We survived! Saw the wild and crazy reviews after booking, but by then it was too late.

We actually had a great experience. As others have noted, the check-in process is a bit strange. Other than that, the room was clean, kitchen very well equipped for cooking, and the location was fantastic. We walked to campus, downtown Tempe, the metro, and groceries were in the same building.

We'd stay here again.

This is our second Sonder visit. This location in Tempe AZ is MUCH inferior to our first stay in a Sonder in Montreal. The hallways reeked of cannabis and were very dirty. There was late night noise, and low shower water pressure. Having a Sonder in an apartment complex inhabited mostly by Arizona State University students is less than ideal. Late night noise, screaming and yelling bothered us frequently. We will have to evaluate whether we patronize another Sonder in the future. We will certainly read the reviews thoroughly and, in our review, will not recommend this location. The room was fine and the location is excellent. Unlike in Montreal, we had no on-site reps to help with service. Anything we needed, we had to contact them through chat. Parking was expensive. Do not recommend.

Tempe location was perfect. The 1 bedroom was nice and clean. Kitchen had the necessary things to cook and dinnerware for meals. The window coverings were screen shades. At night for privacy, you need to have the lamp turned on next to the shade so your not visible to the outside. I really enjoyed my stay there as a single renter. Nice that it was located above the Whole Foods store.

Great space, convenient to many attractions and food/bars, near Town Lake for walking. This is not your standard hotel, but if you are comfortable with self-direction, this is a fantastic place to stay.

Check-in instruction was very detailed and complete. Customer service responds quick. Carpet needs deep cleansing. Housekeeping forgot to put hand soap. Ceiling was completely unfurnished. Room 6044

We stayed here memorial day weekend, the room was extremely clean, the pool was nice, and the atmosphere was peaceful. It's a one room apartment with a bathroom, kitchen, and living room, which includes amenities like a coffee machine, toaster, refrigerator, plates, utensils, within other useful items. They don't have cable but they do have wifi and the TV rooms gave Chromecast so you can easily connect your device to a streaming service. The air conditioner was cold which was great, they didn't have hot water the first 2 days but that didn't bother me as I shower with cold water and when the hot water came back it wasn't actually hot maybe just slightly warm; that was my only partner's complaint as he showers with boiling water. I decided to extend our stay here, through another reservation (we someone got the same room through a different account and a different user, that was lucky), we did have to leave and come back, we also got the same room; when we got the room back it was clean, the cleaning people were actually still cleaning when we arrived but everything was spotless and changed including the bedding, shower curtains towels, etc. Another downfall is having to pay 15 dollars for parking per day, we also had to leave the apartments at 11 am and we couldn't go back until 4 pm because they had to clean, so I paid an extra 40 dollar fee to have the room by 1 PM because we didn't want to wait that long for our with nothing to do. Overall, it's convenient because you feel like you're at home with all the amenities inside the room, as well as with walking distance from a few stores and having the whole foods in the same building, including a few eateries and coffee shops close by and a movie theater.

SO DISAPPOINTED. Terrible experience. My fully paid reservation was canceled without any reason, and the hotel held my payment for 7-10 days. Horrible customer service. Be careful when reserving here; they don’t explain why they don’t accept your reservation. I just received an email saying, “Your booking was flagged and was reviewed extensively. We only accept reservations we’re confident won’t violate our house rules.” How does that sound? 🙂

Terrible experience with this place. Booked a unit through VRBO, but my plans changed, so I cancelled (2 months before the cancellation deadline), but Sonder refused to refund my money through VRBO. I had to download Sonder's app, enter personal information, create an account, just to cancel. Terrible experience. Potentially a data mining scam. Stay away!
