Lovely hotel. Excellent location. It was safe and quiet being away from the road. The view was spectacular, could see the sunset and hear the seals and sea birds from our oceanview room. We could walk or bike to Hermosa/Manhatten Beach on one side or the Redondo Beach/Pier on the other. Room and bathroom were on the smaller side, but perfect for my daughter and I. Onsite restaurant had great food and a nice setting in the marina. Would definitely go back.

One of the best hotel experiences I’ve had! My family took a quick trip for my birthday weekend and the hotel made it so much more special than I could have imagined!||When we first arrived, Gregory greeted us and was extremely friendly. We had a very personable conversation, which I don’t normally experience at hotels, and was followed up with giving us great information and complementary drink tickets.||Our room was beautiful! Not only did it overlook the ocean, but had a wonderful balcony with table and chairs for us to watch the sunset at. They had set up a fun birthday surprise and note for me in the room to start my weekend off in a great way! ||During the entire stay they were extremely attentive, yet not over the top where we felt bothered. Although the room was set up perfectly so we didn’t need too much, when we did ask for something they were extremely quick and friendly. The bed was very big and comfy and the bathroom was amazing! They provide great amenities in the room for showers, etc.||Lastly, the espresso bar downstairs was a huge plus with a windowed wall to let in natural light and see the beautiful view while enjoying my delicious latte and muffin! I will definitely be staying here while visiting the area in the future.

We loved it! Timmery was amazing! She was so patient with us as we are from out of town. Highly recommend this place. The view is awesome and the seals are amazing. The staff is very friendly. We didn’t get a chance to eat and the restaurants looked amazing.

We recently spent a week at this beautiful hotel. The seaside location, first of all, is fantastic! Our balcony looked over the water where we all enjoyed watching the paddle boarders, and sailboats, and also being entertained by the sea lions nearby! My toddler granddaughter even started to imitate the sea lions and the seagulls outside our room… adorable! Everyone from Nigel, the valet, to front desk to housekeeping went out of their way to make our stay so nice! Baleen restaurant was very convenient and the food was delicious. We ate all of our breakfasts there, and they even remembered our specific coffee orders each day - thanks Hannah! We can’t wait to come back again! Kudos to the Portofino Hotel staff!

This hotel is fantastic! It boasts an excellent location, exceptional service, and well-appointed rooms. We booked through American Express and were delighted to receive an upgrade to a quiet corner room with a beautiful view.

The staff were outstanding—both the valet and the receptionist were incredibly kind and professional. The food was also excellent, making our stay even more enjoyable.

The location is ideal, with Manhattan Beach nearby and convenient access to Santa Monica and other attractions in the Greater LA area. The only drawback was the self-parking fee, which is $40 per day—a bit steep but understandable given the prime location.

One minor issue we encountered was with the late checkout process. While we expected it to be automatic for American Express Platinum card members (as it has been at other hotels), we were informed that we needed to request it verbally for approval. This was a bit unclear to us but is a minor concern in an otherwise flawless experience.

Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and give it 5 stars!

This is a fantastic property. The Balleen restaurant was perfect… Great drinks, incredible burger, and a very friendly staff. Walking distance to everything you want to see in Redondo Beach. Rooms were well-appointed and the bed was incredibly comfortable.

Such a great experience overall , Shawnta’ made my first time feel so amazing. She helped me get checked in so fast and easy and was able to answer all my questions. The room is incredible, comfy bed lots of pillows. The bar downstairs is so relaxing definitely recommend this hotel. My first time but definitely will be coming back soon.

A Home Away from Home – Exceptional Stay at The Portofino Hotel

We have been staying at The Portofino Hotel for nearly three weeks after being displaced by the Palisades Fire, and without a doubt, this has been our favorite hotel experience. Having stayed at multiple hotels during this time, we can confidently say that The Portofino stands out in every way.

From the moment we arrived, greeted with smiles and the warmth - the hospitality of the staff made all the difference. Every single team member we encountered was incredibly kind, respectful, and accommodating - not only to us but also to our young child. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was seamless, even with our unpredictable schedule. Despite late mornings in our room and multiple extensions to our stay, housekeeping was consistently thorough, and the staff reassuring us that whatever we needed was no problem.

The hotel itself is spotless and gorgeous - so clean that I felt completely at ease letting my child play on the floor with his toys. The rooms are refreshed daily, the towels are plush and fresh, and the provided robes add a luxurious touch. The room service and restaurant have great food with a variety of choices and served beautifully - mango juice in wine glasses for breakfast. The elevator has coral cutouts with backlighting and a large screen with ocean life videos playing which made the many elevator rides a fun experience. The have outdoor activities such as fishing and bike riding, we did not get a chance to do as we were not staying on a vacation, but we wanted to do so! Every detail is attended to with care, making it feel like a true home away from home.

If you’re looking for a place to stay - whether for a quick getaway or a longer visit - The Portofino Hotel is the perfect choice. It offers comfort, cleanliness, and exceptional staff and service that make it hard to leave. We will be recommending this gem to everyone we know and look forward to returning under happier circumstances.
