Great casual place in Penn Valley( off of highway 20). This place has been around 60+ years and is a local favorite. They have a full bar that is separate from the restaurant and is always busy. They open for dinner at 530 pm(make reservations!)

The food and service is awesome! I split a massive New Yorker that comes with one trip salad bar and fluffy baked potato AND garlic bread for 30 bucks! The food is cooked on an open fire where you can watch everything being cooked. The steak was juicy and definitely rivals any steak I have had at more expensive restaurants!

The wait staff is super friendly and work really hard. SPECIAL thanks to Leslie with her outstanding service and great attitude! Janelle and Tammy B were all working hard with a smile - from server to cook to bartender these 3 women were rocking it!
This is a very casual place with the customers also being friendly and genuinely having a good time! My experience was top notch and I will be back soon...oh and it smells yummy in the restaurant!

Best pork chops and steaks ever. Never disappointed. Reservation recommended. We usually ordered curly fries while waiting. Meals served with bread and choice of two kinds of soup or salad from self-served salad bar.

It is not fancy but a very fun place to go. The food was excellent, I enjoyed their salad bar. Seeing your steak grilled right there is always fun. They were busy, still the staff was attentive and communicated that they would be right with us. And they were. I understand that busy can happen, letting us know is all that I ask. They really didn’t make us wait more than a few minutes. If you haven’t been there, you should go!

Legit is legit and this place is that. The barkeep on the Saturday morning I arrived was super spot on, attentive, and anticipated mine and many of the guests every need. This was the Champions League Finals day and Chelsea won — nobody at the Tack knew or cared but I felt totally welcome. And their double burger was hot, hearty and paired with tasty spiced curly fries. And they have a shuffle board, woah nelly.

We love this local spot in Penn Valley! You feel like you’re having dinner at a friend’s house. The decor is comfortable, the service friendly, and the food delicious. I usually get a New York steak and baked potato. My husband is more adventurous and tries different things every time - pork chops, calamari & steak, and lobster & steak. The food is always consistent and good!

Rack of Lamb is their Wednesday night special...delicious!

I was a little concerned that being lamb it may taste a bit gamey...so happy to report that was not the case, more like the awesome texture and taste of steak!

Wonderful servers... powerful drinks. Everything you would want in a Steakhouse!

As a long time patron of the Tack Room this experience makes me not likely to return. I was a party of one on a Saturday evening and seated just prior to a group of 13 entering. The only server was focused on this group so I placed my order through the young lady grilling. She accommodated my dietary need but the halibut and grilled zucchini were barely warm yet, halibut pale and overcooked. Took myself to the bar for a cocktail and never saw our server until after I asked for the bill. Best part was the cocktail and baked potato, cooked perfectly and hot.

Great place, great food, great atmosphere. Will definitely be back. Love it. The bar side was cool as well. The bartender was really sweet and on top of drinks after dinner. Our party played shuffle board for a few hours after dinner. It was a good time. Definitely recommend it if around Penn Valley.
