It's been a while since I had some good Puerto 🇵🇷 food. This place was on point. Not was too salty everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The ribs were very tender the salad was well dressed and the pinto beans had just the right amount of flavor. The bean soup was spectacular and the next day it was even better. Glad to have found this gem. Next time I'm in SF I'll be back.

I've been to Sol Food multiple times, and I could never fully decide between a 4 or 5 star review. Well, during my last dine-in visit, I finally settled on 4 stars.
I usually order COSTILLAS DE CERDO - rotisserie pork ribs. The first time I had them, they were perfect, but every time after that, they were dry, which wasn't very pleasant. I also tried a sandwich (I don't remember which one), and it was great! Their Pique Sauce is amazing! I put it on everything: rice, salad, ribs.
The portions are very big, which I love. I always get full before finishing my food.
The staff is friendly, and the restaurant has plenty of seating, both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor seating is especially nice on hot days.
Maybe from now on, I'll stick with sandwiches, since ordering the pork ribs feels a little too risky.

Cool place, very friendly & attentive staff, and a lot of menu options. Went with the "Niño Pobre" (plantain-fried prawns, iceberg lettuce, pickles, and cilantro-lime mayo on toasted french bread.) The first few bites were ok, but when you add their house hot sauce this sandwich is FANTASTIC. Everything really started to work - absolutely will order this again.

Also went with the "Pollo al Horno" (chicken thighs marinated with oregano & garlic along with rice, black beans, salad & fried plantain.) Great seasoning on everything, tasty black beans, will order this again.

Sol Food, the beloved eatery with thriving locations in Mill Valley and San Rafael, has recently opened its doors in Petaluma. As a longtime fan of their San Rafael spot, I couldn't contain my excitement when I heard about the new addition. And let me tell you; it did not disappoint!

Before I even discovered Yelp, a friend raved about Sol Food in San Rafael, urging me to give it a try. From the moment I tasted their Sunday Special, I was hooked! Every visit to the North Bay meant a mandatory stop at Sol Food for a mouthwatering meal. I've brought countless friends along over the years, and without fail, each one has fallen head over heels for the place. The pandemic might have thrown us off our routine for a bit, but guess what? We're back, baby!

Just a few weeks ago, curiosity got the better of us as we strolled along the waterfront. We had seen signs of the new Sol Food location earlier, and it was time to investigate. Lo and behold, it was open for business! And guess what? It was lunchtime! Talk about perfect timing. Though I'm currently on a quest to shed a few pounds (aren't we all?), I couldn't resist the temptation and settled for half a Cubano. Let me tell you, that half was pure bliss! It brought back all the delicious memories in a single bite.

Sol Food's commitment to using fresh, top-notch ingredients shines through in every dish. No matter your palate preferences, you're practically guaranteed to find something that will make your taste buds dance with joy. And here's a pro tip: Don't leave without trying their plantains! Seriously, they're out of this world!

The restaurant is open and spacious. Food was really good. We sat outside at first but there was a wasp and the staff was cool about us changing seats.

This was something new for our family of five. Our kids can be picky, yet everyone ENJOYED their meals! Not Always easy with a 1.5, 4, and 6 year old. I personally LOVED my coconut soup with added shrimp. I tried my husbands ribs and they were so tasty. The rice was cooked to perfection. Our 4yo asked for chicken soup again the next day. Bravo!

Gorgeous open layout restaurant. You need to order& pay first, sit at a table and the food is brought to you. Delicious food. I had the pollo de horno and my friend ordered the same meal but with ribs. My drink was delicious. it was orange juice mixed with lime and lemonade I think. Quick service. Lots of indoor/outdoor seating.

This place was hopping on a Saturday night yet the staff was friendly and happy to explain different menu options as this was our first time visiting. We ordered the chicken thigh plate and sliced steak plate. All was very tasty however the beef was a bit on the chewy side. Next time would pick a different beef option. Plantains and chicken were super yummy. Everything we had was gluten free.
