I stayed at this location September 2018 when I had been caught in traffic from a horrendous fatality accident of a mom and her 5 yr old 😭😭, at the time I was 4 months pregnant, and just incredibly exhausted as I had been traveling from my home in Seward heading towards North Pole, as late as I got there, Cynthia's mom had met up with me and led me up to the B&B. My first impression was "oh boy" but when I walked in it was such a comfortable and welcoming space as if you went to stay at an old friends. The place was very clean, and omg that bed was so comfortable! Cynthia's mother was so very accommodating and nurturing and I LOVED spending time trading back country stories with her! What an amazing woman! Im a commercial fishing captain and spend a good amount of time in back country and just so nice to be able to connect with another woman and feel fortunate to be privy to her plethora of knowledge of our shared interests.
The other renters in the other rooms were also fantastic and I think it had every bit to do with that setting of comfort that made us all relaxed enough to interact with each other. The view is amazing. I have always loved Cantwell. Seeing the pictures of the changes is so cool! I love it. I look forward to staying there again this time with my other half and toddler.

One of the more eclectic places I’ve stayed in Alaska but worth it if you’re in the area. The rooms are clean with comfy beds. Ample, funky decorated shared space and amenities for cooking and hanging out. Morning continental breakfast starts early for those with a busy morning. Free laundry access as well. Staff were attentive and friendly. Negatives include sharing of the bathroom and television (not negatives for me however; thus the 5 star review). Definitely would stay again.

This place is decorated in thrift shop castoffs. The refrigerator had decaying food and breakfast food was stale and out of date. The bed was comfortable. Shared bathroom is clean enough, but you will be sharing with the owner and two other rooms.

The reviews on line didn't prepare us for this place. There were four thrift shop couches covered in throws in the living room. There was no heat on a chilly, rainy day and night. The breakfast offered was stale and out of date. The refrigerator stunk and was crammed full of unidentified food. The single bathroom was shared by eight people, and dominated for over an hour by other guests. We had to travel thirteen miles to find any decent food. Don't eat at the Cantwell Lodge. Breakfast was burned and inedible. Beds were ok. Bathroom was ok. Rest of the house needed a lot of cleaning.|

This was such an awesome place. Room was great. Cynthia, the owner is so, nice and caring. The Bar and restaurant was so fun. Met such amazing locals. Cantwell, is a small town, but has great people.

The shared bathroom was occupied for over an hour by 2 other guest at bedtime. The food offered was inedible. It was out of date. However the 4 couches in the living room (courtesy of GoodWill) allowed each of us our own seating . The temperature in the house required us to wear coats inside. The 2 am confrontation between the owner and another guest about payment fortunately did not end in gunshots. Need I say more?

We booked this place in nov 2021 for a trip in Jan2022. We had a few email exchanges with the owner who suddenly stopped responding. We got suspicious and canceled our booking before the free cancelation date and we are still not refunded. No response from owners yet. Ongoing investigation with credit card company.

Has a many rooms pretty big has a tv and Wii one of the rooms has a small sana in it has a nice kitchen with coffee pots toaster fridge like any kitchen has its a good place to stay especially for a snowmaching trip.
