We chose the Sonoma Food, Wine & History tour as an activity for a girls weekend and it far exceeded expectations! Caroline led us at a comfortable pace through Sonoma, helping us discover so many local treasures while sharing interesting stories about the area’s colorful history. I’ve visited Sonoma many times and thought I knew where this tour would take us. But I gained new understanding of the town’s history and was pleasantly surprised to discover many new interesting things and lovely places as we were warmly greeted at each stop. The three hours flew by but was a perfect length to leisurely enjoy Sonoma Square, meandering down quaint alleys and enjoying delicious and generous lunch, treats and wine. I highly recommend this tour for first time visitors as well as those familiar with Sonoma!

We attended the Sonoma Walking Food, Wine, & History tour on a Saturday at 11am. Caroline Brown was our tour guide. She was full of great smiles, laughter, insightfulness, Sonoma historical knowledge, and wonderful energy! It was a great way to start our 1st full day in Sonoma; providing us with ideas on destinations. Caroline was full of suggestions based on our interests & desires... so helpful! We had a wonderful afternoon with Caroline as our tour guide - she had great stories and gave me some new insight into Sonoma as well as suggestions for the rest of our trip. I liked having a small group (7 guests total) and the portions at some of our stops were awesome - definitely a full lunch + sweet treats on top of tastings. Highly recommend!

Great food tours solve three problems: finding hidden gems, learning the real story, and meeting the people who make a place special. This tour delivered on all three.

What made it work:

The preparation was invisible. Each stop knew exactly when we'd arrive and what to serve. No awkward waiting.

The variety was appreciated. From artisanal cheese made by decades-old local producers to wines from multi-generational family vineyards to hand-crafted olive oils with vibrant flavors (a surprise fave stop for our party), every place complemented the last with no repetition. Even our Mexican lunch stop accommodated standard and vegetarian diets without compromising taste.

The knowledge was local. As someone who lives nearby I was surprised by how much history I didn't already know. My visiting foodie friends were equally impressed.

Small touches made big differences. Our guide Abby took photos at each stop and sent them afterward. Communication before, during, and after the tour was seamless. We each received hand-printed maps with space for notes. Each element felt like part of a thoughtfully designed experience.

The tour dials up relationships, not transactions. Every business owner greeted Abby like a good friend, and this warmth was extended to us as guests.

To wrap it up: Abby and the Sonoma Food Tour provided access to Sonoma's food culture that we wouldn't have scored on our own. The admission fee was our ticket to temporary insider status.

We had a wonderful tour of downtown Sonoma with our guide, Caroline. We visited the Sonoma Mission, Vella Cheese Shop, La Casa for a wonderful lunch and Margarita, Figones for an Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar tasting, we tasted ice cream , sampled chocolate truffles and had amazing wine at Highway 12 Winery with Mike. What a wonderful day, thank you, Caroline!

Caroline BROWN did an amazing job showing us around old town Sonoma on a chilly, rainy day. She educated us, shared Sonoma's history and introduced us to local food and wine surveyors we would never have found on our own. And she kept us as warm and dry as possible by timing breaks perfectly!
