I had a bad experience at the Residence Inn La Mirada at Buena Park on February 2, 2025, and I want to warn others about how unprofessional and disorganized this hotel is.||I had booked a stay the day before that I could check in early at 12:30 PM because I needed to pick up some disabled family members from the airport. The hotel assured me it wouldn’t be a problem.||When I arrived around 12:50-1:00 PM, the front desk person told me the hotel’s system was down and that they couldn’t check me in. I get that technical issues happen, but when I asked what I could do or if there was any solution, she just kept repeating that there was nothing she could do. No apology, no offer to help—just “come back at 3 PM” and wait in the lobby if I wanted.||Since she couldn’t give me any answers, I asked for a manager. After waiting a while, the manager finally showed up and said that the internet was down and wouldn’t be fixed for at least three more hours. I asked if that meant I might still not be able to check in at 3 or even 4 PM, and he admitted that yes, that was possible. When I asked about a manual check-in, he flat-out refused saying it was not possible.||At this point, we were still trying to figure out what to do, and trying to come to a solution. That’s when things got really bad. The manager raised his voice at me and said:||“You must not be from here, because you’re not understanding what I’m saying. I’m telling you—NOTHING can be done!”||Then he threatened to cancel my reservation, which was odd because I never asked to cancel—I just wanted a solution. When I told him that didn’t help, he suddenly announced that he was canceling it anyway and that we were “not welcome” to return later.||I was shocked. My husband and I stayed calm the entire time, and we were simply asking for help. But instead of handling the situation professionally, the manager kept raising his voice, accused me of being “aggressive,” and later said I was being “passive-aggressive.”||As a Black person, I couldn’t ignore how racially charged his comments felt. I was speaking in a neutral, matter-of-fact way. If the hotel has cameras, I hope they review the footage, because it will prove that I was never aggressive.||To make matters worse, when I asked for his name, he refused to give it—which says a lot about his professionalism (or lack of it).||After we s[oke with customer support. I spent hours on the phone with Bonvoy Guest Services, who were super helpful and understanding (unlike the hotel staff). I finally found a room at Residence Inn Anaheim Resort Area/Garden Grove, but because it was a last-minute booking, I had to pay double—around $400 instead of the $200 I was originally going to pay. I am following up with a formal complaint through the bonvoy guest services and the code/rate that I used to book. ||Final Thoughts:||This was honestly one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. No guest should have to deal with:|❌ Being refused check-in because of the manager’s lack of patience|❌ Being treated rudely and unprofessionally|❌ Having their reservation canceled for no reason|❌ Being accused of being “aggressive” just for asking questions|❌ Being stranded last-minute and forced to pay way more for another hotel|❌ Having a manager refuse to give their name||I’ve stayed at many Marriott hotels and have never had this kind of experience. The staff at the Garden Grove location were professional, friendly, and helpful—the complete opposite of what I dealt with at La Mirada.||If you’re considering staying here—DON’T. There are plenty of other hotels nearby that will treat you with basic professionalism and respect.

Friendly and professional staff. Really pretty ground with trees and quiet. Breakfast was standard and it was in the spring so it seems like the Air Conditioning doesn’t work if the heat is set to be on. Overall well run property that I would definitely stay at again.

We were attending the ELO Over and Out Tour. My husband has stayed at this particular Residence Inn several times. It was really close to many attractions in the area, and would probably be a great place to stay if we wanted to take the grandkids to Disney Land. If you prefer to have your door protected by a hallway, this might not be a good place for you. We didn't mind the door opening to the street. It was quiet and tucked in among businesses, so I felt safe. Breakfast was good and the management was friendly. It was an overall great stay, and we will probably use this hotel again.

Of course the rooms weren't spectacular but they were way above average.. everything was pretty much updated clean and working.. there are many hotels I've stayed in that were a lot better or a lot worse but for the money this provided everything I needed. Especially the staff the check and staff and the servers in the food area. But disappears to be Marriotts top priority in serving their customers. Thank you

We enjoyed our stay. Clean and comfortable. The key card reader on our door never functioned properly. Staff was nice enough about it, but doesn't change the fact that we had a delay getting into our room almost every time.

Room smelled like dog piss, staff was very unfriendly. Pool is nasty, full of bugs. I was out to dinner with my wife and they called us, rushing us to get back, claiming there was an Issue with my dog. I get back they wouldn’t let me enter my room to get my dog and my belongings. Had to call and wait for police to let us in. I felt the manger was racist. Let alone plenty of homeless/Meth heads walk the residence late at night, one knocked on my door. Very poor experience overall. Would not recommend.

The employees of this hotel cheat and make money by saying too easy things without working. They do not know their company's policy and do not attempt to take responsibility or resolve it, saying that it is. I don't know if they are bothered or stupid and incapable. They have no ability to solve it. They have no ability to solve things at all. They say that the hotel policy is, but when you look it up, no matter how much you look at their policy, it is impossible to find it. Even so, they are upset and hang up on customers. And don't try to get the name of the staff in this hotel. They don't want to say their name. How insecure their service they can't even say their name...Pathetic.

I made a reservation at the hotel and arrived at the hotel only to find that I didn't have my wallet. So I told them the situation and tried to check in, but they refused to check in at the front desk. Obviously, they had my card information and payment was possible, but they refused, saying that it was company policy. I showed them my driver's license in pictures, and Google sites show that payment is possible with cash and credit card checks, while other sites show that payment is possible with PayPal and Apple Pay. But they refused all the payments, and I ended up going to another hotel, paying with cash and spending the day. What's more interesting is that the staff were so unkind that I asked for their name, and they hung up on me, saying that I didn't have to tell them my name. I don’t know why she was very angry. And they paid for the a night amount with my card information as a cancellation fee. And I called them several times and wanted to talk to their manager, but they refused to talk to me on one pretext or another, and they still haven't heard back. I think they are so stupid and think that there's nothing but racism to understand this behavior. I haven’t see that kind of an ignorant person who didn't know how the update on google put up, and they couldn’t show they company policy. they didn't know anything about the company policy. I did something that I couldn't understand from a common sense point of view. There is couldn’t pay for check in, and I showed up on time at the hotel, and trying to check in, also I didn’t cancel my reservation. They just rejected me and they didn’t help me for check in they just said I can’t check in, but they can take money from my card information for cancellation fee. What kind of crazy story is this? They've done evil things that put a person in crisis into more crisis.
