I booked a room at this Red Roof Inn weeks in advance for 4 adults, choosing a room with 2 queen beds. The day of my stay, I got a call at 6 PM saying they only had a room with one king bed. I was told they’d figure something out and call me back but no one ever did.

When we arrived around 9:30 PM, it was obvious no effort was made. We were given blankets and told to sleep on the floor. On top of that, there were ants in the bed and the A/C unit was so loud we had to turn it off just to get some rest.

I reported everything to the front desk the next morning, and the woman said someone would follow up. No one ever did. Weeks later, I called again and found out they never passed along my complaint and they also never refunded a $100 deposit I didn’t even know I was charged.

This experience was completely unacceptable. I’ve had decent stays at Red Roof Inns before, but after this, I’ll be paying the extra money to stay somewhere that actually values their guests. Don’t waste your time or money here.

Going home for Christmas, I needed a hotel for me and my dog since my dog isn't welcome at my family's house. This hotel was right nearby and was inexpensive. I was more than pleased with the stay. The room was very clean as was the hotel. The staff was very friendly as well. I plan on staying here again - just booked another stay for Easter.

Room is clean. Looks nice. Heater/AC unit works well. Staff is friendly. They do not have any kind of breakfast. There are some restaurants and a Walgreens within easy walking distance.

I stayed here for over a month and did not have any issues. The employees at the front desk were all nice and helpful except this one guy on night shift. I traveled back home every second weekend and upon returning I would get a new room. Everything seemed fine until my last stay. I arrived late checked in and went to bed, the next night I found a bite on my knee but since I just came in from having a smoke I thought I had got bitten by a spider. Went to bed woke up went to work and found more bites all over my body. Got to the hotel, switched rooms and informed them that they must have bed bugs. I couldn't do my laundry because some homeless lady had taken up the laundry room for the night. I checked the sheets and went to bed. Went to work and part way through work I noticed even more bites. On my legs, arms, back, face and neck. I got to the hotel after work, showed the lady at the front desk all the bites, checked out and went to another hotel where I immediately washed all my clothes. I called the hotel every day for a week after that to talk with management and every time they are too busy to talk and say they will call me back and I never get a call. I was also charged over 500 dollars for 4 nights when I only stayed 3 and the rooms are under 100 a night. Do not stay at this hotel unless you want to get eaten alive and ripped off. 3 weeks later and the bite marks look more like scars.

The people were very friendly and helpful. Outside of that, my toddler was bitten up by bedbugs and we both got incredibly sick, bedridden with norovirus. This place isn't clean. It's expensive and dirty. The train and general public are loud in the middle of the night. I tried to get my money back but they were listed as permanently closed - stay closed

Ouch... this was a mistake. Don't think we have ever been as disappointed in a hotel. Asked why there wasn't a fridge in the room and was told it was an extra $26. to $30. We tried for heat, and it whined so much we had to shut it off!! The room was booked online, hence prepaid, but still wanted $100. deposit, not sure for what as there was nothing in the room.

I tried booking a room here through Expedia, who did not communicate that there's this ridiculous $100 deposit. That wouldn't have been an issue had I not been on a very tight budget. The woman working the desk was at least sympathetic to my situation and did everything she could to make sure Expedia returned all of my money. I am sleeping in the graveyard (on Christmas Eve) as a result of all this, so can't say I have anything positive to comment. They should really just raise their prices so they're not the cheapest in town if they want to keep all the homeless people and drug addicts from visiting instead of this foolishness about a deposit that was twice what I intended to spend on the room. That'd be much more honest than trying to "fine print" their way around the problem

Don't love Charleston, WV, but a decent room for a great price. No breakfast. No pool. Got a good night sleep and our quickly the next morning.
