Our stay started out bad. We were told to look for a shuttle when we got off the train and call if one was not there. Since it was not there, we called the hotel and was told the driver had fallen asleep but was on his way and should be there in five minutes. After 20 minutes we called again. We were then told that he was already there and left. He was not driving the River's Edge van because it was broken down and instead was driving a van from the Bridgewater. Not knowing this, we did not look for him so he left. At this point there were 8 people waiting for that shuttle. We were told he would be returning in 20 minutes. So, 40 minutes after our arrival and with the train station pretty much closed up, we all waited. He finally arrived with a very weak apology. Everyone was upset as it was after 9:00 PM and we were tired and ready to get to the hotel. It was a quiet ride.|Once at the hotel, we were quicky checked it, but not a word was mentioned about the shuttle - not even a "sorry about that." We could not believe it when we opened the door to our "cottage." It was small, worn, and musty. It smelled like it had not been used for some time. When we turned the air conditioner on, it also smelled musty. The pedestal table was wobbly and useless. We barely had room for our luggage. The door had streaks of rusty water where it had obviously leaked. The shower had mold or mildew above it. The beds were somewhat comfy. Since we were not in our room much, we just put up with it. |The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was just okay. I am sure there are better places in Fairbanks to stay. Our travel agent booked this for us, but we will be sure to relay the condition we found it.

The name River's Edge is a joke unless you happen to get one of the half-dozen rooms that actually overlooks the river. Our room faces the highway. The patio touted in the marketing materials is the size of a postage stamp, and it's in front of a hedge (see photos). So there are no views at all. The rooms are pretty dinky. The breakfast costs $20/head. We are at least ten minutes out of the city. We were booked for a two-night stay, but two people came around to tell us that we were only booked for one night and we were supposed to check out this morning. We were able to fix that, but thank goodness we hadn't left yet for our hike or we might have come back to find our belongings out on the pavement. It's cheap - $189/night - but you get what you pay for.

Don't judge this book by its cover. The outside of the cabins look tired but the rooms were clean and professionally decorated. Friendly staff.. bathroom is small but not much can be done about that. Great view of the river. Transportation from railroad a plus

Front desk staff could not have been more unhelpful and unpleasant on the morning of our stay, 8/21.

Woman at front desk attitude (the person without a mask) could best be described as adversarial. Told my husband there was no path to take and view the river on the property at the hotel, which of course there was.

Despite 2 different employees saying we could get the hotel shuttle to drop us off in town, woman at front desk told us NO.
I called from my room to ask about a local taxi phone number and was told to come to the front desk for that information.

We returned for an overnight to Fairbanks and found much friendlier and accommodating staff and great amenities at Princess Resort for about $50 cheaper!!

Love to support what seems to be a local business, but the staff was such a turn off, I would not stay here again.

Pleasant surprise. Sweet little cabins on the river. Pictures on website show you exactly what you get. My room was comfortable and clean. With microwave and refrigerator. Parking is a little confusing but I figured it out 🤣. The check in and lobby are very nice and comfortable a nice little gift shop. The staff was exceptional.

Overall this is a nice place to stay. I loved that I could park right outside my door. I loved that we didn't share walls with anyone so it was quiet and peaceful. The rooms have Arcadia doors with screens to let in the cool breeze. The room also had a ceiling fan which kept us cool at night.

We stayed here for only one night passing through Fairbanks. Wish we had stayed longer. We had one of the cottages and it was very clean, spacious and comfortable. A nice walk to the Chena River and the surroundings. It was quiet and peaceful. We highly recommend.

This is a nice clean property. Good complimentary breakfast in main building/office and a good restaurant with at least a veggie burger for non meat eaters. Good solo live music the night we ate there. This was a bright spot for an otherwise disappointing string of accommodations the tour company booked for 7 day trip.
