My wife and I were traveling from Chicago to Washington DC on the Capitol Limited Amtrak train and we stopped for the weekend in Harpers Ferry.

Having arriving in Harpers Ferry by train, the location of Stonehouse B&B was perfect, especially since the room we booked was the ground floor and was only accessible from the parking area off Potomac; no need to walk around the block to the front of the building. The tradeoff was that we had to walk around the block to the front of the building each morning for breakfast.

Breakfast each morning was modest and filling. I very much enjoyed the opportunity to chat with other guest and the hosts each morning. I was able to add a few things to our to-do list from these conversations.

The one major issue we had was with the noise. The room we booked was on the ground floor under the kitchen and deck / patio. Every step and chair movement was transferred to our room. The first night there was a child running on the patio which was so loud and bothersome my wife had to step out and talk to their parent about it. Perhaps it's for this reason ear plugs are an amenity provided in the room.

Overall, I would definitely stay with here again for the location and the hosts, but I would absolutely book a different room.

We loved our stay at the Stonehouse and canโ€™t wait to come back! My husband and I stayed as a treat to celebrate his birthday, on our Pgh to DC bike trip. We absolutely loved the โ€˜Newโ€™ room. It was so nice to sit on the porch and gaze out over the valley. Plus I love watching the trains roll in and out of town. If youโ€™re not a train person, they even have ear plugs for you. But we love them! Cass made us a delicious hearty breakfast that fueled us up very well for our last 60 miles on the trail. I also really enjoyed talking with her. Stonehouse has such charming and historic character, with great modern updates. Truly looking forward to coming back.

Reserved the New Room and the views were spectacular. Clean room and nice bathroom area. However upon check in the AC had not been on at all. The room was very hot and took hours to cool down which made for a sleepless night. We arrived after dark in the middle of a rainstorm. Of course you canโ€™t unload in front of the property. We were aware of this - only because of reading reviews. We had not received any check-in information prior to arrival. No lights were left on at the front entrance. We arrived to a locked door and no one answering the doorbell or contact number. Finally with the use of flashlights located a folded piece of paper on the door with entrance information. This would have been helpful to have received prior to arrival or if lights had been left on we would have noticed the paper on the door.

Breakfast was ok but not what we thought would be offered. Service was also just ok. Did not have the service we have known and love when staying at other bed and breakfast locations.

Overall an ok kind of place but not what we expected.

The B&B could not have been in a better location! We stayed in the New Room for a two night get away. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was quite large and the shower was great. Can not say enough about the private balcony. High enough that the view of the water was beautiful. Even when the street below was packed we did nor really hear it. The chairs were comfortable and it was delightful to sit outside and read. We brought a white noise machine which ended up being exactly what we needed with the train so close. The only thing I would do differently would be to bring an eye mask for sleeping. The room has skylights and a ton of natural light even with the blinds pulled down so if you prefer darkness to sleep a mask would be a good idea. The breakfast made by the owner was good. There is a great coffee shop a few doors up the street that we visited both days. Parking on site was a huge bonus.

Amazing! Affordable with a cozy atmosphere. We stayed in the New Room and enjoyed the view of the train station, John Brown museum and the Potomac River. The balcony had plenty of seating and a comfy swing. Beautiful walk in shower. Chris, the owner, was friendly and accommodating. Free parking behind the house was a nice bonus! Delicious breakfast and coffee. Plenty of board games to play. We can't wait to visit again.

My wife and I stayed two nights in the New Room for a weekend mini-cation and we fell in love with the place. The room was charming and the atmosphere was perfect. Very clean and temperature controlled. The bed was very comfortable and the furnishings were charming and not typical of an old bed and breakfast, as other reviews have noted as well. The private en-suite bathroom was huge, clean, and with a large walk in shower.

We had our own covered private balcony overlooking the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers where they converge, and a beautiful view of the lower town along Potomac Street. A porch swing and two comfortable padded patio chairs and a small table to relax with a bottle of wine, also with folding chairs. You won't get a better view in town from your room anywhere else. Location is right smack dab in the lower town and within mere steps of restaurants, pubs, and the historic national park sites. Nothing further than a 30 second to 2 minute walk.

You won't find better parking in town and it comes with the room and you park directly behind the building. But you probably won't need your car as everything is so close.

Chris, the owner, is an awesome dude and fun to talk with, and the breakfasts he prepares are delicious and rival any 5 star hotel chef breakfast. We were impressed from top to bottom at this bed and breakfast and highly recommend it to all and will return. I can't think of one negative thing about the Stonehouse Bed and breakfast.

One of our overnights cycling the C&O Towpath. Really wanted to see this colonial town for the architecture and history. Our stay at Stonehouse B&B was wonderful. Chris was very accommodating as we had traveled about three hours in the rain and were wet from head to toe and muddy at that. We stayed in the Gray Room, a nice roomy space with a hallway bath to ourselves. Breakfast was delicious. The only challenge staying in Harpers Ferry is that you have to get your gear and bike up to the walking bridge - a couple flights up. After a long day of riding - it was something we were not expecting but hey - that is what an adventure is all about. Unfortunately we were not able to eat at the Rabbit Hole due to maintenance but there are a couple of other places close enough to walk to. The area we were in had several places to visit historically that we also enjoyed.
