10/10! Needed a crash course in some more advanced techniques that I hadn't done in years and wasn't feeling too confident about. Monica squeezed me in and paired me with Louie, gave us some bonding time instead of just turning us loose, and we had a great lesson that highlighted strengths and weaknesses exactly as it should! Louie was spectacular and very forgiving, very gentle and calm too. Monica knows all her horses very well and is a great judge of when to push and when to dial it back and recenter which was perfect for someone trying to remember their technique from a long time ago. It built confidence without risking safety for horse or rider and was a wonderful time! Very fairly priced too and will definitely return for some more lessons, starting from basics so I can build these skills up again the right way.

Bonus points for Burgie the rescue Dane and certified lap dog!

Fun, 4-H, to show ring. Trainer covers just about everything in a quiet, peaceful surroundings. Monica Whitmer takes people on trail rides, carriage rides, special events. With a full size dressage Court. She has something for everybody.

Great instructor. Went from knowing nothing about horses to being able to groom/tack and ride at a decent beginners level. Always more to learn and Monica takes every opportunity to teach new things. Highly recommend.

Fantastic place to go play with your horse or take lessons. Monica starts new riders with a great foundation of safety. This facility offers too much to begin to list here! Reserve a carriage ride or take lessons on your horse or one of the lesson horses and enjoy the peaceful desert. A hidden gem in the AV for sure.

I grew up riding with Monica at Sweetwater Ranch! I went on to ride with some top riders in barrel racing, worked carriage rides for Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Homestead in South Dakota, helped start a breeding program, started my own lesson and training program in Texas, and went on to work as the lead riding instructor at the accredited school, Pearblossom Academy in Mississippi. None of that would have been possible with out the strong foundation Monica provided me with as well as instilling the same love and passion she has for such an incredible creature. I can not say enough good about this place or the owner!!!

Parking is a bit hard but the owner is friendly and seeing the alpacas was fun. They're so soft! My parents were delighted. A unique weekend trip.
