A lovely historic hotel situated in a charming area of downtown Bakersfield. Many bars, restaurants, and yes, even a nice little museum are within easy walking distance. Valet parking made arrival easy, and check-in was a breeze. An added bonus was that we were able to get into our room a bit earlier than the standard 4pm. We left our bags with the front desk, grabbed lunch and then got a call around 2pm that our room was ready. Reserved a King room and it was your expected smaller size that most historic buildings can accommodate. That isn't an issue - there's plenty of space for luggage, a nice little hanging cabinet and the bathroom was modern and clean. Lobby bar/restaurant was our savior on a busy Saturday St. Patrick's Day weekend. Food was delicious (try the burger) and staff was extremely welcoming and attentive. Did not visit rooftop bar, but could see it from our room and it looked like a nice space. A last minute bonus was that I had left some jewelry in our room and while eating breakfast a few miles away, the front desk called to let me know. We would happily stay here again!

Not worth the price. Might have the best reviews for the area, but after staying here, that doesn’t say much for the area. ||Beds are uncomfortable. They have a feather topper on the mattress that pokes and scratches. Requested a new one, and they brought a pillow instead. Went to remove it, and found that the mattress was covered in hair, crumbs, and stains. ||At check out, they attempted to charge the valet to both rooms we had, even though we only had 1 car. Their explanation was we had 2 tickets, which is odd because they only give you one to use during your stay. No apology, just an ok we will remove it. ||If you stay here, check your receipts. Based on the attitude of the person, it seems like common practice to try and charge random charges and fees.

Overpriced. For being the “best” hotel in the area, doesn’t say much for the area. Mattress had stains, hair and crumbs on it. Mattress topper was filled with feathers that were scratchy and pokey. Requested a cleaning and new topper, neither happened. Valet parked the car, and they tried to charge both rooms for the valet. The explanation was they thought we had 2 cars. Had we not noticed, they would have gotten away with it.

Would expect more for a place rated so high, and the price being much more than the rest of the area.

A wonderful stay in an immaculate hotel. The room was bigger than I thought it would be. I stayed on the top floor and the room had high ceilings. Feels like a 5 star boutique hotel. If you are there on the weekend they have a club that is packed with live DJ and good music. The staff was amazing and helpful. The value is there.

I grew up in Bakersfield and the Padre Hotel has always been an integral part of downtown Bakersfield with it's mysterious past, fascinating cast of characters and tenants and former owner Mr. Miller. The bar at the Padre was always fun and a regular part of my 20s. I actually celebrated my 27th birthday in 1989 on the hotel's rooftop. I have stayed at the Padre twice since it has been remodeled and both times were great experiences. The room, the staff, the food, the bar and the decor are all 5 Star experiences. I highly recommend the new version of what was a Bakersfield iconic historic one of a kind landmark!

It was a fine choice for $130 a night. Not sure it's worth more than that. Super nice hotel front desk team. Gym is very poor. Treadmills are not usable. Some dumbbells. Great restaurants, like Zama a block away with lots of other choices. On-site restaurant and bar delivers either a one star barf or a 5-star great, depending on the night, so head off property for a better experience.

The room Farmers Daughter was everything we needed after a stupid amount of time on the road. It was tired and definitely in need of but comfortable nevertheless. The bed has to be the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! |Jacuzzi lights were broken and windows/blinds were knackered. |Staff weren't particularly helpful and you felt like you'd put them out when you called. No menu in room but felt like it was my problem. |Valet service excellent.|Restaurant food is very nice but service was slow and they looked at you like you weren't welcome. We eventually got a server and he was fab but drinks took a while to come.|I think there is a nightclub there and it will wake you up. It was so loud even at 8th floor.|Still the room gave us some.e temporary luxury that was needed

Room bed is hard as a rock. But literally the only reason I chose this hotel over a nearby one was that it had a fitness facility. I spend 200 days a year on the road and have never seen a more poorly maintained fitness center in my life. The treadmill skips, the other is directly below a low ceiling with a fire nozzle above it so you cannot run on it without hitting it. Nothing is clean. Nothing is maintained. Everything is ancient. For a hotel priding itself on being four diamond, it has the fitness center below a Super 8 motel. Will not return.
