Quaint cool store. Gotta do ice cream, Lavender is a local fave.Coffee was also good. Jams, sauces, kitchen wares and local art and crafts stuff. Upstairs is some interesting antique stuff. The staff was great. Popular spot for cyclists rolling through.

Best experience I had in town. Michael, Patrick and their employees are very sweet and genuine. Had the chicken, bacon ranch panini and I think the Caesar salad was the best in the state!!! Would give them 10 stars if I could.

I,m gonna give this place a five even though it has been under new management for only three weeks. Patrick made me a cheese and tomato Paninni that was fantastic, along with the potato salad and chips! I got a cup of coffee that was Hot and not Luke warm most places, it was very good. The service was exceptional and once they get more items on the menu it will be one of those Kick Stand Up trips to see the country side and get a good meal.

We stopped on Sat after Thanksgiving as we traveled from Charlottesville Va to Fairmont WV. The products were nice and good quality items. The food on the other hand left a lot to be desired. We ordered BBQ pork sandwich and nachos. The pork was sooo fatty that it was not palatable for us!! Total waste of our lunch!! We don’t complain, but instead don’t return unless for something other than food!
All personnel were friendly and nice.

On the way back from a Vermont fall colors trip, just had to go a little out of the way to see, and experience, some of the West Virginia area that the YouTube couple, Wild Wonderful Off Grid, call almost heaven. Yup, pretty much.

So we stopped at the Lost River General Store; I had the pulled pork sandwich and my wife had a chicken panini. OMG, the best!

Have to admit though, it was all I could do not to by a square, amber vase they had in the window. I have no use for it but, it was gorgeous and reasonably priced.

Check out The Lost River Inn and General Store, even if it's out of your way. Almost heaven.

PS: best colors? West Virginia

On a recent get-away to the Lost City, WV area we stopped by the Lost River General Store. We pulled in minutes after it closed but the absolutely lovely owners welcomed us in anyway - we were conscious of the fact that they were closed so tried not to linger too long, but still didn't leave without a beautiful decanter, a beeswax molded tea candle lantern, and some of the BEST cookies and mini tarts we've ever had. They only have weekend hours so sadly we didn't have another opportunity to go back and spend more time or enjoy the cafe, but it's definitely on our "go again" list. DO NOT MISS this little gem, it is well worth the visit!!!
