The owner Sean is awesome. Service was great! The views are amazing. Scuba diving was a lot of fun. We saw tons of rock, fish, shrimp and an octopus and some nudiebroncs. The rooms are acceptable and clean, but that's only because they're old. Even though they've been updated. There is construction going on as one part is knocked down they are rebuilding it with new construction and they will continue doing that until the whole resort is new construction.

I bring my scuba class here once a month. The new owners of sunrise are amazing and they are spending all money that it makes on improvemtbs. This is not the old sunrise any longer. And I'm happy to go and stay there. I can't wait for the complete remodel and new buildings that will be done in the next year or so. The diving is great. Or just the views of the canal. Give sunrise a chance and be patient while the upgrades are going on. If you never stayed here with the old owners you don't even know how much better it is now. It's great to see them actually care about the hotel.

This was our 2nd time at Sunrise and both times have been amazing! The stuff and new owners are so helpful and welcoming! Their remodel is making the hotel fantastic. Because of the remodel they upgraded us to the cottage and it is an amazing unit. It has everything you need to enjoy your weekend. A home away from home. Each bedroom is on the opposite side of the unit giving you some privacy. They also called to let me know I left my Kindle and are holding it for me until I come back next month. We definitely can’t wait to go back!

The new 2 bedroom cottage that my grown children stayed in is gorgeous, has air conditioning, and a well stocked kitchen. The 2 bedroom remodeled queen was not air conditioned and has no windows that could be opened, and it was a very warm night. Also very close to the road, so bring earplugs to drown out noise. Otherwise, great views, clean rooms and comfortable beds. Staff very nice and accommodating to our need for a late checkout for a reasonable fee. Close to hikes at Olympic National Park, such as Big Creek Upper Loop and Staircase Rapids.

Please be advised, I am now aware I booked a room which has not yet been remodeled, and I hope the others are far better.

The location, is amazing, and I wish I had time to try their very reasonably priced kayak rentals. If you're into it, I also witnessed a whole pack of scuba divers in their natural environment while I was drinking coffee from the on site cafe, I believe they were carrying out a beginner class. As a disabled person, I also very much appreciate how I could park right next to my room, for ease of loading and unloading. The rooms are also a mad decent size, being a more residential living/kitchen, bedroom, bathroom layout as opposed to the more studio apartment type layout of larger chains.

The less than stellar: sound, and mold. I had missed my window for a camp site before dark, so I was greatful for a place on short notice, but do be advised that as they are right, right on the road, like 20 feet from it, with single pane windows and aged hotel insulation. You'll hear all of the traffic going by, and I mean all of it. Luckily, having been planning to camp, I was able to set up my air mattress in the living room section of the suite, close the bedroom door, and, sleeping with my camp pillow, press the provided pillows into service to muffle the sounds coming through both doors.

Also, to go with the residential feeling of the layout, full sized fridge, and kitchenette (two burner gas range, microwave, coffee pot, toaster - what more could you want?) they also provided dish soap, sponge, dishes, assortment of glassware, and pots. The pots were the issue. I'd been delighted that I could heat water for tea, until making my second cup I noticed the mold, visible, green and white, on said pot. Not too much a worry since I'd literally drunk from a lake the day before, but I did use my camp pot for the second cup and subsequent food prep. Washing up was a treat though, having not seen a full size sponge while in the wilderness.

The rest of the room, I'm glad they're remodeling. Definitely shows it's age as a retreat, but it certainly beat a tent set up in the dark.

I'll be coming back, to be certain, but when I bring my wife I'll take care to book a remodeled room and inspect the cookware more thoroughly.

Ocean view, remodeled rooms, and a great price. We loved our stay here! It was clean, we loved the view from our rooms, and we were able to purchase scuba tank refills right on site. The owners and staff were friendly and super helpful. We were able to scuba dive from shore and had a fantastic time. Great location for a scuba getaway with friends. Thank you, Sunrise!
