Great spot to visit Manhattan Beach and the surrounding area. The 1 Bedroom plus Loft w/ its own bathroom was a great set-up for a family. There is an outdoor pool that is heated and perfect to come back to after the beach. Breakfast was very good and the staff was really attentive. We did walk down to Manhattan Beach one night, but it's a bit of a walk and I would probably recommend an uber. The street in front of the hotel is very busy, but once you're on property it's an oasis.

Residence Inns have always met our expectations, but this location didn’t. Dog urine smell (and yellow stains on the mattress and box spring), rust flakes in the dishwasher, stained bedding, lots of little bugs, and grime in the shower made it difficult to relax. A strong carpet shampoo smell faded after a few days, leaving behind an unpleasant mix of stale smoke and gross old motel smell. The bedside table and area behind the bed? Absolutely disgusting.

Staff were kind and offered a room change, but other rooms looked similarly troubled and we didn’t want to roll the dice again. Great location and layout and housekeeping did a good job, but the lack of upkeep overshadowed everything. I expected better, especially from the Residence Inn brand and for the price. My experience seems inconsistent with other reviews so I hope we just had a problem room or older building.

Got to Manhattan Beach a bit earlier than anticipated. After breakfast and a little light shopping decided to come by the hotel to try my luck on early check-in. Juliana was the person at the front desk. With a warm smile and a big happy thanksgiving welcome, not only was I able to check-in, she also helped me to apply for the hotel rewards program. Less than 10 minutes later, I had a new rewards program with lots of perks, 2 bottles of water, a diagram of the hotel and my key to the room. The room was very clean, very quiet corner and the bed and water pressure were the highlight of my stay. Thanks again Juliana and the cleaning crew for making stressful holidays travel, a perfect time ..

Platinum Elite member: I had to cancel my reservation upon check in due to the unbearable carpet small. This hotel needs renovation if you are a person with allergies or can’t stand carpet smell I wouldn’t recommend it! Don’t let the location get in the way of a great place to stay.

A great hotel and unique in that it had an upper loft for the second bed (2bd/2ba)! So good quasi privacy if travelling with other adults, or teens in my case. The breakfast is really good as well. Just know that if you're staying here, the main lobby/gym/breakfast spaces are in a different building than the rooms. Makes it feel more like a condominium and I really enjoyed the feeling of privacy.

Born and raised in MB but this was my first time staying here. Rooms are tired and not kept up with.
-sink had not been cleaned after previous guests and there were a bunch of hairs in it when we arrived
-fridge also hadn’t been wiped down and was all smudged with greasy fingerprints
-dog damage everywhere. What is the purpose of charging owners a pet fee if you aren’t going to fix damages? Looked like previous guests locked their dog in the bathroom as there were nail scratches all over the inside of the door
-sofa in room was peeling vinyl
-parking was $25/day. Tip: park at Target and walk over. Ripoff
-there was graffiti in the bathroom on the wall
-internet was out the duration of our stay
Stay elsewhere. Recommend Shade downtown.

I have been a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member for over a decade - this property fell far short of my expectations for a Marriott property. |*When we checked in, we were told very clearly that the hotel and all of Manhattan Beach were non-smoking. Our room smelled like smoke when entering and we found cigarette butts on the ground outside of our room on multiple occasions.|*The bathroom light fixture behind the mirror did not work. My wife was told that a part was needed and that it would be fixed by Friday. She checked with the front desk on Thursday and Friday and was told that a manager would contact us. We received no such call and the light was not repaired.|*The sliding door to the bathroom is missing hardware - it looks like installation of a new door was not completed|*The sofa in the room is clearly worn and needs to be replaced|*We were awakened at 4:30am every morning by loud footsteps from the room above ours. It sounded as though they were running back an forth. I do not know if these were the same guests or different guests - soundproofing is quite poor.|BUT, the staff at the breakfast were exceptionally friendly and represent the single positive comment I can share about our stay.

Place is ok, I rented a villa for 5 but preferably is for only 4, foldable bed is *terrible* , smells like your grandpas house. |No WiFi in the rooms!!! And management didn’t show any interest on fixing it, but the offer it on lobby only, +300 ft away from my room.
