The restaurant was crowded, with a cozy indoor waiting area. My boyfriend ordered the classic grits, eggs, and bacon, along with bone-in catfish. I told him the fins were edible too—they were crispy and flavorful. The fish itself was fresh with a thin, crispy fried coating.

I had the liver for lunch, which was fresh and tender, served with onions, adding a rich flavor. My boyfriend noted a distinct iron taste and suggested liver enthusiasts shouldn’t miss it. The cornbread and waffles were truly impressive; the simpler the dish, the harder it is to make it stand out, and these did just that, making me want to return. If you enjoy traditional Southern cuisine, you must add this place to your list.

This was my first visit to SSpoon. I've been having cravings for baked turkey wings and they delivered! The meat was tender and falling off the bones, and the brown gravy was ALMOST too salty but was perfect and added to the turkey meat. I also ordered green beans that were perfect. Not to crunchy and not too mushy. They were just right 👍🏽! I'm cutting back on starchy food so I got sliced tomatoes that tasted very fresh on a bed of lettuce 🥬 and asked them to hold the bread. I have enough for 2 servings and I look forward to going back again.
Enjoy!

Recommend the grits and the cornbread. The doorman was black, the folks waiting for seating was black, the customers were all black, the workers were black(except the Hispanic workers in the kitchen). I was the only non-black customer in the restaurant. The portions were enough and I left completely satisfied. Two thumbs up 👍 👍

I was recently invited by friends to attend a lunch at The Serving Spoon restaurant in Inglewood California. What a great restaurant and welcomed surprise this turned out to be.

I must say that my favorite places to eat are usually loved within the community, but sometimes forgotten or still unknown to others. As such, The Serving Spoon quickly became a favorite for me. It’s an old school dinner with fantastic staff who provide exceptional service. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, reminiscent of a bygone era.

I was pleasantly surprised by the reaction of people who saw the photo I posted in social media. A simple picture of me and my friends quickly became this out pouring of shared stories and personal comments that told the incredible history of the restaurant and its impact on the community. People spoke of childhood memories, family gatherings, and even life-changing moments that included meals at this beloved establishment. The enthusiasm left no doubt that the community of Inglewood California loves this place, and the people who continue to run it.

Yep, this place has great food service and staff. It’s clearly run by people who care about the legacy of this restaurant. The menu offers a delightful array of classic Southern dishes that seem to transport you back in time. I would consider this place to be child and family friendly. Theres parking out front and the entrance into the restaurant is ground level.

Thanks again to the staff at The Serving Spoon restaurant in Inglewood California… what a wonderful experience and an unforgettable visit. It wasn't just about the food; it was about connection, community, and shared tradition.

Parking lot situation was horrible and small. Food was delicious took a while but workers were nice and attentive. The veggie patty was ok I wouldn’t recommend it but everything else was really good!

Incredible, warm and positive atmosphere… I usually do not notice restaurants’ atmosphere (for better or worse) but the ✨vibe✨ in the serving spoon was exceptional. Food was also delicious- would certainly come back.
