Wonderful staff that made my stay feel very special! The hotel is so lovely and we enjoyed our accommodations! Loved the balcony and our room! We were overlooking the ocean and listening to the sounds of the waves were so soothing! Small suitable adorable little kitchenette that could service your needs during your stay! What I also loved is the location as everything is right nearby! This is a dog friendly hotel!

I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND this place, there are so many issues and I FULLY REGRET ever discovering their website. I wouldn't want anyone else to lose the money here hoping for vacation and ending up with a nightmare. Honestly, I hope that people choose somewhere honest so they do not have a bad experience I did and waste thousands of dollars just to find out. Hope the review helps.

Update: Owner responded to original post below and took no responsibility for horrid experience. No surprise. There are so many beautiful places to stay in Laguna honestly. In my opinion, it's not worth it to risk losing money, let alone thousands of dollars for an unpleasant experience. Surf and Sand, the Ritz, Hilton are all great depending on preferences. And you have more protection for the money you are spending. The owners comments are at minimum very revealing of what type of attitude you would be dealing with.

Choose your vacation spot wisely. And yes, these reviews and people's honest experiences definitely help in terms of getting that glimpse that you need. Especially to save someone else the heartache of a bad experience. I call it like I see it, Best Regards.

I don’t know where to start the place itself is beautiful! As soon as you arrive it feels more like a small house than a rental! Very cozy and steps away from the beach with easy access!! We stayed in villa 2 which was my favorite it has a good mix of privacy with its own balcony and amazing view! Parking was effortless and in front of our spot. but I’d have to say besides the fantastic views the best part was the SERVICE! ||Nasrin at the front desk was beyond accomidating and helpful and went even above and beyond to play happy birthday in the lobby for us and take photos of us with the beautiful background!!!! I highly recommend this place for anyone that wants amazing service and an amazing place to stay! Can’t wait to revisit next time!

Super sweet little villa with a full kitchen, comfortable bed and excellent view. We enjoyed the common area and grilling on our own private balcony. Slightly off the main road so most of the sound came from the ocean. The bathroom shower drain was a little slow and the blinds were a little rough, but other than that, it was great. There is not daily cleaning, but we prefer the privacy. ||||We had originally booked a room at 14West, but was offered this place for a reasonable surcharge. Well worth the money. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.

We had no issues with the typical things you would expect, however, we had a regrettable experience upon checkout. On August 20th 2023, a tropical storm was approaching which caused us to pack up and check out quicker than we typically do. In my rush, I Left 3 shirts hanging in the closet. I called management within 45 minutes of departure to ask them if they could recover the shirts and if I left my credit card number to cover the cost of shipping would they send them to me. They said sure. I was appreciative of their assistance. After multiple calls I was repeatedly told they would follow through with sending the shirts... I received nothing. One of two conclusions, they decided to keep the shirts, or they completely disregarded me.

We booked our stay at the retreat due to the proximity to the beach little did we know we were going to be having one of the most exciting experiences. We stayed from the 20-21 and booked to stay again from the 29-31 of January. We were attended to by Salvador at the front desk. He is phenomenal. The villas are quite extraordinary with everything you need in the villas. Full size kitchen, fire place enough towels, and even towels for if you’re going down to sun at the sand. At the retreat our first booking was for Villa Da Vinci and after that we booked to stay at Sleepy Hallow 2 and during our visit in June we stayed again at both Sleepy Hallow and The sunset Cove which are all being managed by one management. I strongly recommend this places to anyone who craves that awesome experience. There’s a supermarket at a walking distance, and lots of restaurants in and around the area and for a wonderful pastry experience, you have the Orange inn right there outside your residence.

My wife and I really enjoyed this place. We initially booked a room at 14 West on PCH, but we wanted to see the rooms in person before our stay, which the hotel was more than willing to let us do. The 14 West room we saw on PCH was pretty nice. It was clean, modern, and at a great location and for a great price. We asked about the property as we were kind of confused why we needed to check in for our hotel at the Holiday Inn next door. Turns out the owner of 14 West, who happens to own pretty much the entire block adjacent to 14 West (all shops/stores/properties), had recently acquired the Holiday Inn as well. Also found out he owns some proprieties across the street including these Villas, otherwise known as the retreat. We asked if there were any ocean front vacancies, and to our surprise there was one, Villa 6. They let us check the place out first and we fell in love before we even entered the unit, which is pretty much a one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen (not kitchenette), living room, dining area, and a balcony. As we were walking up to the front door we could hear the waves crashing on the shore and we knew this place was going to be super rad. My wife and I fell in love with it and decided to cancel our dinner reservations at a pricey restaurant because we could go out to dinner any time. We figured we’d save the money we’d be spending at dinner and upgrade to this place. It is soooo beautiful, and the villa is incredible. I seriously wish I could live here with my family. This place is a MUST!! The staff who manage these villas at 14 West at Holiday Inn (I know, super confusing) are so nice and courteous. The gal who helped us is, Emily. She was so kind, friendly, and accommodating. I pray this business treats her well. It’s so difficult to come across good workers these days who actually care about doing their job well. Emily is definitely one of those individuals. Thanks, Emily!!!!

We stayed in Villa Bella Mare last week. It was absolutely lovely. The pictures accurately portrayed the beautiful apartment. The view was gorgeous - we could see the ocean from every room except the bath! I highly recommend The Retreat in Laguna.
