We loved our stay at the Rowland Hotel and would absolutely stay there if we were to visit Salem, VA again. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we appreciated the free snacks and breakfast items available in the lobby. Our room was clean and elegant, and the beds were very comfortable. The marble clad bathroom was gorgeous, and I regretted not having time to use the beautiful soaking tub. We stayed in the "Lanto Suite" which is a two-bedroom suite: a main bedroom with a king-sized bed, and a smaller room with a queen-sized bed. There were also two bathrooms, the large main bathroom and a smaller half-bath adjacent to the smaller bedroom. We were a couple traveling with a teenager, so this room layout was perfect for us! While it is probably a little more expensive than staying at a chain brand hotel, it was well worth the price given how luxurious and comfortable everything was.

Absolutely love this hotel. Great quiet location and walking distance to Roanoke College. Very comfortable spacious rooms, beds, towels and robes. Nicest staff that goes out of their way to be helpful. We always stay and dine here when visiting Salem and love to eat at Frankie Rowland's too...excellent food and service.

We take out- of-town trips about x4 a year. This one was close to us and so glad we made this choice.
Staff was amazingly and highly interactive, in a good way.
The rooms were spotless and very pleasant. A plumbing problem developed in our room.....we were immediately upgraded to a suite for the remainder of our stay.
The restaurant is very popular, which begs early reservations.
We were not quick enough, so ate in the bar area. Food was outstanding, but be prepared for the cheery noise level.
I gave a star less on "Location" due to the inconvenience of off-site parking.
We would certainly return.

We spent New Years eve, the accommodations were outstanding. We had been told it was a great place and certainly were not disappointed. Our room was very large, well appointed and extremely clean. The ability to have a very nice dinner experience and not leave the building was an appreciated benefit.

This hotel is a rare gem that I found using a Google search in a desperate attempt to find lodging after hurricane Helene hit the Asheville area. I could not have found a more perfect place to relax and unwind and get my thoughts together. You can walk out the front door and be on the beautiful park-like campus grounds of Roanoke College within one block, walk to numerous dining options and a farmers market, or just enjoy the relaxing, quiet room and delicious on site restaurant and bar. Especially good in-room, coffee set up, and all-day grab-&-go snacks including fresh fruit in the lobby.

Our stay was exceptional. We were in town for a wedding. Location was great. We were able to walk to restaurants/coffee shops. Frankie’s was a great place for a nice dinner and cocktail.

Amazing! I was able to provide a room to my brother and sister-in-law while attending my daughters wedding. They were very pleased with their room. My daughter and son-in-law stayed their wedding night. They were greeted with swan towels, rose petals and a bouquet of flowers. I thought I had booked a tub in their room (she loves her bubble baths). They still loved their room. My suite was very appreciated after the wedding. Very luxurious bedding, excellent shower and peace and quiet. Enjoyed coffee in the lobby and talking with the staff. Highly recommend anytime. Thank you for a wonderful ending to my daughters wedding day.

Wonderful welcome at the front desk. Nice environment and inviting. Beautiful room, clean and updated. Lots of available drinks. Beautiful balcony! We ate at the restaurant located on the bottom floor attached and had a WONDERFUL meal. Our waitress was Tracy and she was so sweet and knowledgeable! It was delicious!
