The location is amazing. My husband and I love the scenery. We do a lot of traveling and this was the first hotel we have stayed at that had a pool/spa that we actually went to. (We work as maintenance technicians and have our CPO) walking into a pool area and not having the smell of chlorine is a great thing (Pool chemicals are on point and pool is clean).

I’ve seen some reviews regarding the resort being outdated. I don’t believe. It’s actually outdated, I believe it’s meant to have the vintage(original) look. The resort is clean and we both were really impressed with that and the maintaining of the building. The only thing we weren’t so fond of was the ice machines. There was only 3 that we could find. 2 of which were out of orders. They also only have them on the 1st and 3rd fl.

We loved how the room was still decorated/designed as the original. There balcony has two entry points, one from the room and one from the sitting area. The newer jetted tub was also impressive. We didn’t expect that at all.

The only issue I had with the room is that there was an area that smelled of wet dog. Other than that it was a great place to stay.

what a nice place to stay wile in the area. my wife and i stayed here with a package to the house on rock attraction included with our stay. ( we came for the holiday decorations). I dont know why people are complaining about this place, its great. the size of the room is impressive for this price point. i liked the layout as well. our snoring can keep us both up so having another room to go to is a plus for us. ||The location is great. only moments away from the area attractions, house on the rock, tallison, and town. free parking, complimentory soaps. had plenty of towls, and the beds were comfortable. coffie maker in the room clean and a variety of pillows. ||the hot tub was closed do to repairs, but the pool was open. I would definitely stay here again and recomend you do to.

The resort is a great place to stay for the weekend if you’re planning on visiting the House on the Rock! The scenery is amazing, the golf course looks really fun to play, and the rooms were “outdated” sure, but it feels time-period accurate and have a cabin-like vibe to them.

I have visited this resort before and had a wonderful experience, but it has changed completely.
Everything at the resort is closed. The restaurant, pools, hot tubs, spa, every amenity they have to offer is not available. They did not mention any of this upon booking.
They have no wifi and there is no cell phone service in there area so navigating when you are from out of town is beyond stressful.
The room was absolutely filthy. There were dirty socks under the bed, the sheets were covered in mud? Some sort of brown substance and the room smelled like a stinky locker room. When I brought this up to the front desk attendant they sent fresh sheets to the room and dropped them off. That was it. I would at least expect someone to clean the room that obviously hasn't been cleaned.
We ended up leaving a day early just to avoid sleeping there again.
I highly recommend doing some research before spending hundreds of dollars to stay here. I definitely won't be coming back.

What a wild experience we had. We - apparently - visited during the off season. Something we hadn't been informed of nor did the prices reflect. The bar, pool, restaurant, spa, fitness center were all closed. At times, we were the only car in the parking lot.

The kitchenette in our room had absolutely no plates/cups/utensils, and we had to ask at the front desk for paper plates and plastic forks to eat leftovers. There were dead bugs in the bathtub.

My husband ordered the "romance package," and we were given an $8 bottle of sparkling wine, two plastic champagne flutes. It also includes a "couples massage" during which we were taken to separate rooms and given the most lackluster massage I've ever experienced.

It was like being in David Lynch's Twin Peaks. We were - luckily - going to the weirdness of The House on the Rock, so at least it was on theme.

We were so excited to stay at the House on the Rock resort. The setting is absolutely wonderful and the employees were very nice and friendly. It has 2 pools and a whirlpool but were closed for maintenance. We were aware of this before booking so it wasn't a surprise to us. We had a 2nd floor suite w/ a bedroom & living room with a small kitchen and the view from the balcony was stunningly beautiful. In the morning, while having coffee on the balcony, we saw 4 deer on the grounds. Next are the reasons that I gave it a 3. The carpet was covered with stains (pictures attached) and I kept my shoes on while there. The bathtub has mold/mildew on the grout and a rust stain around the drain. The tub caulk was peeling off and while we had a king size bed, the mattress had very little firmness to it. I did share this with the morning desk person before we left. The rooms just look tired and need to be updated. The carpet needs a GOOD cleaning or replacement. The intake/return vent for the air was covered in dust. Once again, I would like to say that the employees were very friendly and nice to us but I wish someone would update the hotel.

I don't believe for a second these 5 star reviews are legit. The magic of AI spambot technology! We visited in August and all the 1 star review descriptions on here are 100% accurate. It was such a liminal experience. Nothing was open. A massive hotel with minimal occupancy. We stayed two nights and never once saw a cleaning crew or cart in the halls.

I feel like there needs to be a community of House on the Rock Resort survivors who can talk through the surreal experiences they have gone through. I mean, imagine calling yourself a "resort" and you don't even have coffee. We had to drive 20 minutes into town for some gas station coffee.

Truly a head scratching experience. How do they function? Was it real? Did I actually just dream this visit? I don't know anymore.
