Hotel Review

We stayed at this hotel for two nights.

Pros:
• The room was spacious, featuring two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a shower.
• The kitchen was well-equipped with an oven, dishwasher, and a large refrigerator.
• The hotel offers a non-heated pool and a basketball court, with balls available for guests.
• The location was quiet and pleasant.
• The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating.

Cons:
• The breakfast was disappointing. About 30 minutes before the end of service, they stopped replenishing the food, so guests had to make do with whatever was left.
• The room had an overpowering scent of air freshener or cleaning product with a sweet undertone, which lingered throughout our stay.
• The thermostat in our room wasn’t working properly. Every time we turned on the heating, the room became uncomfortably hot. A technician was sent to fix the issue, but his only solution was to switch the air conditioner to cooling mode—in the middle of winter.

Despite these drawbacks, we had an overall positive experience.

Love this hotel and friendly staff. Very fair prices. I recommend it. There’s plenty of food in walking distance. I did not try the breakfast so can’t rate that.

Terrance at the front desk was super nice and helped me get the TV and the chair in the room fixed. The rooms are quiet and I’m grateful to be treated so well! The rooms are very clean, comfortable and updated. My room had a bathtub! ❤️

I stopped by here today because I was on the road traveling. I was greeted by a super friendly and beautiful woman with red hair. She was so sweet. Our encounter was brief so I didn’t catch her name.

Rooms are decent enough but it's really just a big fat shout-out to TJ at the front desk. She was an absolute pleasure. Super personable and helpful.

The management at this hotel is extremely disappointing and unprofessional. We booked a room here about 7 weeks prior to our trip along with a large group of my child’s team. The day before arrival I received a confirmation of our reservation and was given the option to check in early online. I proceeded to do so and all went smooth. We arrive to the hotel after our flight and long drive from the airport only to be told they over sold rooms and canceled our reservation without notifying me. They gave me a gift bag with old snacks and a soda as a gift with a confirmation # to another Marriott in the same city.

When I asked why my reservation was canceled and how they chose who got kicked out, they couldn’t give me an answer and stumbled with numerous reasons. The room we booked was a 1 bedroom suite with kitchen since it was a longer stay we wanted the kitchen to cook and save money. Instead we were sent elsewhere to pay the same exact rate for a tiny room with none of the same amenities, doubling our trip cost! They refused to credit part of the room rate and offered Marriott points which were never even given. The front staff refused to let me speak to the manager. The Marriott Fairfield they sent us to had a rate of $115 per night but charged us $144 since it was a Marriott transfer and refused to change it. Extremely disappointed with the service!

I stayed at this hotel for around 34 nights. On the whole I would say it is an average hotel.|The rooms were fairly sound proof so you didn't hear much in the way of your neighbours activity.|The location of this hotel was a bit away from the freeways so the sound level was also better in that regard although the side streets beside the hotel were like a race track for motorcycles and cars at night. |The hotel is dated with the carpets needing a good vacuuming and shampooing. The same in the rooms. The room I stayed in needed a fresh coat of paint on the ceiling, it was mottled with a patch job of painting here and there.|When housekeeping came to look after the rooms they did a good job however the rooms were not done daily and garbages needed to be put outside the door in the hallway. One week of the 5 I was there housekeeping missed my room and I went for 5 days with no housekeeping.|The lights were not on outside the building for the majority of my stay and having worked nights and coming back to the hotel in the dark once I got out of my car was a bit unsettling. I talked to the staff about this and the reply I got was that the lights were on a timer and they would have to get the maintenance person to fix it- which didn't happen.|The pictures on the internet are deceiving. There were no cushions on the chairs or couches outside which were uncomfortable to sit in without. Often the little courtyard was dirty with garbages piled high.|The pool had a layer of scum on the top which deterred me from going in it. The hotel would get car loads of kids and parents coming in for sports tournaments on the weekends and there was a lot of use of the pool likely contributing to the scum on the top. However I noticed that often the doors to the pool would be open and I sometimes wondered if other people were coming into the pool to use it that were not guests of this hotel (seeing some people leave or come with their bathing suits on and using the pool and then leaving). |There was no working air conditioning in the breakfast area or front lobby or hallways and in a year where there was record breaking heat it was very uncomfortable for guests and staff. Apparently the air conditioning was broken but this was not fixed during my stay there.|The breakfast area was clean and bright and the one younger staff person working in that area was very kind and friendly and always had a "good morning" greeting and a smile. The older person not so much and in fact a few times was a little short when asked for fruit or such that had run out. There was a decent variety but only once was there ever bread.|In most hotels I go to the front office staff are very friendly, greeting you when you went past them, in the mornings and such. I would have to say that almost never happened unless I first said good morning or such first to them.|They do have on-site laundry facilities for guests to use for pay, again the room was almost unbearable as no air conditioning. $2.00 for a wash load.|The internet said there was a complementary late afternoon get together with complementary wine and snacks. When I inquired about this the staff member said they hadn't done this for 2 years.|I did have a spider in my room crawling on my bed when I was in it and when I reported this to the staff they did have someone come to my room a day or two later and sprayed some stuff around the bathroom. For that I was apparently awarded some Marriot points!!|Lastly, when I booked the room, and I am from another country so I knew nothing about this hotel, the gal was very friendly and helpful. I received the rate by email, which corresponded to the rate she gave me. I didn't read the fine print on the second page that there would be a $12.00/daily rate to park you car there, nor was I told that when I booked the room. The gal that gave me the rate was there when I checked in and she told me about the daily rate for my car and apologized that she didn't tell me when booking the room , however she said it was in the email she sent me. When I got to my room, I checked and sure enough on the second page in small print it was there.|I feel this is a cash grab. I expect that in downtown Boston where there is no available space but not in Palmdale at a hotel where there is a large parking lot. Having said that, I was unable to park on the hotel property 3 nights because of the car loads of people with their kids staying at the hotel on weekend that filled the parking lot- not that I got a refund for those 3 days, even when I advised the manager of that situation.|I wonder if this hotel is in financial difficulty or they just don't care about the safety and comfort of their guests:|lights not on, carpets not clean, pool not clean, air conditioning not working, charging for parking, no complementary social evening, reduced housekeeping services, no cushions on the outside chairs.|I feel some of the staff need a tune-up on caring for guests who are away from family and in a non-familiar place to live until they return home. A smile and greeting go a long way. Pride in the work and in up-keeping the facility should be a priority for a hotel chain this large.|I am sorry to be writing a review with so many things that I found to be either unfair or difficult however if anyone from the hotel management reads this and can enact some change than that is good.
