Staying at The Francis House in Calistoga was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The beautifully restored historic property exudes charm and sophistication, combining vintage architecture with luxurious, modern touches. Our hosts, Richard and Dina, were genuinely warm and attentive, ensuring that every detail of our stay was perfect.||The ambiance throughout the property was serene, making it feel like an intimate retreat. Our room was meticulously designed with elegant decor and thoughtful amenities, creating a cozy yet refined space to relax. The pool area and common spaces were just as lovely, offering a peaceful setting to unwind.||Being centrally located in Calistoga, The Francis House made it easy to explore nearby wineries and restaurants, yet we found ourselves eager to return to the comfort of the hotel. ||Richard and Dina’s personalized recommendations for local wineries and dining—shared before we arrived and throughout our stay—were impeccable, adding a truly delightful and thoughtful touch to our experience!||This boutique gem is truly a destination in itself—an unforgettable blend of history, hospitality, and elegance. We loved it and look forward to visiting again!

The Francis House is an exceptional place to stay. The owners Dina and Richard have put their heart and soul into creating a wonderful experience for their guest. Every morning I woke up excited to see what wonderful breakfast that Dina had planned. Amazing food! We also enjoyed meeting other guest that were frequent Napa Valley visitors.

We took a weekend away and absolutely loved this place. It was early March and thus a bit cool/wet but we had a wonderful time. Richard and Dina are exceptional hosts and very welcoming. The rooms are updated and chic. You can tell that no expense was spared, and Richard and Dina meticulously care for the property. We were debating between the Four Seasons and here, and definitely made the right choice. Dina made wonderful dinner recommendations/reservations as well as a private tasting in the caves at Chateau Boswell. I can't wait to return...hopefully in warmer weather to use the beautiful pool and tennis court.

Pre-trip experience: I have a confirmed stay booked for early March for my honeymoon. I booked the hotel due to its consistent 5 star reviews. However, I am already disappointed in the customer service. I have been trying to contact the house to confirm our stay and book a couples massage for over 3 months. The phone number on the website is disconnected and my multiple emails and Instagram message have gone unanswered. I see from other reviews that they are still in business and have had an ownership change, but I am dreading my stay and wish I had booked elsewhere, especially for the price and such an important milestone trip.

Post-trip update: We completed our stay in early March 2025. I can confirm that the property is operational, still in business, and is being maintained. A few days after my first review, the Francis House updated the phone number on google maps & instagram. A few days before our stay, we were put in contact with a property manager who welcomed us onsite with a brief tour. Beyond the welcome tour, contact with an onsite manager was minimal and it wasn't clear if/when someone was available. My e-mails and messages were still never answered. It felt very much like we were on our own. For the pros: the rooms were nice, the location was exactly what we wanted, and the freshly prepared breakfast by a hired chef was delicious.

Overall thoughts: After our 3-night stay at Francis House, we stayed at another small B&B in the area which was the same price for 4 nights, on-site concierge, and a full on-site spa. I would explore all options when booking a Napa/Sonoma trip. Overall, I would classify Francis House as acceptable and a tad overpriced.

We stayed at The Francis House for our annual wine country trip and it was the best ever!!! Richard and Dina are fantastic hosts and go above and beyond to make sure your stay is exceptional in every regard. Breakfast is different each day, and wonderful each day. The story of the house/hospital/restoration was fascinating and the pictures show how remarkable saving this house was. The amenities are perfect and very comfortable. Calistoga is a welcome change from the hustle and bustle at other spots in the valley. We loved it and are planning our return now.

My fiancé and I stayed at the Francis House just last week. It was an absolutely magical experience. Richard and Dina were incredible hosts, they made us a feel at home. From breakfast every morning, to playing tennis, lounging by the pool, we loved every minute. Our room was spectacular, the amenities were of the highest quality, further adding to the experience. The location is confidently close to the Santa Rosa airport and within easy reach of all the wondrous vineyards Napa has to offer. I could not recommend this property more, we are already missing it and can’t wait to plan our next visit!

Last week, we stayed at The Francis House for the first time, but not the last. The restored house is beautiful and comfortable and Richard and Dina are fantastic hosts. They help with everything--getting impossible to obtain tastings and dinner reservations, as well as advising on Calistoga and the surrounds. Breakfast was a highlight each day, and different each day. We are already planning our return visit.

Our stay at The Francis House was enchanting! Such a gorgeous property… truly breathtaking inside and out. Gorgeous pool, backyard area and the interior design was so beautifully curated and elegant. Inside, the space felt incredibly comforting, as though we were visiting friends. The delightful scent added to the experience. Dina’s and Richard’s service and attention to detail was exceptional. They were very kind and friendly. AND cooked us the most delicious breakfast each morning. Overall, it was a memorable experience. Thank you for creating and sharing such a breathtakingly beautiful space with the world!
