting, I was not a fan.

The mac & cheese was pretty good.

I thought the coleslaw good. It had a prominent onion taste, which my wife did not care for.

The jalepeno pinto beans were my favorite side.

Came here on a date with my partner, we made it in time for happy hour with intentions of trying the menu, getting a few drinks, and taking a bigger platter choice home for movie night.
Things started off okay, although we wondered why the food seemed to take longer than normal at any barbecue place we've been to. I got the brisket sliders and my partner got the brisket mac and cheese. While the brisket was very well cooked, tender and juicy, it had zero flavor whatsoever. Somehow it seemed as though it doesn't even have salt and pepper. My partner felt the only reason his mac and cheese was any good was because it had some sauce on it.
After we ordered we experienced a severe lag of service. It wasn't very busy in the shop tonight and we only saw who we thought was our server once, we had another guy race around asking if this where okay but with no follow up or offer to order more drinks. Finally we got The attention of one of the other servers who appear to be bussing a table and she put in an order for drinks, but we were well past happy hour at that point. By this time we had placed an order for our bigger platter to take home, and drinks were approaching empty but it took maybe another 20 or so minutes to get anybody's attention for another drink order while we waited.
By the time we got our bill and the food, we had been there for just short of 2 hours. Anywhere I've been, barbecue moves much quicker than that, and if it's taking its time I usually have communicative and decent service to make up for it. We really felt like we were treated poorly coming in because we were initially ordering from happy hour and they thought we were going to Be cheap guests And were deliberately ignored until happy hour ended to get a higher ticket value out of us.
It's not my style to leave long negative reviews like this, we felt very strongly about today.... Unfortunately We won't be coming back to this spot.

Excellent BBQ! Our first bite into our brisket slider with carmalized onions was so delicious! Then the brisket Mac & Cheese! Wow, to die for. Three of us shared the Mac & Cheese, it’s super rich and so amazing.
