We were debating between this and The Nines, but read the rooms there were a bit outdated. I heard they recently upgraded The Bidwell, so we thought this would be the better choice. Being Platinum, we were able use our guaranteed late check out benefit. I booked the pre-paid rate about 2.5 months prior. I'd advise against doing this as the rates went down closer to our stay. $494.96 was charged at booking and the rest was paid at check out which included the destination fee of $30 per day plus taxes and fees.||Our room was great! The corner room had plenty of windows so provided nice views and a sitting area when we wanted to chill with some friends. The closet and bathroom were a little small, but was fine for what was needed. Robes were provided, but not slippers which was a little odd. Luckily, I brought some disposable ones. We were doing an early anniversary celebration which I noted prior and the hotel gave us a bottle of complimentary bubbles and a bar of chocolate. A very sweet gesture and was much appreciated.||Being platinum, we would have had access to the M Club regardless of the upgrade. The lounge was a nice place to chill, grab some coffee, sodas, snacks, etc. We never took part in the free breakfast, but I did go down one morning to check it out. It was a nice moderate spread - eggs, breakfast meats, cereal, etc.||The destination fee included - $30 daily at High Horse (resets at 12 noon), 2 tix to the Japanese gardens, bike rentals for 2, and equipment rentals: hiking gear, day packs, shoes, hiking poles, longboards, games, art supplies. We only used the credit at HH once and nothing else. I do wish they would lump it all as one $90 credit (for the 3 days) since we didn't spend much time at the hotel. Then it wouldn't feel like such a waste.||Location was great and we explored downtown quite a bit. A friend of ours was here for his bachelor party, so we met up with them a few times. Helped being close to most of the clubs. We more or less walked everywhere. Only took a rideshare a few times during our stay.||Staff was excellent as well. Super friendly at check in and check out. The assistant manager Tina reached out via email a day prior to welcome us. Little gestures like this are always appreciated. I was able to let her know we were arriving early, checking out late, and celebrating our anniversary. Everything was noted which made the whole stay go smoothly.||Definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking in stay in the area.||REVIEW #3717

We had a wonderful time during our stay at the Bidwell. We requested a corner room and had a beautiful view of the city. Our room was spacious and clean. The hotel bar makes amazing drinks. The service was impeccable--Room service, bartenders, but most importantly the valet service. Josh from the valet service is amazing! He goes over the top to know everyone's first name, he's incredibly friendly and efficient. He went above and beyond to help us find a lost phone. Josh saved the day! Don't hesitate, book your stay at the Bidwell Portland.

I didn’t have a great experience at the Bidwell. It started off with an embarrassing front desk encounter after a long day of travel. I’d booked the room on the app and it was in my husband’s name (I didn’t realize that- as we have had the one app, one account for 20+ years) The tone of the clerk was condescending and I was totally embarrassed. They made me get my husband in the phone. I appreciated the rules but it was handled poorly in front of my work colleague. (I wasn’t trying to get a reduced rate, upgrade, anything. I just wanted to check in) After, we grabbed food at the High Horse. The waiter was so disinterested in us and had no answers to questions about the drinks or menu and never came back for refills or anything. The restaurant only had a few guests. I asked which craft beer was a paler ale and he just shrugged. It was so odd. I will say consistently the staff person that was at the front door helping guests was very friendly and outgoing.

Jarod was our server and amazing and was so welcoming. He greeted me immediately after I sat down, was so personal and friendly. I asked what he recommended for dinner and he gave me his honest opinion. The food he suggested did not disappoint. I left a happy camper with a full tummy. |Kelsey made our drinks and they were absolutely delicious. We were so happy with the service and food. |The manager Jacob came over and checked on us. He as well is just as friendly. I came here for work but would recommend this location and hotel to many. If you’re coming to the Portland area, this hotel will not disappoint

Had a nice corner room at the Bidwell and it was very quiet. The front desk checkin experience was great as they took great care of my family. They offered suggestions for restaurants, but we decided to stay in and eat the first night at their restaurant. Jared took wonderful care of us and the food was very good, surprising actually!|Easy to walk around to most of downtown from the hotel.

Stayed at this hotel in the fall. Was so blown away by my experience that I booked it for my next visit to Portland. Made the reservation over a month in advance of my stay. Hosting a client event in town and directed everyone to book here. Checked in online the day prior to arrival only to show up and be told they are oversold. They moved me to a hotel down the street which they allege is similar quality. It is not. As I write this from the new hotel I cannot go to sleep because of the screaming kids in the room next to me. Paper thin walls. Turns out they bumped several in my party to small room for an oncology conference. Rest assured, future visits to Portland will not be booked here.
