Stayed here twice so far and have used yes the popular Sunrise Suite and this time around the Wilderness suite. Suits my needs both rooms! Has all I needed to feel comfortable! I love vintage buildings so I can appreciate this old gem. If you can’t put up with an old building and old building stuff maybe consider elsewhere? LOCATION is excellent! Perfect for where our meeting was!

You do have to practice being very quiet as all is heard downstairs at a business and rooms downstairs. So FYI walk and don’t be overly loud in the hallways and all is good.

First time in last night for the evening. Very cute rooms and the best bed evAH! So soft and cozy. Walking distance to everything in town. Guessing it might be loud in the summer, but the winter was perfect! I loved that old, claw foot tub too!

My family and I are here visiting from Fairbanks and had the most rude and disgusting experience with the property manager around 8:30 pm 10/25/2024 as we were leaving the lodge. My mother rented the room and was never called or messaged or emailed by anyone and we were not “slamming doors” or being unreasonably noisy especially given that there is no “quiet time” listed. She burtsed out of her room - barely presentable - to yell at us while we were trying to get a group photo. She proceeded to point and yell at me directly saying she messaged me and that I told her she had the wrong number. I didn’t book this room so they have zero contact information to me. We are extremely uncomfortable to even go back there but unfortunately we have to at least for tonight. Hopefully we will get a refund for tomorrow night. I would NEVER recommend anyone stay here unless you are a hermit or a mute. We are extremely disappointed with how she chose to handle that situation instead of speaking to us like customers. Again we were never given a warning or even the courtesy of a knock on our door to inform us that anyone was bothered or that anyone had complained. Cute rooms and good location though.

Double charged us before arrival. Had to call our cc company to report that second charge was not authorized
Upon arrival, it took a minute to find the “black door” entry. It was beat up n dirty. And awkward like trying to open someone’s private apartment. Hurt my hand opening the door because the door handle is at an angle that bangs your hand into the keypad. Had to walk up a steep flight of stairs that we almost fell down several times during stay. Inside this stairwell lighting is low, dirty, wallpaper is peeling, and it smells. Suite door had a note that the door knob sticks and instructions on how to open which requires you to have 2 hands forcing you to sit your belongings on the dirty floor. FYI makes a loud noise upon opening it.
The walls and doors are PAPER thin with very large gaps. We can see a two inch gap underneath the entry to our suite. It is NOT a good choice for young kids or couples looking for some “adult” time. Everyone can hear you.
One tv remote didn’t have batteries. No cable.
The “kids bed” is inside of a closet NOT a converted closet. It’s literally a closet someone stuffed a bed inside of. And the bed is broken. Toys are available, but just random junk that didn’t go with the play kitchen which left my kids bored. So it was miserable trying to keep our kids quiet all night.
Old vintage radiators are hot and exposed. Zero safety or childproofing. We spent all night trying to keep our kids from touching all 4 of them.
Missing fire alarms in 2 spots and areas that aren’t up to fire safety code.
In the bedroom, One of the lamp shades is all busted up inside of it and the lamp doesn’t turn on. Could not use the fan and it was SO hot in there. Bed frame shifts so it is NOT structurally sound. The mattress is cheap, old, and miserable so every time we rolled over the bed shook like we were in an earthquake. The pillows are flat. Woke up with our necks hurting. And NONE of the doors to the bedroom lock or close properly. All night they kept opening and banging into the wall waking us up so we’d have to get up and close them again.
No fan in the bathroom and mildewed tape on the window. Super thin toilet paper. No curtains or shade on the window, disgusting mat inside the tub, and filth at the bottom of the toilet. And door lock is horrible. We had to tell our kids not to lock the door so they didn’t get stuck inside.
Kitchen felt dirty. We kept finding dirty dishes. The outside of the fridge has something nasty all over it and makes a LOUD sound when it comes on. ZERO ice maker even though it’s supposed to have one. The oven/stove gross. Floor sticky. There are two doors in the kitchen. One is locked shut but super gross at the bottom of it. The other door opened out into the hallway and had absolutely no weather stripping. zero privacy.
We noticed under the radiators the floor is filthy, we saw trash, and underneath one was literally d-con RAT POISON. Not only is that dangerous for kids, it shows they have a clear issue with rodent control and are being cheap about it rather than paying a professional.
Our night was filled with having to listen to every person outside our door, every footstep inside our suite, the fridge, the doors that wouldn’t stay shut, the doors you have to give a shove to to open, everything echoing, the creaking bed, our neighboring guests kept knocking on OUR door blaming us for noises we literally couldn’t help. THAT made me angry.
FYI despite advertising this is NOT a Bed & Breakfast, the kitchen was NOT fully equipment, the appliances are NOT up to date or even relatively new, NO sample oil packets, NO new toiletries, there was no claw foot tub, NO free gym access, and there were no nice views from any of the windows just closed up tops of buildings cause the windows were iced over. Also, the photos of the room are SUPER staged, deceiving, and were taken with an angled realtor type camera to make the room look bigger than it is

We were so happy checking in and exploring this nostalgic, vintage styled building - but our smiles turned to shock and disgust when we were confronted by the property manager at 8:45 pm, as we gathered to take a selfie before heading down 4th Ave to see the sites. This woman rudely accused my daughter of ignoring her messages, which was so strange since how would she know her name or her phone number? Instead of having the memorable family night out we expected we spend the time wondering what we did to warrant this confrontation. The property manager said we were being too loud and slamming doors - which we had just carried our luggage and groceries to our room before dressing for the night out. And, even if we were talking too loud for her liking, this occurred well before the posted quiet times. (10pm) We considered leaving for the night as to not be on pins and needles for the the 2nd night of our stay. I would love to rebook for another time in Seward, as I am frequently there… but what a strange feeling, feeling as though you are bothering someone you are paying for a service, especially while on vacation, and on a Friday night! I hope the owners see these reviews and take corrective action. This person needs training in the hospitality industry and what it means to be a host.

There is no view from these rooms. We looked at an alley with cars and rooftops so our curtains were closed the entire time. You could not open the windows as there were no screens, we'll one but it had a hole in it. Do not book this room if you are elderly. Getting up the stairs is a chore, parking is a pain and we'll stepping into a tall clawfoot tub to shower isn't easy for most people over 60. There could be SOME shelves in the bathroom, there is literally nowhere for your stuff. We had to get breakfast at the grocery store as the restaurant wasn't open when we were there. Kitchen is cute. Once I got the ceiling fan going I slept better. It got hot and stuffy. It was clean and bed was comfy.

I really wanted to give this place a good rating because the units are cute enough and the location is great, but the treatment we received was abhorrent. The manager or owner was extremely rude to us every time we spoke with her. The pull out bed is barely functional and the unit had men walking around on the roof directly out the windows making noise early in the morning.

I would not give even one star to this place. I shouldn't be saying this but it's quite a dirty place. People who manage this place just want to milk it until it ruins out. As soon as you enter the walkway, the long carpet is dirty and smelly. You have that musty smell all over the place including the rooms. The rooms are supposed to have essential oil samples and oil diffuser. We couldn't find them. The room was very smelly. You could hear the people from your neighboring room walking. The beds are the worst and squeaky, they will give you a backache the next morning. These people still think it is 1920s the way they have kept the place and operate it. Hated that we paid $209 for a night. Avoid at all costs. I am not sure how people have given good reviewes about this place in here. It is okay to have a dated appearance but it is not okay to collect such high room rate and provide such a bad experience.
