Fabulous sailing adventure with Captain Blain & Monique on S/V Bob. Sailing, whale watching, fishing (snagged halibut, prawns, king salmon, dungeness crab), sights, hikes and much more on a exquisitely appointed boat crewed by ever positive Monique and Blain. The delicious gourmet food was an unexpected surprise! Additionally, both of them are experts on region's flora and fauna. This was a world class experience revealing Alaska's full beauty -- our friends occupying the other two cabins concur! Highly recommend. Don't miss sailing SE Alaska on S/V Bob!

BEST. SAILING. CHARTER. EVER. Alaska is magical and Blaine and Monique enthusiastically share their knowledge of the local flora and fauna. They are accomplished yachtsmen and skilled outdoors enthusiasts. The S/V Bob is a well found yacht, with nicely sized, en suite, individual cabins and generously sized common areas above and below decks. The food is an amazing, constant, gourmet delight. And Blaine and Monique are nice and fun people to be around!

An unforgettable trip. Loved the food, the company, the activities and the landscape. Blain and Monique were great captains and took us on adventures to see glaciers, whales, go on hikes, catching shrimp, see a bear (from the boat), kayak…all the while getting to see SE Alaska on our own. Amazing trip! Recommend for anyone looking for a more intimate SE Alaska experience than a cruise with more activities and unique experiences. Thanks Blain and Monique!

They don't give you enough stars to adequately rate Bob, Skip, Captain Blaine and Mo. Everything about our trip was unforgettable.
The wildlife was amazing. From the whales (SO MANY WHALES), sea lions, sea otters, bears, eagles, and some strange pink birds just outside of Sitka.
The scenery is impossible to beat, rain or shine. Tenakee Springs was a highlight. Fly fishing in an Alaskan River is an experience I will never be able to top.
Blaine and Mo are magicians in the kitchen and can make anything and everything you catch taste like a 5 star meal. Salmon back home doesn't taste as good now that I've had fresh caught Alaskan Salmon.
Not a day goes by where I don't think back on our trip and I hope that we get to experience Alaska again one day soon.
We all miss you guys!

This week long tour of S.E. Alaska was totally eye-opening for us about the breadth and incredible beauty of SE Alaska. Blain and Monique are excellent hosts; their flexibility and collaboration and humor are evident as they share each day's work. They create a very casual, welcoming atmosphere even though they're working hard to keep the trip on schedule, etc. We learned about sleeping whales - something we, as experienced NW sailors, knew nothing about! Sailing and motoring to a variety of islands brought us to beautiful hikes and beach walks. We loved the stop at Tenakee Springs - what special place. The beach fire and s'mores on the last night - with a perfect sunset - brought us back to camping days. We'd definitely come again!

FYI: Blain and Monique are superlative hosts / tour guides / storytellers. Anyone who is able to take a trip with them through the wonder that is Alaska, can say it was a trip of a lifetime.

Prior to this trip, my family and I had no experience with any sailing experience. In fact, I'd never set foot in an ocean cruise or a boat bigger than a kayak.

Seeing as how we were in the mood for travel, but the rest of the world was not in the mood for US tourists, we jumped at the chance to go to Alaska - the farthest we can get in this new era - and quarantine ourselves on a sailboat with Blain and Monique.

They turned out to be the warmest, kindest hosts you could ever hope to meet. From the first moment of sitting together in the cabin and seeing them draw out the map of our upcoming adventure, to tasting their culinary skills upon each fresh catch of the day, to playing board games every evening, to listening to yarns about baby otters and crazy oceans... every minute was a blast.

This was a typical day: wake up to a fresh, delicious breakfast. Go up on deck to spot whale tails. Read while sipping hot coffee or tea. Explore a mussel-covered beach or woodsy path. Repeat. There were hours upon hours for talking, reading, musicking, and resting your mind in silence while being hypnotized by blue waves.

I would reconsider this trip if 1) you're traveling with people you dislike (a sailboat is a pretty cozy space), 2) you have a pathological fear of whales (even through binoculars), or 3) you must have Wi-Fi access (the feeling of freedom from not having internet was a relief for my family).

Otherwise, follow Blain and Monique's packing list instructions carefully and prepare to have an incredible time.

What an amazing time! Blain and Monqiue were the most incredible hosts - knowledgable, fun, caring. We sailed around from Juneau and saw amazing wildlife, hit some hot springs, and really got to enjoy the company of each other and Blain and Monique. I couldn't have asked for a better vacation, they made us feel completely at ease and taken care of, while also letting us get in on some of the fun in catching our food. Never had a better time and I can only hope I get to sail with the BOB and co. again!
