I recently stayed at the Sonesta ES Suite in Charleston, West Virginia, and overall, it was a great experience. The customer service was fantastic—check-in was smooth and quick, and the staff member who assisted me was incredibly helpful in finding my room.

The room itself was spacious, clean, comfortable, and quiet, offering plenty of privacy. However, I did have a couple of concerns. I found hair from previous guests in the shower stall, which was unpleasant. Additionally, all the available cups in the room were visibly dirty, which was disappointing and a bit gross.

Despite those issues, the stay was otherwise enjoyable, and the excellent service stood out. With a little more attention to cleanliness, it would have been perfect.

The Sonesta ES Suites in Charleston provided everything that I needed for one night and then some. Although it is a rebranded Residence Inn property, it wears the Sonesta name badge quite well. The second I walked into the building, I immediately felt welcomed by the modern atmosphere and amazing front desk receptionists. Even though the property is older, it is still in great shape and very aesthetically pleasing. I stayed in a one bedroom suite which comfortably accommodated me and two friends - it was very modern, comfortable, warm and welcoming and truly felt like a little luxury apartment. Even though we did not make much use of the kitchenette, it was still a wonderful touch between the granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. I would easily recommend staying here if you are looking for a suite with a kitchen! It is fairly remote (located on a hilltop) yet not too far from downtown. Overall, it was an extremely pleasant stay for a very good price!

I was looking for overnight lodging close to the Charleston, WV airport, given winter weather that was moving into the area the night before I was to fly back to my home state. This Sonesta is located approximately 2 miles from the airport, the closest lodging I could find. Charleston, WV is a mountain city, and this lodging is located at the top of a mountain, but good roads which were cleared from the winter weather upon my departure. Friendly greeting upon arrival, the gas fireplace created nice ambiance. This is more of a long-term stay place -- my room had a living room, small kitchenette (stocked nicely with household items), sleeping area and bathroom. The rooms were spotless and nicely decorated. I was actually quite impressed with the Junior Suite when I saw it. Local and chain restaurants will deliver to this location for dinner as there is no restaurant. However, their breakfast bar is wonderful. Had to extend my stay one night due to weather, and the breakfasts both mornings were a little different, hearty and actually quite good. Standard breakfast fare - eggs, meat protein, cereal, toast, fruit, juice, yogurt, biscuits, coffee, tea, etc. A nice touch -- that was greatly appreciated since I had a rental vehicle -- when I went to leave, they had a supply of snow brushes and scrapers available for the guests' use so they could clean off their cars. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The check in staff were very friendly. The other staff that we encountered in the hall greeted us and was hospitable and friendly. The room was very nice and clean. The location was perfect for where we were visiting. I would highly recommend. We slept in so we didn't have the breakfast.

Dirty linens. I had an early flight and this hotel is close to the airport so I booked it for that reason. Room appeared clean on arrival, however when I pulled the bed sheets down the bed was filled with hair. The only employee working did deliver clean sheets for my room for me to change them out myself and took 25% off my bill so I did bump the review to 2 stars. But nothing will ruin a good nights sleep as quickly as a dirty bed.

Not what I expected for $180/a night on a Tuesday (which was their lowest rate). Hotel needs a refresh. Stained carpets, ripped upholstery, and a terrible breakfast that ends at 8:30am! Way too early, very limited options and the coffee tastes like Folgers. The room was ok, bed was hard and the bathroom was dirty. I would expect to pay under $100 a night for this experience. You can definitely find better options.

Our stay was very disappointing due to cleanliness issues throughout the room. The ice maker tray had brown residue, cabinet doors were grimy, and the stovetop wasn’t clean. There was even white residue on the door knob and a dirty sock left behind from a previous guest. There was debris on the carpet and the air vent return was filthy. The shower curtain had pubic hair on it, which was particularly unsettling. Overall, it was one of the dirtiest places we’ve stayed, and it’s clear that housekeeping needs more thorough quality checks. Unfortunately, we’re unlikely to return.

Stayed for only one night, I could not do another.. the sheets were gross and had hair on them. Carpet was stained. Loud fan kept going on no option to turn off kept waking us up. We slept horrible.
Never again.
