Totally worth the time and money! Four of us got 5 dishes: salmon sorrel with avocado, fluffy pancake, the fritt omelette, chicken chop salad, and the ricotta toast. I don’t know what it was called, but the long grilled veggies on top of salmon sorrel was so good. Citrusy scented pesto rice paired well with the perfectly baked salmon and creamy avocado. The omelette topped with comte cheese was like pizza. The chicken salad was fun with bunch of different vegetables. The pancake, was something else, was the best out of all the pancakes that I’ve had from other spots. The brioche with all the jams was amazing. Loved every bite! We got so stuffed afterwards. 🤤

Loved the pesto bowl. Great balance between the toothsome rice, zingy pesto, funky sheep cheese, rich avocado and smoky bacon. A great meal by any measure. The French toast is incredibly rich and feels like you’re eating a little omelet with every bite. Beware of the nap that ensues.

I went out of my way based on a recommendation from a friend. The food here is incredible, yes a bit pricey but so worth it. I got the loaded pesto bowl and the yoghee pancake and I wish i could have it for breakfast daily. The food felt very fresh, came out quickly and I savored every moment. As someone who loves breakfast, I cannot recommend Sqirl enough.

Wow the food here is amazing! I had the crispy rice bowl with sausage with a fried egg on top and a strawberry matcha, the best brunch I had while in LA and they have the cutest vending machine in the store with mini art prints for $1 each!

A place for very expensive sandwiches with a remarkable slice of unforgettable Comte cheese.

Mine was $23 after a 25 % tax added to it. On the Xmas eve why not make capitalism nice again.

It was a rainy day. Miserable as any Xmas eve has been for me for nearly a decade. I was going to sit on the extreme fringe of the outside seating area but the rain ruined that plan. So I stood outside waiting for a table to open. A nice server with a watchful eye helped me find a seat. She gave me several options but I picked the worst. It paired well with the day. It was awful but near a window. Kind of like life many times. Pick a window seat and you can let your eyes sooth you into forgetting life. I sat with the edge of my table jabbing into my belly and a trash receptacle behind me. It was cramped and I had to suffer the Xmas music I’ve been avoiding all day. Maybe the rain all over me would have been better.

Anecdote of the month: a guy with a grinch costume was in line ordering food. I didn’t see a mask so was a bit disappointed.

The sandwich had amazing bread. It’s soft and pretty to the eyes. It’s toasted to perfection. The crust is perfect. Crusty but not too crusty. The turkey was soft and not too tasty but it was good anyway. The bacon was obnoxiously hard to bite through so it’s a fail for a sandwich. Plus the bacon wasn’t tasty at all. The mustard was pretty good. A Dijon type of mustard but with a distinct fresh flavor. The cheese!

I learned today that Comte is a Swiss cheese type of cheese. It’s better than Swiss. It made the sandwich leap out of mediocrity regardless of the bacon fiasco. I can’t speak enough about how the cheese was exceptional. It made my day liveable.

Apparently this place is known for its bowls. I wasn’t in the mood for a bowl. I don’t think I’ll be back though.

I ordered water which never came. That’s because the table behind me had a water spout and metal cups for water. The water was reminiscent of public school water fountains.

The restroom has an amusing picture. The narrow hallway to the bathroom has a big picture of some random old dude. I saw a framed award thing from James Beard. I wondered if the old dude was James Beard but google told me no. I left wondering who the old dude is and hope not to have obsessive nightmares about it. Don’t judge me for not knowing what James beard looks like. It’s actually a good thing to not know.

The staff here are upbeat and look out for their customers. The cheese saved the day for Sqirl. Without the cheese this place is a 4 star place.

Meter parking outside.

Got the Loaded Pesto Sorrel Bowl and I had them split it to be half kale and half rice. It came with Bacon, avocado, poached egg, and a lemony dressing. It was delicious and well worth the wait!

I purchased two jars of jam from the shop next to the cafe. The staff member at the front desk around 4pm on wednesday was incredibly kind and helpful. I asked for recommendations for a jam as a gift for my mom, and he provided detailed and friendly explanations, which made my day. Thank you for brightening up my afternoon!

As for the cafe, the toast was good, and the staff member at the front desk who took my coffee order was also very kind. However, the servers who brought the coffee to the table were just soso. I paid a tip, but it’s a bit unusual that they deliver coffee and food to the table but don’t bring utensils like forks.
But still such a wonderful cafe tho!

Sunday afternoon- We sampled several items on the menu for lunch since we were famished, and the food was great! We were a group of 3 vegetaorans( who eat egg) and had a lot to choose from! It was our first time there quite by accident.

The service was friendly but the place was quite crowded. The portions are great for the food...the fluffy pancake is huge!- except for the drinks.my "aunties chai" came in a miniscule cup probably best suited for an aunties high tea...haha

Having said this the only drawbacks about the place is finding parking and even if you do, crossing the very busy road to get to the restaraunt was an adventure in courage! And the same can be said about the prices- it came to around 100 bucks for 3 of us!!!

Will hazard a visit again for the food if im in.the area...we were lucky to get a seat at the table inside..limited seating.
