Was meeting clients in town. Stayed here after booking on my phone. Didn't check photos - wish I did. Woke up with massive sinus issues. Upon taking a shower (which was falling apart quite literally) I noticed a ton of black mold under the floor baseboard. I haven't had sinus issues like this before, kept me out of work for days. Contacted management who played it off as other factors outside of their establishment so I've reported them to the proper authorities for inspection and state compliance. It honestly should be condemned.

Pictures showed a quint and cozy little inn. Not so!! The carpet wasn’t even vacuumed let alone the nasty stains. The bed so uncomfortable we both woke up with aching backs, wore flip flops in the shower it was so moldy, the walls so thin we could hear the folks talking next door. If it wasn’t so late we would have left!

Not a queen bed! This room was advertised as having a queen bed, but it is a full mattress with a footboard. Hence, if you are over 6 foot two you cannot lie flat. I am over 6 foot two So I slept terribly. deceptive advertising. Everything else was fine. Carla was very helpful and accommodating. Location is good. But please notify people that it is a full size bed not a queen!

Very nice person on staff, but the traffic areas of the carpet was nearly black with dirt, and the bed linens were probably over 20 years old. A section of the bathroom floor sunk under my feet- probably rot from a leak. Unfortunately a racoon knocked over the garbage bins during the night. That didn't bother me, but the staff was injured and couldn't put the trash back in the bins. I was horrified to see a large rat going through it in broad daylight. On the plus side, breakfast is not included. With some serious investment, this place could have potential. I have travelled extensively in the third world and am not bothered by much, but I'd rather stay in my car.

We were going to stay two nights at there, but ended up leaving within five minutes viewing. It had a bad odour of cigarette smoke and mold (even though the info about The Inn says smoke-free). In addition, the room was incredibly dirty with stains on the carpet and hair on the bed, as well as dust throughout! It does not seem to be maintained professionally. We had to book another hotel to stay the night with extra cost. Very disappointing experience!

We were very disappointed in our stay here. We were in the patio room which smelled severely like smoke even though it was supposed to be a nonsmoking room. The carpet was dirty. The blankets / bed smelled like smoke so we didn't sleep well. And the towels left us feeling dirtier than before we had showered. We texted the host the next day to let her know of our concerns but did not hear back. If we had seen similar reviews, we would not have booked our stay there.

I’m just reading a couple reviews from a few months ago and man, people can truly be very rude and over exaggerat! Of course this isn’t like your staying at the Ritz, Carlton or Kings Palace because that’s not what the overall feel is supposed to be and for two, the building is how old and is still in amazing condition. It’s more of a down south southern kinda sit on your front porch and look out at the world type of place. Not to mention where it lacks in its overall looks, the hospitality here is absolutely phenomenal! Miss Carla does a great job running this inn all by herself and she truly does go above and beyond the customers needs. All the way down to spending her own personal money to purchase gift cards for a little coffee shop down the way for guests to get a coffee and pastry for themselves. I know 100% that everything there is impeccably clean also because I’ve watched this poor woman run around like a chicken with her head cut off getting each room properly in order for each guest. I frequent this little Inn multiple times throughout the year and have for many years now too. If something doesn’t feel right you should be an adult and contact someone before leaving awful reviews that bring a family owned business to lose clientele. After doing that if your concerns aren’t taken care of properly then you take different measures. The last couple years of reviews are far from fake by the way. Please don’t make assumptions that could possibly be untrue. This is just a cute little Inn on the water being family ran and are people just like you and I trying to survive the absolute best way we possibly are able. Carla(manager) I know would gladly make anything right if its brought to her attention, I’ve watched her do it on at least one occasion and it was a beautiful thing too. There aren’t many good people in this world anymore like her. I will continue to frequent The Inn at Penn Cove for as long as she stays open. Carla, keep doing what you do and don’t let the ignorance of some people bring you down or rain in your parade. Til next time I see you, take care of yourself!

This is not an “Inn”, but a room in a house where someone put locks on the door. The manager/owner is very friendly, but this place has no business being rented out. Something was wrong with the electricity, so extension cords were run up the stairs-very unsafe (tripping hazard and we were told the electrician warned against using too many outlets). The one room we rented was clean, but the rest of the house was cluttered. The fencing was propped plywood. We had to request towels and soap. The price was astronomical for what we got- $120/night. If this place was assessed, I believe it would lose its license.
