Riverview Motel - Alderson, West Virginia

Went down here two years ago before picking up a working dog from a local farmer. Rooms were super clean, also the late check in was very nice and I appreciated them going above and beyond to make sure I was able to get a room. Would recommend!

I did not have a chance to meet any staff in person as I was on a road trip passing through kind of late, needing a shower and good nights rest. The lady on the phone was very nice and made accommodations quickly. Room was ready to go when I arrived and did not have to waist anytime at check in. After departing they called to follow up on my stay. I would recommend or stay again.

Our stay at the Riverview Motel was an unexpected adventure. Our car broke down on our way to the state fair and we had to wait until the next day for parts for the repair (huge thanks to George at D&G Auto Repairs for helping us in an emergency). Being stranded almost two hours from home, and despairing over the hotel prices in Lewisburg, the tow truck driver (Jimmy is a wonderful man!) gave us the number for the Riverview Motel. Thankfully, they had a room available for an amazing price. After securing our room for the night, Jimmy was kind enough to drive our family the 5ish miles back into Alderson to the motel. By this point, we had resigned ourselves to missing the fair and just being grateful for having a place to sleep for the night.

Terri, the owner, was an absolute angel for us, and we will never forget the kindness and generosity she showed us while we were there. She let us check in early after we showed up with just the clothes on our backs, and even offered to give us a ride out to the fairgrounds so our kids wouldn't miss it. Normally, my pride wouldn't have let me accept that offer, but after the day we'd had up to then, I just started crying and said thank you. She gave us an amazing gift with such a simple gesture of kindness.

Once we got back from the fair (seriously, Terri was an absolute godsend for that) we were able to get hot showers in a clean room and pass out next to an ice cold air conditioner. I was in heaven. The next morning, the kids and I had breakfast at the café and, holy moly, that food was amazing! Just a mountain of straightforward, home cooked perfection. The tea was sweet, the biscuits were fresh from the oven, the bacon was perfectly crispy. It was everything you could possibly want in a country breakfast.

After breakfast, because she's a guardian angel, she gave us another ride out to the mechanic to retrieve our fully repaired vehicle. We got to wander around Alderson a bit, spend some time at the river with the kids, and then had lunch back in the café before heading home because the food was honestly just that good, and I already knew from breakfast that I was going to have about 3 days worth of leftovers because they portion those plates like they mean it! You are not going hungry if Terri is feeding you.

All in all, we ended up having the best worst day ever. When we first broke down just outside of town, we fully expected nothing good to come from the rest of that trip. Instead, we were welcomed in like family, made it to the fair, got a good night's sleep, ate all the comfort food, and made a wonderful friend that I sincerely hope to see again. I can say for sure, that we will absolutely be going back to the Riverview every time we happen to be in Alderson again.

Found this diamond in the rough after getting disgusted by the over-priced options in Lewisburg WV. Located 14.3 miles from Lewisburg, Alderson is a quaint, quiet little town on the Greenbrier River. While admittedly not fancy, the Riverview Motel is a solid, clean, friendly, affordable place to stay. A small restaurant on site. Gas station/quickie mart next door with beer/wine. Nice patio furniture for hanging out, socializing, and watching the river.
Super nice, helpful people run this place. Everybody was kind to us, which was refreshing.
We stayed here, met up with friends, and saw a concert at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg.

Nice little place. Had reservation closer to Blacksburg, VA but they had overbooked x 5. This place was available and a bit of a drive but nice view of the river and cute little town. Stayed on 9/30/23.

There was no phone in the room the TV didn't work no clock and then I had to get a man from one of the rooms to come and help me turn my heat on because the office was closed and you could not call them. That was a very bad experience but what do you expect I guess for $60 a night. I hope they upgrade their rooms so at least you will have the heat turned on and a phone and the TV works. But the people that own the place are very pleasant

Clean rooms for a great price. Some of the the most friendly service. Nice view and in a convenient area. Will definitely be back.
