Our stay at The Speckled Hen Inn was incredible. Heather and Tom went out of their way to make us feel so welcome. As we happened to be the only guests at the inn during our stay, they ended up upgrading our suite. This was so kind and totally unexpected. The beds were unbelievably comfortable - we slept like babies! The food was amazing - we loved Tom's welcome cookies and all of Heather's delicious breakfasts. Even though we were the only ones there, we were still offered breakfast specials each day and each one was spectacular. We also got to spend some quality time with Tom meeting the animals on the farm and even bottle feed one of the lambs. We loved learning about all of the special jobs and purposes the animals served - definitely something we never would have learned without Tom's expertise!

Overall, it was so refreshing to stay at a place where you can tell the owners really take pride in their inn. We so appreciate their attention to detail and all of the lovely conversation we had along the way. We are so thankful for such lovely memories made.

We've had a lot going on recently and needed a relaxing weekend, which is exactly what we got staying at the Speckled Hen. Tom and Heather are wonderful and gracious hosts. The Inn is large, clean, and comfortable. Our room was well appointed with super comfortable linens, towels and robes. We enjoyed the double whirlpool tub in our room as well. This is an actual bed and breakfast, which means that a delicious breakfast is served each day. We appreciated their timely responses to email, especially when we requested to change our reservation. Rita was able to bottle feed one of the 3 day old lambs. Super easy access to I-90 and the city of Madison. We were grateful for our weekend at the Speckled Hen to decompress and focus on each other.

We had a wonderful stay at the Speckled Hen Inn in March 2025. Tom and Heather were wonderful hosts who provided incredible multi-course breakfasts, tours to meet their animals, and recommendations of things to do in Madison. The accommodations were great too and were very cozy. We would definitely stay here again the next time we're in Madison!

My husband and I had a wonderful weekend! The breakfasts were delicious and we loved our room. We were so close to Madison, but had a little oasis to come back to with animals to watch out in the pasture. We would definitely stay here again!

We LOVED our experience at Speckled Hen Inn! The kind and helpful hosts Heather and Tom took good care of us and also gave us our space for our honeymoon. The room was pristine and the linens, towels, and robes were very high quality and comfortable. The breakfasts were varied and super tasty. Additionally, we really enjoyed meeting and learning about the animals on the farm!

Great place to stay! Can't think of enough superlatives to describe the quality of this B&B or the folks (owners) who run it! My girlfriend and I stayed there 2 nights over Valentine's Day. Beautiful location, excellent breakfasts (made to order), quiet location, Heather and her husband, Tom, are outstanding hosts! We will certainly return one day.

My spouse, Teri, and I just returned from three days at the Speckled Hen Inn in Madison, WI. The fact that this was our ninth visit in ten years (COVID) is testament to the warm feelings we hold for the Speckled Hen and in particular, for the two lovely hosts, Heather and Tom. We make our annual visits during the Christmas season, and even the most dyed in the wool Scrooge would be quickly brought around by the picture postcard decorations and the creative, scrumptious breakfasts prepared by Heather. The sleeping accommodations are marvelously inviting and comfortable to the nth degree, with in room gas fireplaces and large jacuzzies. All this and animals, too . . . Including a llama!||The Speckled Hen Inn is located in a lovely country setting, but only a surprisingly short car ride to downtown Madison with all the shops and restaurants and NCAA Division 1 athletics readily available. Go Bucky! ||Teri and I have stayed at B&B’s all over the country, and none exceed the comfort, warmth, and attentiveness found at the Speckled Hen Inn. We offer our highest recommendation.

The Speckled Hen Inn is a truly delightful place to spend time, including during the colder months. I stayed there for three days in late November, and found it to be cozy, with high quality amenities and furnishings. The setting is beautiful; the windows of the inn on one side look out on a well maintained field complete with sheep, a horse, and a llama named Lilly. The animals are far enough away that you don’t hear them from the inn, and the hosts are happy to introduce you to the small menagerie if you indicate an interest in seeing them up close. The hosts also have chickens whose eggs are used as part of the breakfast. On the other side of the inn is a beautiful gazebo and fire pit.

Hosts Heather and Tom are lovely, and are happy to talk to you about the local places of interest and offerings. The breakfast is delicious, and you choose the next morning’s fare by circling your choices on a menu the night before.

If you plan to go to Madison and its environs, this is the place to go!
