I can’t even count how many times we have drove past this restaurant and said “we have to try that some day.” Today was the day and boy, I regret not trying it sooner. The burgers are amazing. They are huge! I had the Smokestack fire burger with frings (half fries, half onion rings) and it did not disappoint! The ratio was absolutely perfect. The bun was fresh and shiny, it looked like something out of a magazine.
The staff was great as well! It was the perfect amount of interaction. Not over bearing; but making sure you’re taken care of.
We can’t wait to go back! Also, try the Carmel milkshake! So good.

Full disclosure: I love diners. But even for a diner, which I inherently enjoy, Smokestack Diner is good. Got the burger and fries and a milkshake. The burger was thick and tasted like a hand-formed patty, the bacon was also thick and clearly cooked to order, and my unique topping configuration was accurate.

I really enjoy when a diner has a cozy atmosphere with booth seats, and this location nailed both. Paired with cool photos of this historic building and classic rock playing in the background it couldn’t have been more perfect for me.

Service was fast, and friendly. Will be back, and soon.

This diner is a hidden gem in Everson! The food was absolutely delicious. I have ate here for breakfast and dinner! The omelets are bomb! For dinner I had a crispy chicken ranch wrap and the fries are the best in town! My friend had a BLT with clam chowder and she loved it! The servers, Austin (breakfast) and Jessie (dinner) were incredibly friendly! The owner, Josh, made his rounds throughout the diner talking to his customers and showed great hospitality 🙂 The atmosphere was cozy and nostalgic, just what you'd expect from a classic diner, not to mention the wonderful history of this building. Ask Josh about it sometime! I highly recommend Smokestack Diner! Oh and the raspberry whipped pie was to die for...... Thank you Jess!

On the outside it looks rough - ignore that. On the inside it’s been well worn - look deeper.

Come for the breakfast - stay for the pie.
The food and the service here is top rate. And you will find photos and memorabilia from a bygone era of trains and rolling pins and Americana.

The hash brown sandwich caught my eye right away - unique, crunchy, cheesy.
And the pie is homemade spectacular, satisfying, perfect. They had 8 kinds the day we visited. So many pies!

Good food if the wait staff notices you. Otherwise you'll be waiting a very long time.

EDIT for business response:

To clarify, this review was based on several visits, not just one. We have dined here many times and the food is very good. The only issue is getting noticed sometimes. Our last visit, we waited for almost 20 minutes (in a less than half-full dining room) for menus, trying to be patient. Then when another group walked in, they were attended to almost immediately and the server didn't even look for anyone else who might need service. Overall it was very disappointing (again) and we now dine at 544.

Outstanding!! This was well worth taking the border crossing through Sumas. We usually enter Washington State at the Peace Arch but decided to take our time and explore a little.
Everything from the food through to the atmosphere, and especially the cordial staff, made our lunch stop a fantastic one.
Look for the towering smokestack, and you'll find this gem.
