We had a fabulous stay at the Lodge at Black Rapids! We found the staff and owners to be friendly, helpful, and fun to be around, and the food AMAZING (hats off to Chef!). We made good use of the sauna and the hiking trails out back which were fun to navigate in fresh fallen snow. If we lived in Alaska, we would make the Lodge a regular getaway, for sure! Highly recommend.

Overall appearance and condition of the lodge was not as advertised. Some areas are in a state of disrepair. Lodge area was filled with “stuff” not necessarily welcoming to guests. View was excellent, however, balcony decking was not attached and unsafe. Dinner was average at best. Owner appeared less than appreciative of our business. Other staff very kind. Would not recommend this lodge.

The best and friendliest staff. Ava was so helpful to my group. The lodge was situated on a hill looking at the mountains with a beautiful view especially during sunrise

The lodge is in a remote location and is so unique that it is worthwhile to go out of your way to stay there. The rooms are special each room with its own design and art. Dinner served was excellent as well as the service. Breakfast was wonderful as well and the lunch box we asked to take for the road was really nice. Definitely recommended

Annie is the best. She saved our lives. We were stranded outside our car as darkness fell by the Castner Cave trailhead, with temperatures plunging to -40 degrees. Desperate and in danger of freezing, we called her for help. We did not stay at her lodge, but she didn’t hesitate—she came to pick us up and even arranged for a tow truck. Without her kindness and quick action, we might not have made it through that night.

Amazing place! A beautiful lodge and the other guests were wonderful. The bed was so comfortable, the prix fixe meals were delicious, and the hot shower was just what I needed after a day of snowshoeing. Regret missing the sauna but after the hiking, food and wine, I couldn't keep my eyes open. It is unexpected luxury and warmth in the most beautiful, mountainous solitude. Amazing that they can provide so much in such a setting.

Stayed here for one night before our planned hike to the Castner Glacier and really wish we had stayed longer. The lodge feels like it is far away from any civilization and is surrounded in all directions by gorgeous mountain views. Our room was beautiful and super comfortable. We paid ahead to have breakfast in the morning and were treated to a delicious home cooked meal with more incredible views. Definitely recommend staying here if you are passing through Delta Junction.

This off the grid wonderful Lodge was the highlight of our Alaska visit. The staff was attentive and helpful. The rooms were clean and pretty. Food was good, not fancy but satisfying. Rooms were comfortable. ||I don’t necessarily recommend this place for a quick stopover, especially if you are going to check in late and check out early. You need to stay a few nights to fully enjoy what it has to offer and relax. ||We booked a private tour for the entire 4-night stay. The guide the owner selected for us was awesome. We explored the surrounding area, enjoyed the hot tub and sauna, and hiked the property. ||WiFi is spotty but we had not expected much better. There is no cell service but my phone worked on WiFi setting in the public parts of the Lodge. You are in the middle of nowhere. They have to generate their own electricity. The closest supermarket is almost 3hrs away. The last thing I missed was a TV or hairdryer. ||We booked all inclusive, so meals, beer and wine were not an issue. Coffee was good, hot and always available. Wines were very good. Beer selection was Alaskan.||Yes, it’s expensive comparatively, but there is nothing in Fairbanks (2:45 min away) or Delta Junction (0:45 min away) to compare this Lodge to. If you like scrambled eggs out of a plastic bag at the Marriott and breakfast at 6:00AM, this place is not for you. I plan on visiting again next time we adventure to Alaska.
