I spent a day on the boat with Sundiver. Three dives for the price offered is a great deal. Throughout the day, there were snacks, fruit, a cooler filled with drinks, coffee, etc., and a full lunch – all very good.
The crew gave a short briefing about the dive sites before each dive, and after each dive, there was a boat call.
I had full rental equipment that was in good condition. I would have liked to rent a dive computer as well. Luckily, I found a buddy who had a computer.

Nothing short of a five star experience. Catalina trip in early May was a blast. Water temp was surprisingly good and the sun was out. Dolphins and seals followed our boat the whole way out. Smooth seas for someone who gets easily nauseous like me. The captain and crew are beyond kind. The captain is truly a gem and is so knowledgeable and helpful, meanwhile Nikki the deckhand is so courteous and I’m crushing on her. They took care of us with so much food throughout the day and everything was so delicious, all the snacks and the homemade soup and cornbread was just so divine. The price is great and seriously it was one of my best dives so far. We are only OW certified so we weren’t deep but visibility was great and no current really. We traversed the stunning kelp forest and made friends with a seal, saw a 300lb sea bass, and lots of lobsters, rays, and little critters. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!!!!!

I have had the opportunity to dive on the Sundiver several times and highly recommend them for some great Catalina Island diving. Captain Kyaa knows pretty much every dive site around the island and does a great job finding the best spot for conditions. She also caters to divers of all skill levels and makes sure the sites are suited for everyone's comfort level.

There is always plenty of food and the atmosphere is one of camaraderie. I started going alone and always felt comfortable. Now having had the opportunity to meet a few people and make a few dive buddies, it is even better.

Safety is taken very seriously before and after every dive, with roll-calls and double checking. The crew is also great, and John, Nikki, Ruby, and Kyaa are nice to talk to and make the day fun. You may also see the occasional "Mermaid" if you look close enough, 🙂

Thank you again to Kyaa and crew. Looking forward to the next trip.

Great time diving with captain Kaya and the Crew Nikki and Jon this last Sunday. Good food on board and professional fun experience all around. The spots on Catalina Kaya took us to were fun to dive and the crew were on top of each and everything the whole time. Hope to come out and dive with them again

I had a great dive experience with Kyaa and the Sundiver boat, with two trips to Catalina Island last Friday and Saturday. Kyaa and her deckhands, Mo and Taylor were helpful. Kyaa had good knowledge of the dive sites and gave good briefings. Safety was never a concern and I was satisfied with their roll call procedures. They were flexible with their dive sites and when conditions weren't perfect, they were happy to go to another dive site (fuel and time were not concerns to them). They truly went out of the way to make sure we had some great dives.

However, I did wish that they put more effort into their COVID-19 procedures. I had a chance to compare Sundiver with another popular dive boat company, Spectre/Cal Boat Diving, and the differences were huge. Although I understand that proper social distancing is not going to be implemented perfectly on a dive boat, even at half capacity, there were things they could have done to make sure things were more sanitary/safer. My largest concern was the food. Food was mostly not prepackaged, with chips, salad, cookies and trailmix presented in a bowl/plate and everyone dipping their fingers in (no public serving utentils were used.) The lunch spread was bread and deli meats/cheese, and again, there were no public serving utensils used. Plastic utensils were placed on the table, but no one (including crew members) used utensils to serve themselves, and the crew didn't say anything about it.

What can you say about Sun Diver. Gave 5 stars because that is where it stopped. The captain took us to amazing dive sights. Took into consideration the levels of all the divers on the boat. Spot on briefing of each sight. The crew was right there to help get in and out of the water. I will be boking my dive group with them again.

Kyaa and Ray rock! For every group of divers they have the boat. Overnight trips? They got a live aboard. Fast trips to Catalina, they got the fastest boat that can carry over 20 divers. Small groups that really want to move, they got a 6 pack that can be at Catalina in under an hour. They know the best sites with the best conditions and the coolest underwater creatures. They will keep you safe and well fed. A great dive operation
