If you enjoy being off the beaten path and are ok with driving 1 1/2 hours ONE way to go about 21 miles, this is the place for you! I’m from TN and was raised in the hollers. I’m used to hills and curves, but the road to this resort about did me in. No guardrails, very narrow, hairpin curves, and a temporary bridge. Potholes galore. My daughter got carsick. We had booked 2 nights not realizing how long of a drive it was. When I asked about modifying our stay, I was told management would likely say no and the person I needed to talk to was out of the office for 2 days. So, we sucked it up and stayed. No AC and it was quite warm in the summer. We stayed in Evelyn Lake Studio. It was unfortunate it took 3 hours a day out of our 2 days there to hike and sight see.

Spent three nights here on a California Roadtrip holiday. Incredible place, properly off the beaten track. Amazing access to trails 15mins further up the road where the scenery and solitude are incredible.||Staff were lovely and really helpful, room was lovely too - we stayed in Eagle Lake which was more hotel room than a self-catered cabin. Bed was genuinely the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in.||Food was amazing, better burgers than I’ve had in most places, good size, decent IPA beers available too.||Access road is a bit of a jaunt, but if you are from the UK, you’ll know narrow Devon and Cornwall lanes as well as Lake District mountain passes - they are worse if not quite 21 miles.||Ignore any photos of the scenery; photos do not do the place justice, it’s incredible.||Could have stayed a week, thank you, cannot recommend highly enough if you want to get away from it all.

Silver City is so pretty and so fun! We stayed in the lovely Florence Peak cabin, which fit five adults perfectly. We enjoyed dining in the lodge, especially enjoying the incredible pie. There are beautiful hikes of all levels of challenge in the area. It was an excellent place from which to see the Giant Sequoias with solitude and beauty.

Loved the food, but was disappointed with the room. STAY AWAY from the studio rooms! The room we booked was the Evelyn Lake and it’s honestly furnished really nice but it’s located right above the kitchen. The kitchen closes at 7:30pm but they were up cleaning till past 11 pm. The windows to the room are also facing the main public area which is also very loud. For what we payed, they should have been more honest about the studio room(s) location. We get up early to start our day off and not getting a good nights sleep the night prior really sucks. Overall, this was a beautiful location but maybe the cabins would have been a better experience.

Our three day stay at Silver City Mountain Resort was a joy. Our cabin, Shining Star, was clean, comfortable and convenient. The lunches and dinners in the restaurant were delicious. The cabin was well-equipped enough for us to eat a dinner and a few breakfasts in the cabin. This was a great, relaxing three days in the high sierra.

If you are looking for a true nature experience without the throngs of national park visitors at the main entrance this is an absolute hidden gem in Sequoia. Be advised the drive up to the resort is not for the weak there are many points along the road where one false move can send you over a cliff BUT totally worth it once you arrive. Suggest a 4WD or a stay in Three Rivers. It is truly a fully immersive nature adventure at this resort. Chalets will be your best bet for comfort or for a more rugged experience try the primitive cabins.
We went primitive. No internet, no TV, you, your friends/family and nature. Wonderful staff, food pretty good (must try the pies!), trails at Mineral King are breathtaking. Can't wait to return.

Let me just start by saying that this area is beautiful, however, I feel that Silver City needs to be a little more transparent about the ride up the mountain. It is a 21mile ride that takes about 1 1/2 hours to complete. If you don't mind being on the edge of the cliffs going up to 7000ft on a narrow road, this ride is for you and the views are spectacular. If you don't enjoy that kind of ride, it will be terrifying. If you have any medical conditions, you might want to think about how long it will take you to get medical help in an emergency. Also, be prepared before you make the trek up the mountain if you plan on staying up there (supplies, etc.). They do have a restaurant and a little store with reasonable prices; however, the service is very laid back and slow (but very nice). If you plan on visiting The General Sherman or The General Grant, be prepared to take about 3 hours of your day just to drive up and down the mountain from the main road. |If you were looking to visit different places, Visalia would probably be more centralized. The cabins were very cute and updated beautifully, and they did provide wood for fires. They did not provide any key to our cabin, so we had to leave it unlocked when we were gone, the sheets did not fit the mattress so any time we turned, they would snap up, and all the chairs to sit around the fire were falling apart. I hate to complain, but at 460 per night, I expect a little more. Had I known about the ride up there I probably would not have booked.

Just a driveby on the way to Mineral King while out for a drive. The area is absolutely gorgeous, but the road is narrow and windy. It's the longest 25 miles you'll ever drive. You have to be careful because most of the time, there's just enough room for one vehicle.
