My mother and aunt are retirees who enjoy national parks and historic sites (I'm an historian). I proposed a midweek trip to visit to Sharpsburg, Maryland, since we'd never been to any of the parks in that region. Friends strongly recommended a stay at The Inn at Antietam, and I'm glad they did.||The proprietors were so friendly, from the time I called to make the reservations, to them waving goodbye as we drove down the driveway. The three rooms we booked were spacious and very comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious! We were given excellent dining recommendations in both Sharpsburg and nearby Shepherdstown, WV. ||We were made to feel at home, and that's exactly the type of respite we needed. I definitely will recommend The Inn to my family, friends, and colleagues. And, I look forward to a future stay.

From the moment you arrive you feel like family. Beautifully designed and implemented B&B. Hamish greets you at the door and Miriam and William seem to have every need you may have already addressed. We stayed in the glorious “old kitchen” room and were amazed at the details. Muffins were cooking when we arrived and breakfast was wonderful. Location is within minutes of the battlefield. I would definitely go out of my way to return and recommend it highly in every regard. Thanks

We enjoyed our stay very much! The innkeepers are super friendly! Their dog, Haymitch, helped us feel welcome. Our room was very comfortable and clean. We loved our breakfasts. There were lots of tasty options on top of the hot meal. You are very close to Antietam Battlefield for exploration.

This was our first stay at "The Inn" and we truly enjoyed ourselves. The hosts were very welcoming, the room was quite comfortable, and the breakfast was large and tasty. | We enjoyed our conversations with the other guests as well as with the hosts. Our only complaint was that we had booked only one night! Thanks for everything!

My wife, family, and I have stayed at The Inn at Antietam so often, and in various combinations, that I've lost count not from forgetfulness, but because sand melts away in the hourglass of this perfect place. And it inspire you to come up with word thingys like that last sentence.||And now, dear reader, I find myself embedded in the Potomac Room, not for my delight but for you. I endure every luxurious detail and every blissful moment as a sacrifice so that you may know the truth from inside this place reflected in this “in-country” review. Or is that ‘inn-country”?||Every luxury that I endure – the cloudlike bed, the morning sun through the picturesque-framed windows, the exquisite banter from the innkeepers, the breakfast so magical that it's as if the culinary with from nearby Black Rock Mountain has cast her spell on the delicious table fare emanating from the kitchen – I do so selflessly, all for you dear reader.||Miriam and Will, the Inn's brilliant keepers, have crafted an experience so warm and welcoming that I sacrifice myself to it again and again for you. I may have sacrificed it over six or seven times now; one is unsure when you care so much about others.||Just know this, the Inn is perfect. It is so fantastic that the powers-that-be decided to put a National Battlefield next to it just in case you wanted to venture out. I continue to suffer its delights so that you may follow my lead. As I lounge in the library, I remind myself: this is not for me. I do this for the review readers. Come on, I have paved the way oh so many times for you. Is it impossible to leave – yes. But I will for you, at some point, to free up a room. You're welcome.||Postscript: If either Miriam or Will exits the kitchen and says, "Would you like?" just say yes; what follows does not matter, it will be delicious!||Seriously, it is perfection in the B&B world.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Inn at Antietam for a fall weekend getaway. Miriam, Will, and their dog Hamish were wonderful hosts and made us feel at ease and well taken care of. The Inn itself is cozy, clean, and packed with historical touches. We especially enjoyed the delicious homemade breakfasts and chatting with our hosts, who are such kind people and offer a wealth of local knowledge. We look forward to coming back to visit!

This B&B is a quaint little escape just over an hour outside DC. The rooms were clean and cozy, and the breakfast is TOP TIER, cannot stress how great the food is!
Miriam & Will are great hosts and full of great info both on the historic house and the surrounding areas/activities.
Just down the road from the Antietam battle field, it’s clearly the main attraction, and a fun way to spend a Saturday! The Inn and its owners are 10/10 top to bottom, will certainly be back!
