The food was great- especially the bacon! A true farm to table operation as stated. Service was exceptional. If youโ€™re planning on visiting The Breakfast Nook, please be mindful of their business model and patient with the staff. The atmosphere is cozy, but it is very small and seating is limited. It is cash and check only with an ATM on site.

My boyfriend and I were camping in Dolly Sods and had our hearts set on eating at The Breakfast Nook in the morning the next day. It was chilly outside when we arrived, so it was a relief to come inside and have the warmth of a fireplace. Since we had our big backpacks on, the locals were all curious and friendly, talking to us, asking us questions and also telling us about life in this area and the surroundings. To get to the point, the food was amazing! Farm fresh eggs collected that day, juice squeezed right in front of us, maple syrup harvested from a local farm. You can't get more farm to table than this. We also found out that this restaurant is half run by young people, part of a program that trains young adults on how to transition into the responsibilities of adulthood. So the kitchen staff and servers were all young, very friendly, and eager to help. We talked with a couple of them about hiking too, nice people. We ate every single bit of food on our plates, it was all so delicious. We felt at home, comfortable, and had a great experience. We hope to come back!

A neat place to enjoy the nice home-style atmosphere from the moment you walk in. They're giving younger challenged people the opportunity to have skills that will carry forth for a lifetime.

They have their quirks and mannerisms (we all do) but the service and meal was exceptional. It was a cozy start to a great day in Canaan Valley.

My husband and I had heard about The Breakfast Nook's mission as a transitional, life/work experience for teens and young adults. This touched our hearts, and we knew that we needed to support this business! I am so glad we did! We had a regular eggs and bacon meal, fresh and hot off the stove. The coffee was the best that I have had on this trip. The bacon was to die for! It was served by a friendly young lady who was very conscientious, and eager to please.
I have read other reviews that seem very unfair when you look at the entire picture of The Breakfast Nook. The menu is not huge because the food is freshly prepared and cooked. The service is not always perfect, although I have no complaints, because these young people are learning as they go. If you enter with this in mind, you will leave with a full heart, and a full belly.

We had breakfast with a purpose at The Breakfast Nook. This place is amazing! This restaurant, farm, & catering business is a live and work environment opportunity for emerging young adults to learn through on the job training to become independent through real life experiences, guided by mentors and life coaches. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ These amazing people are doing amazing things. The staff was very friendly and my breakfast burrito was yummy and made with their own farm fresh ingredients. Talking with Mike the owner was the highlight of my day. Getting to hear about his business model and how his main objective was just to teach these young people life skills with love and hard work.

I very much enjoyed my experience here. Our waitress was very freindly and accurate with our order. I was wondering if some of the reviewers on this forum where even aware of the fact that this business focuses on giving true life skills for people to be the best that they can be in a real world working environment.

Had breakfast here Sunday morning. I loved this cute little country nook with sleeping rooms above. Reminded me of the old west. We took our seat in a corner booth right by the door and I was taking it all in. Soon after we ordered a lady walked in and was greeted by the same young girl who greeted us. They announced they had 8 people and the girl looked around at the extremely limited seating capacity and asked if they would want to sit at the bar as it was the only thing they had available out of the 21 total seats. The guy running the place loudly announced that they didnโ€™t have enough seating for 8. Then turned to the girl (greeter/waitress) and told her, โ€œto shut upโ€! ๐Ÿคฏ Then a few minutes later a woman and her son walked in and started to sit at the bar and he hurried to tell them, โ€œcould you not sit in these seats. Move down and sit at these seats or those seats. So if anyone else comes in we will have enough space.โ€ If this is his idea of stewarding young adults in love. He needs some training himself on the subject. I was appalled and furious the whole time we were there from the initial entry and sit down.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the Golden Anchor cabins and this place is the closest breakfast spot, so we decided to try it out!

***Be aware that itโ€™s cash or check only!** they do have an ATM inside.***

We LOVED being able to support their mission and heart to help teens serve and work. Go in with patience and compassion and youโ€™ll have a better experience than some of these folks who wrote negative reviews. The food was good too; we each got the Nookie Scramble and their special that day: duck egg French toast. Keep up the good work โค๏ธ
