The room was nice, but there was only 1 towel, the air conditioner did not work, we slept with the slider door open to cool the room down. On all 5 floors (because we looked) there were no working ice machines, we had to get ice from the front desk. The faucet in the bathroom almost came off and there is a train that runs directly to the side of the building. I felt like it ran right under me, blaring the horn to alert the homeless, first at around 8pm, then again around 11pm. Also there were homeless people in the parking lot. We were glad to have a room overlooking the lot to keep an eye on our vehicle.
The front desk person was nice, but I did not feel the priority as a paying customer. Felt like we were just an annoyance. The seagulls were interested in our open door this morning. They are also very loud. Overall, nope, never staying there again. Always read the reviews!

Our stay at the Red Lion Inn& Suites, Governor Hotel, 621 Capitol Way S, Olympia, WA 98501,was hands down one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had.The front desk receptionist, Manny—who is just a standard hotel receptionist employee, not a manager—was particularly condescending, rude, arrogant, and unprofessional. He directed this attitude not only toward us, but also toward our underage son, who was staying with us and had a few friends briefly stop by to wish him a happy birthday.||After checking in, we stepped out for a short time to handle some business. While we were gone, our son received a visit from a few friends—something we had clearly disclosed at check-in. It was not a party. Despite that, Manny began harassing our son, repeatedly calling the room instead of contacting us directly. He even came up to the room and knocked multiple times, making everyone feel uncomfortable, unwelcome and attempted to lure them out of the room and force them for their IDs.His behavior was completely out of line and unnecessary.||On top of that, there were major safety concerns throughout the property: visible drug activity, a strong and unpleasant odor in the halls, dirty, locks on other rooms, many visible damages to our room, and even a bullet hole in one of the windows. The hotel looks nothing like the images advertised online—it’s a completely different reality once you arrive.||Manny also falsely accused us of giving away our room keys—both of which we returned at checkout exactly as issued. He continued to escalate the situation and claimed his manager, who was clearly not on site, ordered him to kick us out.||What’s worse, we’re left questioning whether the targeting and harassment our son and his guests experienced had anything to do with the color of their skin or their identities. The way they were treated was not just inappropriate—it was not only embarrassing ,but very disappointing for our son||Ultimately, we were told we would get a full refund within two days—but we don’t know if that will even happen. Do not trust the images, the staff, or the management. This hotel is unsafe, misrepresented, and run by people who have no understanding of hospitality or basic human decency.||Stay away. This place should be held accountable.

Wow. This place was horrible. Only thing that was great was customer service over phone. Everything is dated and dirty. Like the owners don’t care. Shower was a constant stream of water and counter top splitting from wall in bathroom. Almost felt like it was a haven for homeless. Pool looks like it is out of the movie poltergeist. The elevator buttons were falling of the wall in the hallway and the entrance and behind counter was not welcoming. Please take some pride in your building and get some contractors to do some work. Red Lion this is not a hotel that you want representing your brand.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I can’t even begin to express how many things were wrong with this place! Truly, if you are anyone who values cleanliness, safety, or comfort, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Upon walking in, the lobby was FREEZING. The doors to the lobby did not close all the way after being opened, and this was the dead of winter! When we got to our room, the smell hit. It was must and mildew scented (we had to open the patio door right away to let out the stale air). We were in the 4th floor and the patio door had a sign on it that said “Only opens four inches for safety”. WHAT A LIE! That door opened the whole way (about 3 feet) and the railing was so short that even I was scared to get too close! If you have kids this would be a liability! After leaving our hotel on our first night we noticed that the door had about an inch of “give” when pushing or pulling on our door even after locking it! The room next to us looked like it had been kicked open (broken door frame and lock) with a padlock holding it closed. As for the “freezing” air, we looked everywhere for extra blankets but there were none! Taking a shower the next morning I noticed just how gross the tile and shower head were. After my shower the tub WOULD NOT DRAIN! The pictures I posted with this are just the tip of the ice berg of how unclean and neglected this place was! Stains behind the head board of the bed, cracked and stained walls in plain sight and behind the furniture, and the smell just never went away!
We want our money back! And if not, we just want to warn people to NOT BOOK HERE! It is not worth the “cheaper” (not even that much cheaper) price or location (which was the only saving grace). Get a different hotel and Uber downtown! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THE RED LION OLYMPIA!

Positive: The potential is there. The room is a good size with a nice view Negative: Dirty. Hair all overRoom Did Not match photos. Reserved top floor. Got 7th floor. Breakfast is bread. (Bagels, toast, and muffins.) nothing hot. Broken door. Didn?t feel safe. Weed smells. One towel. One washcloth. Furniture in room is minimal and cheap.

Just say NO! It's rather sad because the bones of this hotel show it was nice in its day and could be an historic landmark. Please note before you think it's a good idea to book:

* The online images DO NOT represent this hotel IN ANY WAY.

* The area AND property is teeming with homelessness.

* There had been a recent guest automobile break-in at the time
of my arrival, which the desk clerk seemed to blame the guest
for.

* I had to get all the way into the room without being able to hold
the door open to find the first switch that successfully
illuminated a light.

* The room across the hall from mine was PADLOCKED!

* I refused to walk barefoot on the filthy carpeting or use the
shower.

* The deadbolt installed on my door had no strike plate or hole to
bolt into on the door jamb.

* In the midst of all this threat, there was exactly one person
staffed. Not meaning any offense, but there was no apparent
standard of professional presentation. (I felt as if I may have
been checking into a shelter myself.)

Save yourself a lot of stress and bypass this idea.
