We were able to book a last minute bear viewing tour to Big River Lakes with River Rock Lodge on 8/22 after our bear viewing with another popular company in the area had been canceled the previous day due to weather. Our guide Paul was wonderful and really wanted to make sure everyone in our group had a great experience! He provided a lot of great information and answered all our questions. We arrived early morning to the lake before any of the other boats had arrived and almost immediately spotted a bear in the water. We were able to watch bears fishing and swimming within a couple feet of our boat. We saw several cubs (so cute) and even witnessed two sows fighting. It was even better than expected and I'm so glad we took a chance and booked with River Rock!

Jeremy and the folks at River Rock Lodge really pulled through for us when our bear watching tour out of Homer got cancelled. As much as we wanted to experience Brooks Falls, Jeremy’s tour to Big River Lakes was significantly better. The float plane ride was only 25 minutes and he took us all around this very large and beautiful lake to see bears in a boat. He knew where many of them would be and since we were in a boat, he could get us really close to them. Such a great experience to be quietly sitting on a boat with bears onshore and swimming in the water to find fish with no other people around. We heard them breathe and growl. As a photographer, I got some great photos thanks to this tour! I would definitely recommend this bear viewing tour over the ones that go to Brooks Falls in Katmai.

My parents were visiting Alaska for the first time . A wildlife adventure was on their bucket list - we are so thankful to have found River Rock Lodge. We absolutely loved our fly-out bear viewing tour with River Rock Lodge in Soldotna and specifically with our guide, Jeremy. All the details are truly taken care of and Jeremy takes care of his guests. The small group environment was perfect and Jeremy personalizes the tour to your needs and tailors his tours to what his guests want. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the area. We saw 5-6 bear, a beautiful waterfall, and took the plane over top of a glacier. Jeremy truly cares about his equipment - we had one of the best looking and safest boats on the water. True Alaskan beauty and adventure is guaranteed on this tour. This is definitely worth the drive from Anchorage! Make a pit stop on your way to Homer - you won't regret it!

Jeremy is the real deal. So genuine and skilled at sharing the real Alaska. This was an experience we will never forget and highly recommend. The plane ride amazing. Beautiful boat and he was sure to take us to many cool places to see as much as we could. Well worth the money!

Such an awesome experience. The bears were breathtakingly beautiful. The pilot, Jeremy, was awesome and took great care of us during the trip. The beauty of the Katmai area was unforgettable. This will be one of my cherished memories of coming to Alaska.

We stayed at another place on the Kenai. Last day we were scheduled to fly out for bear viewing with Talon Air Service. The overcast was late to lift and our flight was cancelled. Thankfully Jeremy (owner/pilot) of a different resort was called and he took us at the last minute to salvage our trip. Not only did we get to enjoy the bears, he gave us a boat handler that allowed us to catch our limits of sockeye while enjoying the bears. My only regret is we didn't stay at his and his wife's place. His professionalism is fabulous only to be outdone by his friendliness. Thanks so much for making our trip fabulous. Jeremy's cabins and location are the most ideal for a tremendous fishing experience. Jeremy was a great host, guide and fish packaging pro. We look forward to our next visit and are very excited to hear that Jeremy is now doing bear viewing on his own plane.
