Everyone in our family said this was a trip of a lifetime to Red Rock Ranch in Kelly Wyoming.

Here are the details.

We brought an extended family consisting of six adults in their 30s and early 40s, two seniors low 70s, and five children, four children 6 to 11 years old, and 11 month old infant. Four of our group are good to excellent riders coming in, the rest not.so much.

The ranch is easy to get to, but still in an isolated area 45 minutes outside Jackson Hole. It’s 640 acres surrounded by 3,000,000 acres of pristine national forest.

Our week was structured with multiple activities planned throughout the day and evening, but there’s flexibility to tailor rides, hikes, and children’s experiences. Children six and up are riding each day in various forms whether it’s family rides or children’s rides. Adult rides are half day or full day on amazing terrain with excellent horses.

The wranglers are terrific - all super friendly women in their 20s who have ridden most of their lives. Guided hiking is also available.

The grounds are set among the horse pastures and along Crystal Creek surrounded by large hills and great views of the Tetons… almost surreal with the horses grazing in the fields and the bubbling trout stream (that you can fly fish in). .

There’s an advanced riding class with the owner, Carolyn Stimmel, who herself is a champion rider. I learned to ride much better.

But if you’re just looking for breathtaking rides on the trails, anyone at any level can do it.

The kids loved the available bicycles to ride around the grounds. There is an outdoor gym set and playroom and when they weren’t riding, or engaged in other organized activities, they were occupied exploring and playing all day, giving the parents lots of freedom and peace of mind. For the brave of heart, there’s a splash area in the pond connected to the Crystal Creek.

We loved the cattle herding morning when you’re able to do some of the things you see on Yellowstone!

The main clubhouse area has the dining facility, a deck overlooking Crystal Creek and the pastures, a nice bar, fire pit, and a cozy hearth room to read and relax in. The clubhouse has excellent internet (Starlink).

Oh, and the food, three great meals a day. - The chef and staff are great and can handle special dietary needs. And great service everywhere you turn. No unmet needs.

The houses and cabins are rustic but functional, comfortable, and clean.

This is a special place with a special family, the Stimmel’s, running it.

Check it out.

My family, 14 of us including 7 grandkids, really enjoyed our week at Red Rock Ranch. The accommodations and food were excellent. The staff was friendly and professional. The horseback riding trips for adults and kids were well supervised, safe and fun. I felt extremely comfortable letting my 5 grandkids, ages 6 to 12, go on all-day horseback riding trips. We made some great memories this past week. I would highly recommend this Dude Ranch to other families, even those with small children.

Just finished a week with the rrr family. Don’t have time to mention all the staff, horses and other guests who made this the ultimate vacation for our family of 5. We researched extensively and found rrr as a smaller family run ranch within an hour from major airport. Specializing in horsemanship and offering fishing on the property as well as hiking was what we were looking for with adult children 21-26. The experience far surpassed our expectations. Team penning was a family favorite event. We had been to several dude or guest ranges in Wyoming and Colorado in the past but rrr far surpassed them. Big shoutout to the Stimel family for keeping their long family run traditions alive. Specifically to Tiana for arranging our activities and dealing with the flight issues. Our primary wranglers gracie and joe became family in a short time and quickly adapted to our own can’t stop talking family mentality. To Louisa and Madelyn for insuring every meal was better than home. Cabins and food are top notch. Fishing was excellent and we’re not shut out on 2 separate days. If your looking for a family get away to ditch the phones and TVs and bond with your family then this is the place. Look no further.|Ps we are very novice riders!!

Red Rock Ranch is owned by an absolutely lovely and charming family. They exude hospitality and make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The views are breathtaking everywhere you look. The food is delicious. The staff is friendly and professional. Our entire family had a blast, including our elementary school aged daughter and high school senior, as well as my husband who doesn't ride horses but loved the hiking, pickle ball, square dancing and time with friends and family. We coordinated with four other families, and everyone loved the vacation. We all highly recommend Red Rock Ranch. It's a special place.

Red Rock Ranch is the ideal family vacation. It is located in the most beautiful setting and staffed by the most caring people. They have a children's camp that my granddaughter loved from dawn to dusk. Having her own horse for the week was a dream come true! The cabins are clean and comfortable, the food plentiful and delicious. This was our second year and it will be followed by more visits. It frees you from the tension and stress of daily living and gives everyone a chance to really unplug and rejuvenate their souls. Can't wait to return!

We just returned from our family celebration at Red Rock Ranch. There were 25 of us (ages 10 mos-80yrs old) and all of us had so many things to do. I started working with the Stimmel family 8 months in advance to ensure we had the room for our large group and activities we could all enjoy. Steven, Lynn, and Tiana were excellent in communicating, following up, and ensuring everything was in place.||Once we arrived, our family was completely blown away with the ranch and all the people who were our wranglers, chefs, cleaning crew, saloon bartender, and helping serve our meals. Special call out to Chef Jeff, Louisa, Maddie, and Sean - you, along with all the other staff, were amazing.|Our group enjoyed horseback riding, hiking the trails, fly fishing, pony rides for the littles, square dancing, songs by the campfire, etc. For some of our group, the perfect spot was in the lodge by the fire reading and playing games.||Harley and Carolyn were the most gracious hosts and made sure everyone was having a good time.||The cabins were set up perfectly for both families staying together as well as couples. Very well appointed; beds were comfy, fridge in the room, and plenty of space.||If you TRULY want an amazing, outstanding, outdoor adventure with family and friends, I cannot give a greater endorsement than the Red Rock Ranch.

This vacation was the best vacation I’ve ever enjoyed. As a father and grandfather, I cannot imagine a better family (total of 10, ages 8-66) gathering that allowed everyone to participate and thoroughly enjoy. Square-dancing with my 11 year old granddaughter is now a core memory I hope I never forget.
The food, the programs, the professionalism and genuine kindness of each staff member was beyond exceptional. The hand on ownership us inspirational. Watching the increasing confidence and skill building of our grandchildren on horseback riding was so delightful. We already voted and will be returning to Red Rock Ranch again.
I would take a second home -mortgage out to provide this top-tier experience for my family. It is that awesome.

I stayed at Red Rock the week of July 27th. I was attending a horse clinic with trainer Bobbi Wade. The Ranch was beautiful, the cabins were clean and adorable, the wranglers were fantastic and the food was great! Overall, a fantastic experience.
